Chapter 103: Wild Morph: Bear

“You know them?” John asked in surprise, causing Mel to sigh and say. “Unfortunately. Jessica Marks is the Daughter of Steven Marks, the Minister in charge of the Silver Region. While Stephenie Saunders is the niece of Clifford Saunders, the owner and CEO of Saunders Incorporated and cousin of Sarah's ex, Daniel Saunders. Both are due to enrol at Eloa Continental University this year.”

“Small world,” John remarked. “I wonder how Jessica Marks would have reacted if she knew who I was?”

“Probably best if you don't find out. I suggest you steer clear of them," Mel warned, to which John just scoffed and said. “They're not my type; I'm not into actual spoiled brats.”

“Oh! And here I thought you actually saw me as one of them,” Mel replied, to which John simply said. “If I did, we wouldn't be hanging out.”

Mel's smile turned slightly flirtatious as she leaned forward while asking in a silky smooth tone, “And what is your type?”

However, before he could react, the pair heard a cough followed by Elder Syllia saying with a smile, “While it's nice to see you both so close, might I suggest you save your flirting for when you're not in the presence of Lord Ursa?”

“What? Flirting?” John asked in surprise while Mel blushed in embarrassment.

{Were we actually flirting?} John wondered as Mel said, “Right name, help me pick a name and I'll treat you to dinner.”

“I guess I have no choice,” John replied before falling into thought as he scratched the little cub's head.

Everyone was silent as they patiently waited, but even after a few minutes, nothing came to mind, and so John looked around as if hoping to find inspiration, and as he did, his eyes fell on Lord Ursa, who was looking down on him.

An idea formed in his mind before he said, "Lord Ursa, might I request that Dream Star be allowed to name this little one Ursel, after yourself. You have aided us both a great deal recently, and it only seems fitting.”

The eyes of everyone widened in surprise upon hearing his request, as even the parent looked up hopefully towards Lord Ursa, since she knew it would be a great privilege for her cub to receive such a name.

"How interesting. Very well, I see no problem with this; go ahead." Ursa replied with what John thought was a pleased tone before he nodded towards Mel, who smiled back at him before asking the bear cub. “How about that little one? Would you like to be named Ursel, in honour of Lord Ursa?”

“Ursel, Ursel”, the little cub said as if trying out the name before it jumped around Mel happily while saying, “I am a big human friend. My name is Ursel.”

"Very well then, now that you have decided on this little one's name, you must complete the bond,” Elder Tiriana said with a smile while retrieving a small dagger and explaining. "You will need to place a drop of your blood on the little one's forehead and then speak the following spell.

We form this bond so that we may support each other in our necessities. I name thee Ursel.”

Mel nodded and cut her finger with the knife before placing her bloody finger against Ursel's head as she recounted the spell in perfect Elvish, something that surprised John.

The blood shone for a moment before vanishing inside Ursel's head, and as it did, John noticed how Mel’s eyes widened in surprise before she once again showed the indication of reading a notification.

Eventually she beamed in happiness again as she turned to look at him and said, “Looks like I owe you dinner.”

“I take that to mean it worked, congratulations,” John said with a smile, causing the look in Mel’s eyes to change for a moment into something that to John almost seemed like desire. However, the look vanished as quickly as it had come as Mel suddenly said, "Wild Morph Bear.”

And after she did, her body fell forwards onto all fours as it began to expand outwards, as her limbs got thicker, her mouth and nose extended out into a maw while her ears grew longer, and as John watched in surprise, he saw fur beginning to grow all over her body until a large bear stood before him and asked in a tone that was far deeper than Mel’s normal one, “So, how do I look?”

“Cool,” John said honestly, causing Mel’s maw to break out in a smile as Elder Tiriana asked, “How do you feel, Dream Star?”

"Strange, this will take some getting used to," Mel replied as she lifted one of her front paws and examined it.

"That's natural, since this is your first time and you're so used to moving around on two legs instead of the four you have now. All you need to do is spend time in this form, and you will grow accustomed to it,” Elder Tiriana explained.

"Wow! Big human bear friend looks so beautiful,” Ursel said in amazement before jumping around Mel and saying. “Let's go play, let's go play."

“Someone's got a crush on you,” John teased, causing Mel to shoot him a sidelong glance and ask. “What? Jealous?”

“Nah, I prefer your regular appearance.” John replied, causing Mel to look away for some reason while saying, “I’ll keep that in mind.”

"Ursel makes a good suggestion;” Elder Tiriana remarked. “Young bears learn from playing, so maybe you should do the same as a way to get used to your new form."

"Ok that sounds good. Let's go, Ursel." Mel replied before she and Ursel ran off, while John watched them go before Lord Ursa asked, “Well now, what shall we do with you?”

“Pardon?” John asked as he turned back to the great starry bear.

“Astraea sent you to me because your Warden class reacted with my blessing, granting you primal abilities, but my plan to have you bond with little Ursel was ruined because of your generous nature and compassion for your friend,” Lord Ursa explained.

“I apologise,” John said with a slight bow before glancing towards where Mel and Ursa were playing while saying. “But it’s been many years since I had friends, and I remembered how excited Dream Star was when you told her she could become a druid. I didn’t like the idea of her falling short at the first hurdle because she’s a human, and beasts of the wild do not trust them as much as elves.”

“You speak as if you yourself are not human,” Leader Elduin remarked, causing John to shrug and say. “I don’t have the best experience with them, and for the longest time I wished I had been born in any of the other races.”

“Such is why you were chosen as the Warden,” Lord Ursa replied. “Your actions just now proved that while you are not fond of your own race, you are also not biased against them.”

“Are you sure I didn’t do it because she's one of the first friends I’ve had in years?” John replied, to which Lord Ursa chuckled and said. “Perhaps, but the Goddess of Creation doesn’t choose those who would be Warden lightly; hence why it has been so long since the last of your kind appeared.”

John shrugged before saying, “Honestly, I’m still not certain what it is a Warden is supposed to do.”

“This you will learn over time, but for now we must decide what to do about your primal abilities,” Lord Ursa replied before going silent as he considered what course he should take, when suddenly a deep laugh was heard before starlight began to fall from the sky and a female voice said. “How about I make a suggestion, Ursa?”

All the elves and John watched in surprise as the starlight began to gather and take shape, and even Mel and Urself had stopped playing to observe the sudden appearance of another of the constellations.

This one took on the form of a large bull, and it lowered its head to gaze upon John while saying, “Greetings, Vincarna, I am Taurus.”

“Sorry, what?” John asked in surprise while the elves all offered the constellation bows of respect.

Taurus showed a look of surprise, or as much of one as a bull could, before asking curiously, “Does my appearance surprise you?”

“No, it’s your voice,” John replied before adding. “I mean no disrespect, but you have an awfully feminine voice for a bull.”

“Ah, I see,” Taurus replied before its form once again broke into starlight that began to rearrange itself into a beautiful humanoid woman with long brown hair, green eyes and a pair of horns atop her head. She wore a beautiful green dress that did little to hide the ample cleavage of her extremely large breasts.

“Perhaps you prefer me in this form,” Taurus asked before adding in an amused tone. “Just as you prefer your friend in her human form?”
