“It's not that, Lord Ursa; it's just that she's…” the parent began, only for Mel to suddenly stand back up and say in a determined voice. “I'm a druid and proud to be one. I have dreamed of becoming one ever since I was a small girl and heard tales of the elven druids' adventures. While I admit I was only able to become one thanks to my friend here and Lord Ursa's blessing, I aim to become the best druid in the world and would be honoured to form a bond with your cub.”
As soon as she finished speaking, a light laugh was heard before a beam of golden-rainbow coloured light descended from the heavens and engulfed Dream Star, causing everyone to quickly back away while Elder Ascal exclaimed, “What the!” “Is it Tijuana again?” John asked in surprise.
“No,” Lord Ursa replied. “Tijuana's light beam is pure gold of a far greater magnitude than the other gods, signifying her position as the Goddess of Creation. This one is more of a golden-rainbow colour, which signifies those gods belonging to the Alfar Pantheon.”
As they all watched, they suddenly smelt the scent of sweet spring flowers while cats appeared and began walking around Dream Star's legs as white-tailed falcons circled above her.
“Freyja,” Lord Ursa muttered just before the beam of light vanished along with the cats and falcons; only the scent of spring flowers lingered in the air.
Mel stood there in shock with her mouth slightly open while her eyes swiftly moved from left to right, indicating to John that she was reading a notification.
“Tell me, young Dream Star,” Lord Ursa suddenly said, attracting her attention. “Did you just receive the Goddess Freyja’s blessing?”
“What! The Goddess Freya?” Elder Ascal asked in surprise, while all the elves showed looks of reverence.
“Freyja?” John asked. “I know she’s a goddess revered by the elves, but know little more.”
“She is the Alfar goddess of love, beauty, fertility, gold, war, and magic,” Lord Ursa explained as Mel turned to him and nodded while saying. “I did, Lord Ursa. The Goddess Freyja granted me her blessing after hearing my heartfelt speech.”
John showed a look of surprise upon hearing the confirmation before wondering, {Why would a goddess of the elves grant her blessing to a human? Is it really just because she became a druid?}
Lord Ursa nodded before looking at the parent of the little cub and asking, “The Goddess Freyja has deemed this one worthy enough to receive her blessing; do you still believe she is unworthy to bond with your cub?”
“I do not, Lord Ursa,” The parent said meekly. “Forgive my ignorance.”
“There is no harm in wishing to protect one's own cub, but at some point you must let them choose their own path,” Lord Ursa replied before turning to John and asking with a sigh. “What am I to do with you?”
“Excuse me?” John asked in confusion.
“I summoned the little one, and its parent here so that you could bond with it; never did I expect you to instead bestow this upon your friend,” Lord Ursa explained before looking at Mel and saying. “You have a true friend here, young Dream Star. Even though he knew not what I had planned, he still went out of his way to help you complete the quest you were having difficulty with.”
“I am aware, Lord Ursa; he has helped me far more than I have helped him,” Mel replied before turning to John and giving him a radiant smile that made his heart skip a beat. ” Every time I meet him, I seem to owe him more and more; he truly is a great friend.”

“Friend,” John asked with a smirk before adding in a teasing tone. “I don’t remember becoming friends with such a troublesome individual.”
Mel blushed slightly before giving a pout and saying, “Hmph, well, I’ve accepted you as my friend, so count yourself lucky, as there are only a very small number of people who fall into that category.”
“You really are a spoiled princess,” John sighed. “Are you sure you're not really Adria in disguise?”
“No, but you're close,” Mel said with a teasing smile as amusement danced in her eyes.
“Well then, little one,” Lord Ursa said as he addressed the cub. “Do you wish to form a bond with this young druid here?”
The cub tilted its head and looked up at Mel curiously, who smiled hopefully back at it before it turned its head and looked at John, who gave it a small nod.
The cub continued to stare at John before asking, “Is she your friend, big human friend?”
John chuckled before saying, “She likes to think so.” Something that earned him a gentle punch on the shoulder.
The cub tilted its head again as it observed Mel’s action before asking, “Then why does she hit you?”
Mel’s eyes widened in panic as she heard the question, while John just smiled and said, “She just wishes to play-fight with me. Don’t you play-fight with your siblings?”
Mel flushed as she heard the term wishes to play-fight with me but opted against hitting him again since the bear nodded and said, “Yes, we do it to become stronger. Mother says it will help us hunt and protect ourselves in the future.”
“Exactly,” John nodded. “Dream Star here wants to bond with you so that she can become stronger, as she needs your strength. In return, she will come to your aid should you ever need it.”
The little bear thought for a moment before turning to Mel and asking, “Is big human friend too strong for you, and that’s why you need my help?”
John laughed while Mel showed a look of surprise before crouching down and saying, “That’s right. Vincarna here is very strong, and I want to grow stronger so that I can remain by his side.”
“Big human friend is strong, but so are you, second big human friend,” The cub stated before surprising everyone with what it said. “I saw both big human friends fight against and defeat big human evil.”
“Wait, you saw that?” Mel asked in surprise, while John frowned and said. “I told you to stay with your parent.”
“I wanted to play with big human friend more, so I snuck away and followed you and saw you both defeat big human evil before you disappeared.”
“What is this big human evil the little one refers to?” Syllia asked.
“It was back in Dawn Village, a human settlement; a human had been corrupted by something and…” Dream Star began to explain.
“Foolish human,” Elder Rosaniya scoffed. “Probably was messing with forbidden magic.”
“I don’t think so,” Mel replied. “We saw the same corruption on Goddess Elrinia’s sister.”
“Goddess Elrinia’s sister?” Elder Melandrach repeated with a frown before saying. “Well, that’s different. Something that can corrupt a denizen of the underworld, which by nature is from the same aspect as dark magic, is something far more dangerous than what can corrupt a human.”
“Indeed, it is something we should investigate, as it may upset the natural order,” Elder Tiriana replied with a frown. However, the frown soon vanished as it turned into a smile as she looked at the little cub and said, “But right now we have something far more enjoyable to observe. Tell us, little one, do you wish to bond with Young Dream Star?”
The little cub looked up at Mel again before nodding and saying, “I do.”
Mel’s smile brightened up upon hearing the answer as Elder Tiriana nodded and said, “Young Dream Star, you must choose a name for this little one.”
“A name? Oh man, I’ve never been good at choosing names. It took me ages to come up with Dream Star,” Mel mumbled before turning to John and saying. “Help me.”
“Weren't you just saying that you already owe me too much?” John asked in amusement. “Yet now you want me to help you pick a name?”
“Please,” Dream Star begged as she placed her hands together in front of her. “I’ve always been bad at picking names, and it will take me forever to decide on a suitable one. I’ll owe you big time if you help me.”
“Are you sure the reason you don’t have many friends is because your so demanding of them?” John asked in a teasing tone that caused Mel to flush again before saying with a pout. “No, it’s… a more complicated reason.”
{That must be quite the complicated reason considering how lively she is.} John thought, just as Mel had an idea and said happily. “If you help me choose a name, I’ll treat you to dinner; we can even go to Nine Tailed Abundance since you couldn’t eat there yesterday.”
“How do you know I couldn’t eat there yesterday?” John asked in surprise, causing Mel’s eyes to widen in panic before she waved her hands in front of her and said. “Sarah told me, yup, Sarah. She said you had some trouble with Jessica Marks and Stephenie Sauders.”
