Chapter 105: Chapter 105 — The Heart of the Mountain

The northern mountain shook.

BOOM!

A massive explosion erupted near its peak.

Seraphina and Lyanna stopped.

Seraphina looked upward.

"That came from Azrael."

Another explosion followed.

This time, the entire valley trembled.

Lyanna tightened her grip on her weapon.

"Sounds like they found something."

Seraphina nodded.

"Let’s go."

They rushed toward the mountain.

At the summit, Azrael stood before an enormous stone gate.

Behind him, dozens of corrupted beasts lay unconscious.

Caelan rested his spear against his shoulder, breathing heavily.

Orin sat on a broken stone.

"I officially hate this floor."

Azrael ignored him.

His attention was fixed on the gate.

A strange symbol was carved into its center.

It resembled a circle surrounded by seven smaller circles.

Azrael activated Resonance Sight.

The symbol immediately changed.

[Unknown Structure]

[Energy Type: Life]

[Secondary Energy: Earth]

[Current Stability: 13%]

Azrael frowned.

"Life energy?"

Caelan stepped beside him.

"Then why was the mountain filled with corrupted creatures?"

Azrael touched the stone.

"Because something has been forcing the mountain’s energy outward."

He closed his eyes.

The mountain’s resonance entered his perception.

He could feel the rocks.

The soil.

The underground water.

The roots.

And something deeper.

Something enormous.

Azrael opened his eyes.

"There’s a core inside."

Orin stood.

"Another core?"

"This floor really likes cores."

Azrael shook his head.

"Not like the Sanctuary Core."

He looked toward the gate.

"This is the mountain’s heart."

A voice came from behind them.

"Then we should probably be careful with it."

Seraphina arrived with Lyanna.

Azrael turned.

"You came."

Seraphina smiled.

"You didn’t expect me to stay behind, did you?"

"No."

Azrael looked at her.

"I knew you’d come."

She walked toward the gate.

The moment she approached, the symbol began glowing.

Golden light spread across the stone.

Seraphina’s eyes widened.

"It’s reacting to Genesis Bloom."

Azrael nodded.

"Then maybe you should open it."

Seraphina placed her hand against the gate.

Nothing happened.

She frowned.

"That’s strange."

She tried again.

Still nothing.

Caelan examined the symbol.

"Perhaps it requires something else."

Azrael activated Resonance Sight again.

This time, he noticed something.

Seven circles.

Seven missing connections.

"This gate isn’t locked."

Seraphina looked at him.

"Then what is it doing?"

"It’s waiting."

"For what?"

Azrael pointed at the seven circles.

"Energy."

The System suddenly appeared.

[Mountain Heart]

[Activation Requirement: Restore Seven Life Nodes]

[Current Nodes Restored: 0/7]

[Warning]

[Failure to restore all nodes will cause Mountain Heart collapse.]

Orin stared at the screen.

"Seven?"

Lyanna sighed.

"Of course."

Caelan smiled faintly.

"At least we know what we’re doing now."

Azrael looked at the mountain.

"Seven nodes."

Seraphina nodded.

"Then we’ll restore them."

The first node was located beneath a forest.

The second beneath the river.

The third inside a canyon.

The fourth beneath a ruined village.

The fifth inside a cavern.

The sixth at the mountain’s western cliff.

And the seventh...

Azrael looked upward.

"...At the summit."

Orin stared at him.

"We’re already at the summit."

Azrael pointed toward the sky.

"The node is above us."

Everyone looked upward.

There was nothing there.

Then Seraphina noticed something.

"A floating island."

Far above the mountain was a small piece of land suspended in the clouds.

At its center grew a single enormous tree.

Its roots hung through the air.

Seraphina’s expression softened.

"That must be the seventh."

Azrael nodded.

"We’ll split up."

Seraphina immediately shook her head.

"No."

Azrael looked at her.

"The nodes are connected."

She pointed toward the seven locations.

"If we activate them independently, we could disrupt the energy flow."

Azrael considered it.

She was right.

The nodes weren’t seven separate objectives.

They formed a network.

"We need to activate them in sequence."

Seraphina smiled.

"Exactly."

Caelan looked at the map.

"Then which one first?"

Azrael looked toward the forest.

"The first."

The group moved quickly.

They reached the forest within minutes.

The node was buried beneath an enormous tree.

Unfortunately, the tree was dying.

Its roots had been infected by the same corruption they had encountered earlier.

Seraphina approached it.

She placed her hand against the trunk.

"There’s still life inside."

Azrael studied the tree.

"Then restore it."

Seraphina closed her eyes.

Golden energy spread through the roots.

But this time, something was different.

Her Life Resonance allowed her to perceive the tree’s natural rhythm.

She could feel every root.

Every branch.

Every remaining drop of moisture.

Instead of forcing energy into it, she synchronized with it.

The tree trembled.

Then—

A single green leaf appeared.

Another.

Then hundreds.

The branches slowly lifted.

The dead bark cracked away.

Deep beneath the ground, something clicked.

THUM.

Golden light rose from the earth.

[Life Node 1 Activated]

[Mountain Heart Stability: 19%]

Seraphina opened her eyes.

She smiled.

"One."

Azrael nodded.

"Six remaining."

The second node was beneath the river.

This one was more difficult.

The water itself was corrupted.

Seraphina couldn’t simply purify it from the surface.

She entered the river.

Azrael remained nearby.

"Are you sure?"

Seraphina looked back.

"I’ll be fine."

She dove beneath the surface.

The deeper she went, the darker the water became.

Her Genesis energy illuminated the river.

She could see countless small creatures hiding among the rocks.

They were barely alive.

Seraphina’s expression tightened.

"I’m sorry."

She released a gentle wave of Genesis energy.

The corruption slowly disappeared.

Fish began swimming again.

Plants unfolded.

The water became clear.

Then Seraphina saw the node.

A golden crystal was buried beneath the riverbed.

She placed her hand on it.

"Genesis Bloom."

Golden flowers grew beneath the water.

Their roots wrapped around the crystal.

THUM.

[Life Node 2 Activated]

[Mountain Heart Stability: 27%]

Seraphina smiled.

Then she felt something move behind her.

She turned.

A massive serpent emerged from the darkness.

Its body was covered in black scales.

Its eyes glowed red.

The creature opened its jaws.

Seraphina raised her staff.

"You’re corrupted too."

The serpent attacked.

She didn’t retreat.

Instead, she extended one hand.

"Purification."

Golden light struck its head.

The corruption resisted.

The serpent continued forward.

Seraphina gritted her teeth.

"Then I’ll do it properly."

She activated Life Network.

The serpent’s entire life structure appeared within her perception.

She found the corruption.

It was wrapped around its heart.

Seraphina carefully separated the two.

The serpent stopped.

Its red eyes slowly returned to normal.

It lowered its head.

Seraphina smiled.

"You don’t have to fight me."

The serpent turned and disappeared into the clear water.

Above the river, Azrael watched the water change.

He smiled faintly.

"She keeps getting better."

Caelan looked at him.

"You sound proud."

"I am."

There was no hesitation in Azrael’s answer.

The remaining nodes took hours.

The third required Azrael to clear a collapsed canyon so the group could reach the node.

The fourth required Lyanna and Orin to rebuild a broken irrigation system.

The fifth required Caelan to hold back a swarm of corrupted creatures while Seraphina restored an underground forest.

The sixth was located on a cliff where violent winds made movement almost impossible.

Each member contributed.

Nobody completed the trial alone.

By the time the sixth node activated, the sun had begun setting.

[Life Nodes Activated: 6/7]

[Mountain Heart Stability: 72%]

Everyone looked toward the floating island.

The final node remained.

Azrael looked at the distance.

"We need to get up there."

Caelan examined the floating island.

"There’s no path."

Seraphina looked at the enormous tree.

"There is."

She pointed toward its roots.

"They’re reaching downward."

Azrael understood.

"The roots can create a bridge."

Seraphina nodded.

"If I restore the tree’s energy, the roots should extend toward us."

She stepped forward.

"Let me try."

Golden energy surrounded her.

The enormous tree responded.

Its branches began glowing.

Then its roots moved.

Slowly.

They descended from the floating island.

One root.

Then another.

Soon, a massive natural bridge connected the island to the mountain.

Orin stared.

"I’ve officially decided that Genesis magic is ridiculous."

Seraphina laughed.

"Thank you."

The group climbed.

At the top of the floating island stood the final node.

But there was a problem.

The tree was dying.

Its trunk had been split almost completely in half.

Seraphina approached.

She placed both hands against it.

Her expression became serious.

"This one is different."

Azrael stood beside her.

"Can you heal it?"

"I can."

She paused.

"But I don’t think healing is enough."

Azrael understood.

"What does it need?"

Seraphina looked at the tree.

"Connection."

She closed her eyes.

Her Life Network activated.

For the first time, she didn’t simply connect to one organism.

She connected to the entire mountain.

The forest.

The river.

The canyon.

The village.

The underground cavern.

The cliff.

And the Sanctuary Core.

Everything became part of one enormous network.

Seraphina’s breathing slowed.

"I can feel all of them."

Azrael watched silently.

Golden energy began flowing through the network.

The six activated nodes responded.

One after another—

THUM.

THUM.

THUM.

The energy traveled toward the seventh.

The dying tree began glowing.

Its broken trunk slowly repaired itself.

New branches emerged.

Leaves filled the canopy.

Then flowers bloomed across the entire island.

The seventh node activated.

Seraphina stared at the screen.

Then she smiled.

Azrael walked over.

"Congratulations."

She looked at him.

"You too."

"I didn’t receive anything."

"You helped activate the nodes."

"So?"

"So you contributed."

Azrael smiled.

"Then that’s enough."

The entire mountain suddenly became brighter.

The Sanctuary Core far below shone with golden light.

The black corruption that had covered the valley disappeared completely.

Trees stood tall.

The river flowed cleanly.

The ruined buildings stabilized.

The mountain itself seemed healthier.

The System appeared before everyone.

[Floor 24 Complete]

[Next Floor Unlocked]

A staircase appeared at the edge of the floating island.

A single number was carved into the first step.

25

Orin stared at it.

"We just spent an entire day repairing a valley."

Lyanna smiled.

"And?"

Orin sighed.

"I was hoping Floor 25 would be a vacation."

Caelan laughed.

"You’re dreaming."

Seraphina looked at Azrael.

"Ready?"

Azrael looked toward the staircase.

"Always."

Together, the twins began walking toward Floor 25.
