Kiyomi had done her research, so she knew that this was the end of the initiation process; however, something unexpected happened. A small circular-shaped object appeared before her and began to spin before Tia began to speak, “The Warden has designated you as someone they wish to grant an opportunity to. Should you accept, you won’t be sent to one of the normal Eloa continents' starter villages but one in the underworld.”

“An opportunity!” Kiyomi said in excitement before asking. “You're granting me an opportunity?”

“I am not,” Tia replied, causing Kiyomi’s excited expression to falter before she continued. “The Warden is granting you an opportunity, one he himself received but did not choose to take.”

“The Warden?” Kiyomi asked while tilting her head.

“The Warden is the newest class discovered within Genesis and is the one who aids the Goddess of Creation, Tijuana, in keeping balance. While his opportunities differ from mine, do not look down on them, as they are far rarer but no less rewarding than my own,” Tia explained.

Upon hearing Tia’s words, Kiyomi’s excitement returned, and she asked, “And what is this opportunity?”

“Before you is the item known as the Sheolarbiter badge,” Tia began. “It allows the wearer to meet the Seven Kings of the Underworld, who will test you and your capability to become a Sheolarbiter.

Sheolarbiters are front-line melee fighters with magical capabilities who guard the doors of death to prevent both denizens of the underworld from leaving as well as assist those who have passed but are not yet ready to move on, but be warned. You have not earned the Sheolarbiter badge through your own efforts, and because of this, should you accept it, you will gain a distinct advantage over all other players in becoming the first Sheolarbiter, and as such, you will be required to pay a cost.”

“I don’t really have many credits,” Kiyomi said meekly, causing Tia’s mouth to twitch into what, for a second, looked like an amused smile.

“The cost is not in credits or gold,” Tia continued. “Should you accept, you will be trapped in the underworld until you complete ten quests there and obtain your chosen class. Only after that will you be able to return to the realm of the living and play with your friends.”

Kiyomi nodded in understanding before asking, “Are there any downsides to remaining in the underworld?”

“Normally, you would not be able to enter until you gained protection against the underworld's miasma; however, the Sheolarbiter badge protects you against that,” Tia explained before Kiyomi asked. “Are there no other players in the underworld?”

“At present, there is one who has the chance to obtain a different underworld exclusive class than yourself; however, I can’t say how long they will remain or if others will come,” Tia replied, causing Kiyomi to fall into silence for a short while before asking something unexpected, “What do you think I should do?”

Tia’s eyes flashed with interest before saying, “I would suggest you accept. The cost is not too steep, and the Sheolarbiter is a powerful class that will only be even better should you be the first to achieve it. Also, doing so will create a connection between you and the Warden, something I believe you will be most grateful for in the future.”

“Can you tell me who this warden is and why he chose me?” Kiyomi asked hopefully, only for Tia’s response to disappoint her. “No, as with all players, I will not reveal their identity unless forced to. If you wish to learn it, you will have to find it out yourself, just as you will have to find out why he chose you. I can, however, give you a message he asked me to pass on to you.”

“Please do,” Kiyomi nodded, to which Tia simply said. “Happy Birthday.”

Kiyomi’s eyes widened in surprise upon hearing that, before she tried to quickly think of who it could have been that gave her the badge while knowing it was her birthday. However, considering she didn’t have many friends and no one in her family that she was friendly with had this Warden class, she honestly had no idea.

“Do you accept the Sheolarbiter badge, or would you like to begin Genesis like everyone else?” Tia asked.

Kiyomi took a deep breath before firmly nodding and saying, “I accept.” And as she finished speaking, the Sheolarbiter badge flew towards her before disappearing inside.

The last thing she heard before everything turned to darkness and she returned to the real world was Tia saying, “Initiation complete. I hope you enjoy your time in Genesis, Kiyomi Spencer. I hope you prove to be a valuable ally to my Warden."

The instant the lockout ended, John logged back into Genesis and appeared before Lord Ursa in a clearing surrounded by trees, who opened one eye and looked at him while saying, “Welcome, Vincarna, to the Seven Circles Enclave.”

“Greetings, Lord Ursa; it’s an honour to see you again,” John said while giving a slight bow.

Lord Ursa made a contented noise and was about to speak again when John was suddenly surrounded by several dozens elves, while seven of them stepped forward and one ordered, “On your knees, human.”

“What is the meaning of this?” Lord Ursa asked angrily as he rose to his full height and towered over everyone. “You dare aim your weapons at my guest?”

“Your guest?” A male elf asked in surprise. “You failed to inform us that a human would be visiting as your guest, Lord Ursa. As far as I can remember, no human has ever set foot here.”

“And why should I need to tell you about any individuals whom I invite into my domain?” Lord Ursa asked. “Remember, elf, you are only allowed to reside here because I allow it.”

“Of course, Lord Ursa, please forgive me,” The elf quickly said while bowing, before a rustling came from some trees surrounding the clearing and Dream Star appeared in the clearing before rolling her eyes as she saw the situation. “I figured it was you.”

John just gave her a small shrug while a female elf curiously asked, “Dream Star, you know this human?”

“I do, Elder Elduin,” Dream Star replied. “His name is Vincarna, and he was the one I told you about, the one who received Lord Ursa’s blessing.”

“He’s the one who saved the young bear cub and was chosen by the Seven Kings of the Underworld to be the Sheolarbiter?” Elder Elduin asked in shock as all the elves began to intently study John.

“He is,” Lord Ursa stated before looking at John keenly and saying, “Though he is no Sheolarbiter.”

“What!” Mel said in surprise before giving John a quizzical look as Lord Ursa said. “You have exceeded my expectations, young Vincarna; I never expected you to be chosen by the Goddess of Creation herself and become the Warden.”

“Goddess of Creation,” Several of the elves said in shock, while only the seven at the forefront seemed to understand the meaning of the Warden, as another male elf said, “Goddess Tijuana chose a human to become the Warden?”

“It’s unthinkable,” Another replied. “They are one of the greediest races.”

“I am sure the Goddess of Creation has her reasons and can see something we can not, something Lord Ursa could not even see.”

Lord Ursa glanced at the female elf who had just spoken and asked, “Ho! Are you suggesting I couldn’t spot Vincarna’s potential and merely gave him my blessing on a whim, Rosaniya Thesys?”

“Of course not, Lord Ursa; please forgive my poor choice of words,” Rosaniya quickly said.

“I would kindly inform the council that Vincarna is not just my friend but also the friend of the elvin Princess, Silver Oracle,” Dream Star stated. “For it was he who helped prevent the human necromancer from summoning pestilence.”

“WHAT!” The seven council members said in surprise, while even Lord Ursa gave him a surprised look as John thought, {She’s laying it on a bit thick, isn’t she? Why does she seem so able when it comes to exaggerating what actually happened?}

“If what Dream Star says is true, and as Lord Ursa’s guest, you are indeed more than welcome here,” One of the seven council members stated before continuing. “We are the council of the Council of Seven, and I am Tiriana Thezorwyn, leader of the 'Circle of the Moon'.

To my left we have Ascal Pajyre, leader of the 'Circle of the Land', Melandrach Erydark, leader of the 'Circle of the Tempest ', and Elduin Trisric, leader of the 'Circle of the Stars'.

While to my right are Syllia Qiphine, leader of the 'Circle of the Shepherd', Ciliren Omasalor, leader of the 'Circle of the Dreams', and Rosaniya Thesys, leader of the 'Circle of the Harvest’.”

John offered them a polite bow before saying in Elvish, “My name is Vincarna, and as Lord Ursa has informed you, I am the Warden.”
