Kai exhaled slowly as he looked over the chamber and the piles of loot he could store...

"Cannon Ball... This is too good."

As soon as he finished looking around, he checked out his inventory. He knew he had to be careful with what he carried. With only nine slots available, every decision mattered.

He opened his status window, scanning the list...

Kai frowned. "Nine slots... and I’m already full. If I want those cannon balls, I’ll have to make space."

His eyes lingered on the Fangpiercer Daggers.

They were small, easy to conceal, and linked together as a pair.

He pulled them out of his inventory, sliding them into his waist sheath and covered them with his Survivor Jacket... That freed one slot.

Next, he turned to the Titanbreaker Axe. The weapon was massive, heavy, and far too conspicuous. Carrying it openly would only draw suspicion, especially since it had belonged to mercenaries hired by the Cancer Faction.

The Crimson Phase Blade was already risky enough to keep. The daggers could be hidden, but the axe and blade were harder to explain.

Kai sighed. "Sorry, Titanbreaker. You’re too big."

With a flick of his hand, he removed the axe from his inventory, leaving it behind in the depot.

Now he had space.

He reached for the shimmering cannonballs stacked neatly in crates.

Their surface were shiny and seemed to be filled with Spirit energy. Chamber confirmed his suspicion earlier... these were forged from Aetherium, a material so rare it was practically priceless.

"I think we hit the jackpot, Chamber."

Kai’s lips curled into a grin as the system confirmed the addition.

"Perfect. These alone could probably upgrade Atom even more... or maybe I can trade it with the Gene Trader or something."

But the depot wasn’t finished surprising him. As he moved deeper into the chamber, he noticed another cache tucked behind the crates.

Smaller boxes, sealed with locks, lined the shelves. With Chamber’s assistance, the locks clicked open, revealing rows of compact devices.

Kai picked one up, turning it over in his hand.

It resembled a grenade, but its casing pulsed faintly with Spirit energy.

[ You have discovered Spirit Shock Orbs! ]

[ Grade: Rare Grade Consumable ]

[ Description: A compact explosive device that releases a concussive wave of Spirit energy upon detonation. Effective against mechanical units, temporarily disabling circuits and sensors. Limited effect on humans. ]

[ Note: Single‑use item. Highly volatile if mishandled. ]

Kai’s eyes widened. "Spirit Shock Orbs... Why are they keeping this? Wait... Maybe these things are confiscated or something?"

Nonetheless, what surprised Kai even more was the fact that he could actually store a crate!

Yes! Unlike the Traps and the Cannon Balls, he didn’t have to store them one by one!

He quickly stored them into his inventory and he realized that the crate seemed to be very special!

[ Spirit Crate x1 ]

Of course, Kai decided to store all these crates in front of him!

[ Spirit Crate x50 ]

Now his inventory read differently...

Kai nodded in satisfaction. "That’s better... Traps, consumables, cores, stimulants, and weapons..."

He glanced once more at the discarded Titanbreaker Axe, lying heavy and silent in the corner. "You’ll have to stay here. Too much baggage."

Kai then looked around trying to look for an item he could carry around... After all, it would be suspicious if there was nothing in his hands at all.

In the end, he decided to carry a crate filled with Plasma Cells! One crate contained at least 30 cells!

There were around 8 more crates of a similar kind, but he decided to just keep the rest inside the chamber.

He could just go back to loot them if given the chance.

In any case, with Chamber’s guidance, Kai sealed the depot again, ensuring no one else would stumble upon the hidden cache.

The corpses of the mercenaries remained inside, buried beneath crates and shadows...

Kai adjusted the daggers at his waist, feeling their weight against his side.

He exhaled, satisfied with the items with him... "Alright. Time to move."

Leaving the depot behind, Kai stepped back into the dim corridors of the fortress.

***

Kai tightened his grip on the crate of Plasma Cells as he moved to the exit...

Chamber guided him for some time, and soon he began to hear voices echoing ahead.

Survivors were gathering, many of them carrying sacks, crates, and bundles of scavenged loot.

"Alright... We’re here..."

One man moved past with a bag full of ration packs, while another hauled a crate of spare rifle parts.

A group nearby carried bundles of scrap alloys, and still, Kai guessed that they weren’t on par with Aetherium Alloy.

His eyes then moved across each load, cataloging silently... food, weapons, metals, stimulants. Nothing compared to the Aetherium cannonballs hidden in his inventory, but he kept that thought to himself.

Suddenly, shouts rang out.

"Enemy reinforcements are coming! Move it, everyone!"

The urgency rippled through the crowd, and the survivors quickened their pace.

Boots pounded against the stone floor as they rushed toward the exit.

Kai blended into the flow, the crate in his hands making him look like just another scavenger.

Yet he noticed the way several pairs of eyes lingered on him.

Plasma Cells weren’t as rare as Aetherium, but they were still valuable since they were basically fuel for Plasma Rifles, and he heard from Chamber that these cells could also be used for generators and defensive systems.

Just like that, whispers spread quickly.

"He’s carrying Plasma Cells... lucky bastard."

Kai heard it but he kept his expression neutral, adjusting the daggers hidden at his waist beneath his jacket.

He didn’t want attention, but he knew the crate gave him credibility among the looters.
