Chapter 48: Six and a half days while also dying twenty-four timesFrank noticed his arrival and approached him while asking, "Vincarna, welcome back. Here for more training?"
"That's correct. I need to finish unarmed combat before moving on to the next weapon," John answered excitedly before walking towards an empty circle in the unarmed combat section.
"Oh, how many weapons do you plan to learn?" Frank asked curiously while following him.
"All of them," John said while glancing back over his shoulder.
Frank froze for a moment before he broke out in laughter, which caught the attention of the other trainers and players, before he slapped John on the shoulder, making the latter stumble while shying, “Good, good. I don’t think anyone has ever mastered every weapon; I can’t wait to see it. Oh, but before you begin training on the staff, come find me; I want to teach you something.”
“Teach me something?” John asked as he rubbed the shoulder where Frank had hit him.
“Yup, I’ll be waiting,” Frank said before he turned away. John watched him go with a puzzled expression before he shrugged and stepped into the circle to continue his unarmed combat training.
"Frank, what's so funny?" the halfling trainer asked with a smile.
"Vincarna just told me he plans to train in every single weapon we have here."
"Seriously? Has anyone ever achieved that apart from us trainers who spend every day here?"
"Definitely not in Dawn Village, and I can't say I’ve heard of it in any other villages either." The Kitsune who was the oldest of the trainers stated.
"Well, this will be interesting. Who wants to bet if he can do it or not?" Frank asked, causing the other trainers to shake their heads and step away while saying. "No chance, not after we lost the last bet to you on how long that kid would last.
In the training circle, John was once again busy practising the moves shown by the projection and as normal, after six hours his vision faded as notifications filled his screen.

As his vision returned, he did his usual of scanning the notifications before quickly heading back to the Weapons Hall, where he continued training. Finally, after three more hours, the projection vanished and was replaced by several notifications.

Happy with his results, he left the circle and headed towards Frank while doing some calculations in his head, {So before getting Parry and Basic Mastery, I died twice for each and it's six hours before you die from hunger, which makes twelve altogether. Judging by what the time was when I started training Basic Unarmed Mastery and the time I logged out at to go shopping, then take the time I logged back in and the time I died before until right now, the answer should be around thirteen hours.
It takes thirteen hours and two deaths minimum to learn a basic mastery, so all eleven weapons and the parry skill means we’re going to be here for one hundred and fifty-six hours, which is six and a half days, while also dying twenty-four times at minimum.)
"Shit," John cursed out loud as he came to this conclusion, causing Frank to turn to him and ask, "Something wrong, Vincarna?"
"Nah am good. I just realised something; don't worry about it, anyway I finished the unarmed training and so came to talk to you about the staff since you said you had something to teach me?"
"Oh! Already done, huh? Good job," Frank said before he bent down to a weapon container near his desk and pulled out a wooden staff, which he then handed to John. "Here you go; use this for training."
[Item Received:]
[Basic Wooden Staff]
[Rank: Common (White)]
[ATP: 1]
[Basic Wooden Staff: A Basic Wooden Staff that is used for training and has very little ATP.]
[Attention: You currently have no weapon equipped; would you like to equip this weapon?]
[Yes] [No]
"Yes," John said
[Basic Wooden Staff Equipped]
"Thanks," John said gratefully, causing Frank to chuckle before saying, “Don’t worry about it; you can’t exactly learn how to wield a weapon without the weapon after all.”
“True,” John nodded before asking. “So what did you want to teach me?”
“The staff isn’t like the other weapons since its primary purpose is not really to hit with but as a conduit for magic,” Frank began. “Naturally, you can cast magic without a staff or other magical equipment, but your spells will never be as powerful. Because of this, the staff weapon training focuses both on physical attacks should the enemy get too close and also how to cast magic.”
“You're going to teach me how to cast magic?” John asked excitedly.
“Whoa there, kiddo, slow your horses,” Frank said with a chuckle. “I’m only going to teach you the basic magic spell, arcane bolts, which you'll then use during your training in the circle.”
“Awesome,” John said with a smile.
“Just something to note before I teach it to you, though. The training circle has a hidden feature to it that continuously replenishes your mana, meaning that you can continue practising without fear of running out. But do well to remember that's only the case within the circle; once you leave the circle, the magic will come from your mana reserves, which can run out, understand?”
“Understood,” John nodded.
“Good, here,” Frank replied before waving his hand towards John.
[Learned Spell: Arcane Missiles (Rank 1)]
[Arcane Missiles: Fire a single arcane missile at your target, doing damage. Subsequent ranks of this spell increase the number of missiles fired.]
[Arcane Element]
[Instant Cast]
[Damage: 15 + M ATP Damage]
[Cost: 10 MP]
[Cooldown: 1 Second.]
“HECK YEAH!” John cheered as he threw his arms up in the air, causing several of the nearby players and trainers to give him strange looks.
“What are you so happy about?” A familiar voice asked as Dream Star or Mel appeared beside him.
“I just learnt my first attack spell, check it out,” John said excitedly before sending the details to Mel, who nodded and said. “Arcane missiles, yeah, I already learnt it since I plan to be a sorcerer like Sarah.
“Oh cool,” John replied before asking. “Did you only just log in?”
“No muppet, I just got back from the graveyard,” Mel chuckled. “I did log in a few hours late because something came up, but as I saw you were already training, I decided to get to it too.”
As she finished speaking, she turned and walked away while waving as she called back, “Speaking of which, I better get back to it. I can’t have you getting too far ahead of me now, can I?”
“I’m happy to see two such dedicated students,” Frank said happily, causing John to smile at him before he turned and headed for one of the circles in the staff section.
Once he stepped into the circle, John started following the projections' directions as before; however, this time it wasn’t just physical attacks using the staff that he had to practice but also the correct positioning and form on how to cast arcane missiles. Like this, six hours passed before the inevitable happened.
[You have died]
[Loss of 1 level]
[Level: 1>>0]
[Because you died in the starter village, you will not suffer the 24-hour logout penalty or have any of your stat points reduced]
[Re-spawning at the closest Re-spawn sight]
As before, John respawned in the graveyard before clearing away the notifications and quickly heading back to the Weapons Hall, where he continued his training and seven hours later the projection vanished and was replaced by several notifications.
