Chapter 91: Chapter 91 — The Eleventh Floor

The staircase continued upward.

Unlike the previous floors, there were no changes in the environment.

No monsters appeared.

No traps activated.

For several minutes, the group simply climbed.

Orin looked around suspiciously.

"This is getting uncomfortable."

Lyanna glanced at him.

"Why?"

"Because nothing has happened."

Caelan chuckled.

"You really don’t like peaceful moments."

"Not in this Tower."

Seraphina smiled.

"I agree with him."

Azrael remained silent.

His attention was focused on the staircase.

Something about it felt different.

His Resonance Sight revealed a faint vibration beneath the stone.

It wasn’t dangerous.

It wasn’t hostile.

But it was old.

Very old.

Azrael stopped.

The others stopped with him.

"What is it?" Seraphina asked.

Azrael crouched and placed his hand against the staircase.

"There is energy beneath us."

Caelan walked closer.

"Can you identify it?"

Azrael shook his head.

"Not yet."

He concentrated.

The resonance traveled through the stairs.

It continued upward.

Then downward.

Almost as if the entire staircase was one enormous formation.

Azrael stood.

"Let’s keep moving."

They continued.

A few minutes later, the staircase finally ended.

A massive circular hall appeared before them.

There were no floating platforms.

No monsters.

No visible traps.

Instead, thousands of mirrors covered the walls.

Each mirror reflected a different scene.

Azrael saw himself.

Seraphina saw herself.

Caelan.

Lyanna.

Orin.

Everyone had a different reflection.

The System appeared.

[Floor Eleven]

The Trial of Self

Objective:

Reach the center of the chamber.

Additional Rule:

Your reflection cannot be defeated through ordinary combat.

Failure Condition:

Rejecting your own weakness.

Orin stared at the mirrors.

"So we’re fighting ourselves?"

Azrael shook his head.

"Not exactly."

He looked at his reflection.

It wasn’t moving.

It simply stared back.

Then—

The reflection smiled.

Azrael’s expression became serious.

The mirror cracked.

CRACK!

A figure stepped out.

It looked exactly like Azrael.

Same silver-white hair.

Same eyes.

Same clothes.

Same sword.

But the aura was different.

The reflection raised Astraeus.

Azrael slowly drew his own sword.

"So that’s what you mean."

The reflection attacked.

CLANG!

The first clash sent sparks across the hall.

Azrael stepped backward.

The reflection followed.

Another strike.

Azrael blocked.

Another.

He dodged.

Another.

He countered.

Their movements were identical.

Every technique Azrael used...

The reflection immediately copied.

Azrael used Oblivion Judgment.

The reflection used it too.

He activated Stone Resonance.

The reflection responded with the same resonance.

He used his Eclipse Wings.

The reflection did the same.

Azrael frowned.

"It’s copying everything."

The reflection suddenly disappeared.

Azrael’s instincts activated.

He turned.

BOOM!

The reflection struck his back.

Azrael was thrown across the chamber.

He rolled and quickly stood.

Blood trickled from his mouth.

The reflection stared at him.

"You cannot defeat me."

Azrael narrowed his eyes.

"Because you’re copying me."

"No."

The reflection raised Astraeus.

"Because I am you."

The words echoed through the chamber.

Azrael remained silent.

The reflection attacked again.

This time, Azrael didn’t block.

He stepped aside.

The sword passed him.

Azrael struck.

The reflection blocked.

The two blades locked.

Neither moved.

"You know everything I know."

Azrael said.

"Yes."

"You can use everything I can use."

"Yes."

Azrael smiled.

"Then you should know what I’m going to do next."

The reflection smiled back.

"I do."

Azrael suddenly released Astraeus.

The reflection’s eyes widened.

For the first time...

It hesitated.

Azrael stepped forward with an empty hand.

The reflection didn’t know what to copy.

Azrael struck it directly in the chest.

BOOM!

The reflection stumbled backward.

Azrael retrieved Astraeus.

"I don’t always need a technique."

The reflection looked down at its chest.

A crack appeared.

Then another.

Azrael understood.

The reflection could copy his abilities.

It could copy his techniques.

But it couldn’t copy a decision he hadn’t made yet.

The reflection attacked again.

Azrael deliberately changed his fighting style.

No swordsmanship.

No predictable patterns.

No techniques.

Only movement.

The reflection struggled.

Every time it copied one action, Azrael changed the next.

A step forward.

A sudden retreat.

A shoulder feint.

A low kick.

A sword strike.

Then nothing.

The reflection became increasingly unstable.

Azrael realized why.

"It’s trying to understand me."

But Azrael himself didn’t always know what he would do next.

His fighting style had become instinctive.

Adaptive.

The reflection couldn’t copy something that wasn’t fixed.

Azrael finally stepped forward.

Astraeus rested against the reflection’s chest.

"You’re not my weakness."

The reflection stared at him.

"Then what am I?"

Azrael answered calmly.

"Everything I could become if I stopped changing."

The reflection cracked completely.

Then it disappeared.

[Self Trial Progress: 20%]

Insight Acquired:

A changing path cannot be perfectly copied.

Azrael looked toward the remaining mirrors.

The others had already begun their own battles.

Seraphina stood before her reflection.

Her golden counterpart held the same staff.

But unlike Azrael’s reflection...

Seraphina’s opponent wasn’t attacking.

It was simply watching her.

Seraphina frowned.

"What are you waiting for?"

The reflection smiled.

"You."

Seraphina’s eyes narrowed.

"What does that mean?"

"You always protect others."

The reflection raised its staff.

"But who protects you?"

Seraphina became silent.

The reflection continued.

"You heal everyone."

"You encourage everyone."

"You stand beside your brother."

"But what happens when you’re the one who needs help?"

Seraphina tightened her grip.

"I can handle myself."

"That’s not an answer."

The reflection attacked.

Seraphina blocked.

Golden energy exploded.

BOOM!

The battle began.

Caelan’s trial was different.

His reflection constantly changed weapons.

Sword.

Spear.

Bow.

Dagger.

Each time Caelan adapted, the reflection changed again.

Lyanna’s reflection remained almost completely invisible.

She couldn’t see it.

She had to fight using instinct.

Orin faced a reflection that attacked his allies instead of him.

He was forced to choose between chasing the enemy and protecting the others.

Every trial was different.

Yet the purpose remained the same.

They were being forced to confront something within themselves.

Azrael watched for a moment.

Then he looked toward the center of the chamber.

The path was still closed.

They couldn’t advance until everyone completed their trials.

Azrael didn’t interfere.

This wasn’t his battle.

It was theirs.

So he waited.

Nearly forty minutes later, Seraphina finally stepped away from her reflection.

Her opponent had disappeared.

She stood quietly.

Azrael approached.

"You okay?"

She smiled.

"Yeah."

"What did it show you?"

Seraphina thought about it.

"That I rely too much on being useful to everyone."

Azrael remained silent.

She continued.

"I always thought protecting people meant I had to be strong enough to handle everything myself."

She looked at him.

"But that’s not true."

Azrael smiled.

"You’ve learned something."

Seraphina nodded.

"Yes."

She looked toward the center.

"I don’t have to carry everything alone."

Azrael nodded.

"Good."

One by one, the others completed their trials.

Caelan emerged with a small smile.

Lyanna looked thoughtful.

Orin looked exhausted.

When the final reflection disappeared—

The entire chamber lit up.

[Trial of Self Complete]

All Participants Passed

Self-Understanding Increased

Mental Resistance Increased

Combat Adaptation Increased

Party Synchronization Increased

A staircase appeared in the center.

Orin immediately walked toward it.

"Finally."

Lyanna laughed.

"You really hate this floor."

"I hate fighting myself."

Caelan smiled.

"Why?"

"Because I already know all my bad habits."

Everyone laughed.

Azrael looked back at the mirrors.

Every reflection had disappeared.

Only one mirror remained.

His own.

Azrael approached it.

For a moment, he saw his normal reflection.

Then the image changed.

He saw himself standing beside Seraphina.

He saw them older.

Stronger.

Their wings completely awakened.

Then the image disappeared.

Azrael stared at the empty mirror.

He didn’t know what the vision meant.

But he didn’t dwell on it.

There were still many floors ahead.

He turned away.

"Let’s go."

The group climbed the next staircase together.

Above them waited Floor Twelve.

And this time, Azrael had a feeling the Tower would demand something different from all of them.
