Genesis & Oblivion: The Celestial Evolution System
Chapter 87 — The Hidden ChamberChapter 87: Chapter 87 — The Hidden Chamber
Azrael remained seated before the sealed wall.
He didn’t touch it again.
Instead, he closed his eyes.
The new skill, Resonance Sight, remained active.
The world around him changed.
Everything possessed a rhythm.
The stone beneath him produced a deep, slow vibration.
The crystals above him hummed at different frequencies.
The air carried a faint resonance that shifted whenever he breathed.
Even Astraeus beside him produced a familiar rhythm.
But the wall...
The wall was different.
Its resonance wasn’t moving naturally.
It was being suppressed.
Azrael opened his eyes.
"Something is deliberately hiding its resonance."
He placed his palm against the stone.
This time, he didn’t attempt to force his way through.
He listened.
A low vibration passed through his hand.
Then another.
Azrael concentrated.
There were several layers.
The outer layer was ordinary stone.
Behind it was a formation.
Behind the formation was something else.
A much denser structure.
Azrael slowly smiled.
"There are three seals."
The System responded.
[Resonance Analysis]
Outer Layer: Ancient Stone Formation
Second Layer: Concealment Formation
Third Layer: Spatial Lock
Status: Stable
Recommended Action: Understand the resonance sequence.
Azrael nodded.
"So that’s the test."
He didn’t need to destroy the wall.
He needed to understand how it had been created.
Azrael placed both hands against the stone.
His breathing became slower.
One vibration.
Two.
Three.
He began separating them.
The first resonance was heavy.
The second was sharp.
The third was almost impossible to detect.
Azrael focused on the third.
The moment he touched it with his perception—
BOOM!
A powerful shockwave erupted from the wall.
Azrael was thrown backward.
He rolled across the floor and quickly stood.
His arm was trembling.
"That wasn’t supposed to happen."
The System appeared.
[Resonance Feedback Detected]
Mental Resistance Required
Current Understanding Insufficient
Azrael stared at the message.
Then laughed.
"So I failed."
He wasn’t frustrated.
Instead, he became more interested.
The old master had always told him that failure was information.
Azrael returned to the wall.
This time, he didn’t touch it.
He simply watched.
Minutes passed.
Then an hour.
The resonance changed slightly.
Azrael noticed something.
The three layers weren’t independent.
They were connected.
The outer formation created the foundation.
The concealment formation redirected the resonance.
The spatial lock compressed it.
Together, they formed a cycle.
Azrael’s eyes widened.
"That’s why forcing one layer causes the others to react."
He finally understood.
The formation wasn’t three seals.
It was one system with three functions.
Azrael raised one finger.
He touched the wall.
Instead of attacking the formation...
He matched its rhythm.
The stone vibrated.
Hum...
The second layer responded.
Hum...
The third layer followed.
The three resonances aligned.
Then—
Click.
A small crack appeared.
Azrael smiled.
"Got you."
The crack spread across the wall.
Light emerged from within.
The entire hidden structure opened.
Beyond the wall was a narrow corridor.
Unlike the ancient fortress outside, this place was perfectly preserved.
The floor was made from silver stone.
Small lights floated along the walls.
There were no inscriptions.
No statues.
No treasures.
Only a path leading deeper.
Azrael stood.
He picked up Astraeus.
Before entering, he checked his System.

Azrael stared at the screen.
His Origin Perception had increased twice.

And his Evolution Progress had risen from 34% to 38%.
He smiled.
"Not bad."
The System screen disappeared.
Azrael walked into the corridor.
Outside the chamber, Seraphina suddenly opened her eyes.
She had been meditating beside the entrance.
"He’s moving."
Caelan looked over.
"How do you know?"
"I can feel his presence changing."
Lyanna closed her book.
"Is he coming out?"
Seraphina shook her head.
"No."
She smiled.
"He’s going deeper."
Orin sighed.
"Of course he is."
Caelan stood.
"We should follow."
Seraphina immediately shook her head.
"No."
Caelan looked at her.
"Why?"
"Because this is his trial."
She glanced toward the chamber.
"If the chamber wanted us inside, it would have opened the entrance."
Caelan considered her words.
Then nodded.
"You’re right."
Azrael continued walking.
The corridor seemed short.
Yet every step felt strangely distant.
His Resonance Sight remained active.
He noticed something unusual.
The walls were not simply carrying energy.
They were recording it.
Every movement he made caused the corridor to remember his resonance.
Azrael stopped.
He looked behind himself.
His previous footsteps were faintly glowing.
"Interesting."
He placed his hand against the wall.
A faint image appeared.
It showed him walking through the corridor.
Azrael frowned.
"The corridor records everything."
Then he understood.
It wasn’t recording his movements.
It was recording his understanding.
Every time he recognized something, the corridor stored the resonance.
Azrael continued forward.
After several dozen meters, the corridor opened into another chamber.
At its center stood a circular platform.
Above it floated a single crystal.
Unlike the training crystals from the previous chamber, this one was completely transparent.
Inside it was a tiny black flame.
Azrael approached carefully.
The flame didn’t burn.
It simply floated.
A System notification appeared.
[Forgotten Path Fragment Detected]
Type: Understanding Fragment
Compatibility: Extremely High
Current State: Incomplete
Warning:
Forced absorption is not recommended.
Azrael stared at the crystal.
"The Forgotten Path..."
He remembered the old master’s words.
The next lesson will determine whether you’re worthy of inheriting the Forgotten Path.
This wasn’t a skill.
It wasn’t a treasure.
It was a fragment of understanding.
Azrael reached toward it.
Then stopped.
The System had warned him.
Forced absorption wasn’t recommended.
So he didn’t absorb it.
Instead, he activated Resonance Sight.
The black flame immediately reacted.
A faint vibration spread through the chamber.
Azrael’s expression changed.
He recognized the rhythm.
It was similar to the resonance of his Oblivion energy.
But not identical.
It was older.
More refined.
And much quieter.
Azrael sat before the crystal.
He didn’t touch it.
He simply listened.
For several minutes, nothing happened.
Then the black flame moved closer.
It stopped directly before him.
Azrael’s eyes narrowed.
The flame slowly entered his chest.
BOOM!
His body trembled.
A wave of darkness spread through the chamber.
Azrael didn’t resist.
He allowed the resonance to pass through him.
Images appeared in his mind.
A sword.
A mountain.
A river.
A star.
A collapsing universe.
All of them existed for only an instant.
Then they disappeared.
Azrael opened his eyes.
The crystal was gone.
The System appeared.
[Understanding Fragment Successfully Integrated]
Forgotten Path Compatibility Increased
Oblivion Resonance Increased
New Passive Effect Acquired
[Silent Resonance]
The user’s energy signature can naturally synchronize with surrounding phenomena.
Detection difficulty increased.
Energy consumption reduced when using resonance-based abilities.
Azrael slowly stood.
He looked at his hand.
Dark energy appeared around his fingers.
But this time...
It didn’t spread violently.
It moved silently.
Almost peacefully.
Azrael remembered the first time he had used Oblivion Judgment against Astaroth.
Back then, his darkness had felt absolute.
Now it felt more controlled.
More precise.
He smiled.
"I’m starting to understand."
A voice suddenly echoed from behind him.
"That’s enough for today."
Azrael froze.
He turned around.
The old master stood at the entrance.
His usual relaxed expression had returned.
Azrael looked at him.
"You knew this chamber was here."
The old man smiled.
"I knew you would find it."
"That’s not what I asked."
"I know."
Azrael sighed.
"You could have told me."
"And then you would have learned nothing."
Azrael couldn’t argue with that.
The old master walked toward the crystal’s former position.
"You passed the first stage."
Azrael raised an eyebrow.
"First stage?"
The old man nodded.
"There are three stages to understanding the Forgotten Path."
"Today, you completed the first."
Azrael looked toward him.
"What are the other two?"
The old master smiled.
"You’ll learn when you’re ready."
Azrael sighed.
"Of course."
The old master laughed.
"Come."
"We have somewhere else to be."
Azrael followed him back toward the corridor.
As they walked, the old master glanced sideways.
"How does your body feel?"
Azrael thought about it.
"Stronger."
"Good."
"And my understanding feels clearer."
"Better."
Azrael smiled.
"Then I suppose today wasn’t a waste."
The old master shook his head.
"No."
"It was the first day you actually started learning."
They returned to the main chamber.
The others immediately stood.
Seraphina walked toward her brother.
"You’re finally back."
Azrael nodded.
"Yeah."
She looked at him carefully.
"You changed."
Azrael smiled.
"So did you."
Seraphina laughed softly.
"Then I guess we both had a productive day."
Caelan approached them.
"How was the chamber?"
Azrael glanced at the old master.
Then back at Caelan.
"Complicated."
Caelan smiled.
"I expected that answer."
Orin stretched.
"Can we leave now?"
Azrael looked around the fortress.
The group had already gathered their belongings.
The former leader stood near the entrance.
"We should move before another group arrives."
Azrael nodded.
"Agreed."
The group began leaving the fortress.
This time, there was no fighting.
They simply walked together toward the next section of the dungeon.
Azrael looked back once.
The ancient fortress remained silent behind them.
He had entered looking for a training opportunity.
He left with something far more valuable.
Understanding.
And for the first time, he was beginning to realize that becoming stronger wasn’t simply about increasing his power.
It was about becoming someone capable of using that power correctly.
