Genesis & Oblivion: The Celestial Evolution System
Chapter 92 — The Twelfth FloorChapter 92: Chapter 92 — The Twelfth Floor
The staircase was longer than the previous ones.
No one spoke for the first few minutes.
The events of the Eleventh Floor were still fresh in everyone’s minds.
Each of them had been forced to confront something personal.
For Azrael, it had been the realization that his greatest strength came from his ability to change.
For Seraphina, it had been accepting that she didn’t have to protect everyone alone.
For Caelan, Lyanna, and Orin, the Tower had revealed weaknesses they would normally never discuss.
Eventually, Orin broke the silence.
"I’ve decided something."
Lyanna looked at him.
"What?"
"I’m never looking into another mirror again."
Caelan laughed.
"That’s your solution?"
"Yes."
Seraphina smiled.
"Then the Tower has already taught you something."
Orin sighed.
"I was afraid you’d say that."
Azrael smiled as he continued climbing.
The atmosphere was lighter now.
They had become more comfortable with one another.
Not because they had forgotten their differences.
Because they had begun accepting them.
Finally, the staircase ended.
A massive silver door stood before them.
Unlike the previous floors, there was no inscription.
Azrael stepped forward.
The door opened by itself.
A cold breeze immediately swept across the group.
Beyond the entrance was a vast white plain.
Snow covered everything.
Mountains stretched across the horizon.
The sky was completely gray.
Yet there was no snowfall.
Azrael activated Origin Perception.
His expression changed.
"There is no natural energy here."
Caelan immediately understood.
"This entire floor is isolated."
"Yes."
Seraphina stepped forward.
Her golden aura weakened slightly.
"I can’t feel the environment."
Lyanna tried activating her shadow energy.
It responded slowly.
Orin raised his shield.
"My strength feels normal."
Azrael nodded.
"Mine doesn’t."
Everyone looked at him.
Azrael examined his hand.
His energy was still present.
But the connection between his body and the surrounding world felt completely different.
The System appeared.
[Floor Twelve]
The Trial of Isolation
Objective:
Cross the Frozen Expanse.
Special Rule:
External energy regeneration is disabled.
Additional Rule:
No assistance from outside sources.
Failure Condition:
Exhaustion before reaching the destination.
Orin looked across the enormous plain.
"How far?"
Azrael activated Origin Perception.
"At least fifty kilometers."
Orin’s face fell.
"Fifty?"
Caelan looked toward the distant mountains.
"And we can’t recover our energy."
Azrael nodded.
"Which means this isn’t about strength."
Seraphina smiled.
"It’s endurance."
"Partly."
Azrael looked toward the snow.
"There’s something else."
He crouched.
His fingers touched the ground.
The snow was freezing.
But beneath it...
Something moved.
Azrael’s eyes narrowed.
"We’re not alone."
The ground suddenly exploded.
BOOM!
A gigantic creature emerged from beneath the snow.
It looked like a wolf.
But it was nearly ten meters tall.
Its body was covered in white fur.
Six crystalline horns extended from its head.
The System immediately identified it.
[Frost Devourer]
Rank: High Mortal
Ability: Energy Consumption
Special Trait:
Consumes external energy released during combat.
Orin raised his shield.
"So that’s the reason."
The beast roared.
A wave of frost spread across the ground.
Everyone moved.
Azrael immediately realized something.
"Don’t use large techniques."
Caelan lowered his spear.
"Because it will consume them."
"Exactly."
The beast charged.
Orin stepped forward.
BOOM!
Its claws slammed into his shield.
Orin’s feet dug into the snow.
"Heavy!"
Seraphina raised her staff.
Instead of using a large healing spell, she created a thin golden barrier around Orin.
The beast struck again.
The barrier cracked.
Lyanna appeared behind it.
Her dagger struck between two scales.
The creature turned.
Lyanna immediately disappeared.
Caelan moved in.
A short burst of wind pushed the creature sideways.
Azrael followed.
Astraeus flashed.
CLANG!
His sword struck the creature’s horn.
The beast stumbled.
Azrael didn’t pursue.
"Don’t waste energy."
Everyone understood.
They had to fight efficiently.
Not overwhelmingly.
The beast attacked again.
This time, Orin didn’t block.
He stepped aside.
The creature’s claws struck the ground.
Lyanna attacked its exposed side.
Caelan followed with a short spear thrust.
Seraphina reinforced Orin’s shield.
Azrael struck once.
Then they separated.
No unnecessary techniques.
No wasted movement.
The beast became increasingly frustrated.
Finally, Azrael saw an opening.
"Orin."
"Yeah?"
"Hold it for three seconds."
Orin grinned.
"That’s all?"
"That’s all."
Orin charged.
The Frost Devourer roared.
Its claws descended.
Orin planted his shield.
BOOM!
The impact shook the entire plain.
Orin’s knees bent.
But he held.
"One!"
Azrael moved.
"Two!"
The beast pushed harder.
Orin gritted his teeth.
"Three!"
Azrael disappeared.
Astraeus pierced the creature’s chest.
BOOM!
The beast froze.
A black line appeared across its body.
Then it collapsed into the snow.
The System appeared.
[Frost Devourer Defeated]
Energy Consumption: Minimal
Combat Efficiency: Excellent
Team Coordination: Increased
Orin dropped onto the snow.
"That..."
He breathed heavily.
"...was actually harder than it looked."
Seraphina walked over and placed a hand on his shoulder.
A soft golden light surrounded him.
His breathing immediately stabilized.
Orin smiled.
"Thanks."
She nodded.
"Save your strength."
They continued.
The Frozen Expanse was far more difficult than expected.
The cold never changed.
Their energy didn’t regenerate.
Every step required effort.
After ten kilometers, Orin’s breathing became heavier.
After twenty, even Caelan became quieter.
At thirty kilometers, Lyanna stumbled once.
Seraphina immediately supported her.
Azrael remained at the front.
He wasn’t unaffected.
His body was also becoming tired.
But he noticed something.
The more he walked...
The more his body adapted.
His footsteps became lighter.
His breathing became more efficient.
His energy consumption decreased.
The System appeared.
[Adaptive Evolution Activated]
Environmental Adaptation: Frost
Progress: 12%
Cold Resistance Increased
Energy Conservation Increased
Azrael smiled.
"So that’s what this floor is testing."
Caelan looked toward him.
"Your ability to adapt?"
"Yes."
"Then the Tower is helping you."
Azrael shook his head.
"No."
He looked toward the endless snow.
"It’s giving us conditions where adaptation becomes necessary."
Caelan smiled.
"There’s a difference."
"A big one."
Several hours passed.
The mountains were finally close.
A narrow valley appeared between them.
At its center stood a massive stone monument.
The destination.
But before they could celebrate—
The snow behind them moved.
Azrael turned.
Another Frost Devourer emerged.
Then another.
Then another.
Three massive beasts stood across the plain.
Orin stared.
"You have got to be kidding me."
The System appeared.
[Final Section Activated]
Remaining Distance: 3 Kilometers
New Condition:
Defeat or evade the Frost Devourers.
Energy Regeneration: Disabled
Caelan tightened his grip on his spear.
"Three."
Lyanna looked toward Azrael.
"Can we avoid them?"
Azrael studied the creatures.
Then the terrain.
The narrow valley.
The steep mountains.
The snow-covered cliffs.
He smiled.
"Yes."
Orin blinked.
"Really?"
"We don’t need to defeat them."
Azrael pointed toward the mountains.
"We only need to reach the monument."
Caelan understood immediately.
"We use the terrain."
Azrael nodded.
The group turned and ran.
The Frost Devourers charged behind them.
The ground shook with every step.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
Azrael led them toward the narrow valley.
At the entrance, he suddenly stopped.
"Now!"
Everyone moved according to the plan.
Caelan released a small burst of wind.
Lyanna struck the cliffside.
Orin slammed his shield into the ground.
Seraphina released a controlled burst of Genesis energy.
The mountain trembled.
RUMBLE!
Snow and ice collapsed from above.
An avalanche crashed down.
The beasts roared.
Azrael grabbed Seraphina’s hand.
"Move!"
The group sprinted through the valley.
Behind them, the avalanche buried the three creatures.
They didn’t stop until they reached the monument.
The System appeared.

He nodded.
"It’s progressing faster."
Caelan looked toward the monument.
"And we’ve reached the destination."
A staircase appeared behind it.
Unlike the previous staircases, this one was much wider.
Golden light illuminated the steps.
Orin looked upward.
"How many more floors?"
No one answered.
Azrael looked at the staircase.
"We’ll find out."
The group rested for several minutes before continuing.
Then, together, they began climbing toward the Thirteenth Floor.
