Traceless stared at the mission completion notification for a few moments before finally looking at the rewards.

The 1,500 Experience Points were already quite attractive...

He was just at 91% Experience Points a while ago, but he was now at 99%, only a short distance away from reaching Level 10...

"Almost there..."

After spending three days traveling with the caravan and fighting several powerful Horned Ironhide Beasts, he felt that this mission had been worth accepting.

However, there was something else that immediately caught his attention.

The Rare Item Chest.

’Let’s see what I can get.’

Traceless immediately opened his inventory and found the chest sitting quietly among his other items. It had a dark metallic appearance with faint blue patterns running across its surface, and although he knew that it was merely an item from a game, the chest still gave him a feeling of anticipation.

After all, this was a Rare Item Chest.

He had no idea what kind of reward could come out of it.

’Please give me something useful.’

Traceless tapped the chest and the moment he did so, the system immediately responded.

[ Rare Item Chest opened! ]

[ Congratulations! ]

[ You have obtained the following rewards: ]

[ Credits x2,000 ]

[ Rare Healing Potion x3 ]

[ Enhanced Strengthening Crystal x1 ]

[ Silverwind Cloak x1 ]

Traceless’s eyes immediately widened.

’Two thousand Credits?’

He was obviously interested in the Credits. After all, Credits were extremely useful in Perfect World, and he could use them to purchase various items through the game’s system.

Furthermore, he could use them in the real world as well!

Of course, the other rewards weren’t bad either.

The Rare Healing Potions were obviously valuable, especially when he considered the dangerous missions he would probably encounter after reaching Leonine Town.

As for the Enhanced Strengthening Crystal, he wasn’t entirely sure what it could do yet, but the description immediately appeared when he focused on the item.

[ Enhanced Strengthening Crystal ]

[ Description: A special crystal that can be used to strengthen eligible equipment or items. The success rate and effects depend on the quality of the target item. ]

’Interesting.’

Traceless immediately became more interested.

He didn’t have many items that could apparently be strengthened, but he would definitely find a use for it eventually.

Finally, there was the Silverwind Cloak.

[ Silverwind Cloak ]

[ Type: Rare Equipment ]

[ Description: A lightweight cloak created from the fur of a Silverwind Beast. Increases movement speed by 5% and reduces the sound produced by the wearer’s movements. ]

Traceless couldn’t help but smile.

’This is actually quite useful.’

The effect wasn’t overwhelmingly powerful, but it suited his fighting style. Increased movement speed was always valuable, while reducing the sound of his movements could help him when moving around quietly.

It could potentially complement his stealth abilities as well.

’Not bad at all.’

Traceless kept the items in his inventory aside from the cloak and looked around Leonine Town.

The city was clearly different from Reverie Town.

Even after arriving through the main gate, he could already see countless adventurers moving through the streets.

Indeed, this was no longer a beginner town.

He could guess that there were more players around, and many of them were wearing equipment that was obviously better than the novice sets he had seen back in the Beginner Town.

The shops were also much larger, while the buildings were constructed with more durable materials.

This place truly felt like a settlement meant for adventurers who were already beginning to leave the safety of the starting areas.

’So this is Leonine Town.’

Traceless looked around with interest.

Katrina had mentioned that this place would have more opportunities, and after seeing the city for himself, he understood what she meant.

If he wanted to obtain better missions and stronger rewards, this was probably the right place to start.

With that thought in mind, Traceless immediately headed toward the Adventurers’ Guild.

***

The Adventurers’ Guild of Leonine Town was considerably larger than the one in the beginner Town.

The moment Traceless entered, he saw dozens of adventurers gathering around the mission board. Some were discussing their next expedition, while others were returning from missions and exchanging their rewards.

There were also several reception counters where adventurers could register missions and submit their completed requests.

Traceless immediately walked toward the mission board.

He wasn’t particularly interested in simple gathering missions anymore.

After all, his current strength was already considerably higher than that of an ordinary beginner player.

He wanted missions that would provide better rewards.

More importantly, he wanted to find missions that could give him something that he couldn’t easily obtain through ordinary hunting.

As he scanned the mission board, Traceless’s eyes suddenly stopped.

’What is this?’

One of the missions had a reward that immediately caught his attention.

[ Mission: Noble Child’s Sparring Partner ]

[ Mission Description: A noble family is currently seeking a capable adventurer to serve as a sparring partner for their young heir. The selected adventurer must be capable of fighting against the young noble without causing serious injury while providing appropriate combat pressure and guidance. ]

[ Duration: 5 Days ]

[ Requirement: Minimum Level 8 ]

[ Daily Requirement: 4 Hours of Sparring ]

[ Reward: 1 Skill Point, 800 Experience Points, 30 Credits ]

Traceless stared at the reward.

’Huh? One Skill Point? That’s possible?’

His expression immediately changed.

He had only recently discovered that Skill Points could be obtained through leveling up, and they were incredibly valuable because they could directly improve his Gene Skills.

However, this mission was offering an entire Skill Point as a reward.

Naturally, he was interested.

’And I only need to spar for four hours a day?’

Traceless wasn’t worried about the difficulty either.

He had already fought against Level 20+ Horned Ironhide Beasts and survived battles against rogue adventurers.

Sparring against a noble child for four hours a day was unlikely to be difficult.

At worst, he would have to restrain himself.

’This should be easy.’

He immediately accepted the mission.

[ Mission Accepted! ]

[ You have accepted the mission: Noble Young Master’s Sparring Partner. ]

Traceless nodded.

’As expected.’

He wasn’t concerned about the restrictions.

In fact, he was rather interested in seeing how strong the noble child was.

’If he’s talented, this could actually be interesting.’

However, just as he was about to search for another mission, something else caught his attention.

It was another mission with a Skill Point as part of its reward.

Traceless’s eyes immediately narrowed.

’Another one?’

He quickly opened the mission details.

[ Mission: Poison Resistance Tester ]

"Eh?" Traceless paused for a moment as it felt a bit too difficult. Still, he considered it carefully.

[ Mission Description: A researcher requires a resilient adventurer to participate in a series of controlled poison resistance tests. The participant will be administered several different poisons over the duration of the mission while medical personnel monitor the subject’s condition. ]

[ Duration: 7 Days ]

[ Minimum Requirement: Level 8 ]

[ Required Tests: At least 3 Poison Tests ]

[ Reward: 1 Skill Point, 1,200 Experience Points, 50 Credits ]

Traceless stared at the mission.

’Poison tester?’

The mission immediately sounded difficult. Even if the description specifically stated that the poisons were being administered under controlled conditions, there was still a reason why they needed an adventurer to test them.

Poisons were not something that could be taken lightly.

However, Traceless soon began thinking about his own abilities.

He had Bio-Adaptive Constitution, Great Protection, Blood Regeneration, and he also possessed the Guardian title.

All of these abilities provided him with considerably greater survivability than an ordinary player.

With so many Gene Enhancements, his body was more resistant to harmful effects, his regeneration was stronger, and his overall resilience was already considerably higher than what his Level 9 status would normally suggest.

’If I had to choose someone to test poison, I would probably choose myself.’

Traceless couldn’t help but smile.

Of course, he wasn’t foolish enough to assume that he was completely immune to poison.

His abilities had limits.

There were also different types of poison, and some might be specifically designed to bypass certain forms of resistance.

However, the mission description clearly stated that the poisons were controlled and that antidotes would be provided.

There was still a risk, but the mission was obviously designed to be survivable.

At least, that was what Traceless assumed...

"Fine... For the skill point!"
