Global Awakening: Infinite Gift Pack System
Chapter 354: Claire and the CodebreakersThe elders of the Cancer Faction eventually decided that there was no point in continuing their investigation from a distance.
If they couldn't discover where Kai's Shop was obtaining its endless supply of products, then they would simply have to capture Kai himself and force him to reveal the truth.
"How many people should we send?"
One of the elders asked.
"Five should be enough."
Another elder replied after a moment of consideration.
"Everyone must be at least Level 60."
Temet, who was standing nearby, immediately understood their reasoning. There was no need to mobilize a large force against someone who had yet to reach Level 40, especially when the Cancer Faction had several Level 60 survivors who could easily handle someone of Kai's supposed strength.
As for Level 70 survivors, the elders weren't willing to mobilize them for such a simple operation, while the handful of Level 80 experts within the faction were even more precious. Moving someone of that level required considerable resources, and there was simply no reason to use one of their strongest combatants to deal with a person who was believed to be below Level 40.
"Once the opportunity appears, capture him and bring him back."
One of the elders finally ordered.
However, Temet's expression became slightly strange.
"There is one problem."
The elders looked at him.
"Kai doesn't leave the shop."
"What do you mean?"
"Exactly what I said. We've been observing him for some time now, and he has never left the building."
Temet had already investigated the matter thoroughly, but the result remained the same. Kai would occasionally leave his quarters and enter the shop, where he would act as the cashier for a while before returning to his room. Aside from that, he never went anywhere.
He didn't visit another faction, or meet any merchants. As a matter of fact, he didn't leave the city.
As far as Temet could tell, Kai simply remained inside the shop every day.
The elders exchanged confused looks.
"Are you saying that he has been staying there this entire time?"
"Yes."
"Then how is he obtaining the supplies?"
"We still don't know."
The answer caused the room to fall silent.
That was precisely what made Kai's Shop so strange. No matter how long they watched, they couldn't find anyone delivering the products, yet the supplies continued to appear. Even when the Cancer Faction deliberately purchased large quantities of merchandise, the shop would eventually restock again.
There could be delays, but the supply never completely stopped.
Temet had begun to suspect that Kai might have realized he was being watched.
Perhaps that was why he refused to leave.
One of the elders slowly narrowed his eyes.
"Then perhaps he knows."
Temet's expression changed.
"You mean he knows we're watching him?"
"It's possible."
The elder leaned back in his chair.
"Regardless, it doesn't matter. If he refuses to leave, then we'll simply wait."
The elders had already made their decision.
The moment Kai finally left the protection of the Aries Faction, they would make their move.
"Keep watching him," one of them ordered. "If he gets involved in the next raid, then we'll use our chance."
Temet nodded.
The next raid would take place outside the city.
And unlike Kai's Shop, the battlefield would not be under the protection of the Aries Faction.
That was where they would finally have their opportunity.
Meanwhile, completely unaware of their plans, or perhaps knowing far more than they realized, Kai continued staying inside his room.
He had no reason to leave.
After all, he was currently having far too much fun playing Perfect World.

Codebreakers Shelter.
Claire tightened the straps of her advanced camouflage gear before stepping out of the shelter.
The equipment covered her whole body, allowing her to blend into the surrounding environment whenever necessary, while the various weapons attached to her gear made it clear that she wasn't simply going outside for a casual walk. She had already checked everything twice before leaving, but she still took one final look at the weapons secured around her waist.
After all, they were heading into an abandoned shelter.
Nobody knew what they would find there or what had happened to the people who had once lived there either.
"Are you ready?"
Claire turned around.
Ralph was standing a few meters behind her, wearing his own combat equipment while carrying a rifle…
"I've been ready for five minutes."
Ralph smiled.
"Then you should have said something."
"I did."
"You said, 'Wait a moment.'"
"That was five minutes ago."
Ralph couldn't argue with that.
Claire shook her head before looking at the third member of their group.
Amer was standing slightly behind them.
Compared to Claire and Ralph, he looked almost out of place.
He had never been considered a powerful survivor before.
In fact, until recently, Amer had been little more than an ordinary young man in his twenties who helped with various chores around the shelter. He had spent much of his time assisting in the kitchen, carrying supplies, preparing meals, and doing whatever other work was necessary.
Nobody had expected him to suddenly become a combatant.
Still, the Codebreakers Shelter had obtained a Status Crystal that could be used to check the progress of local survivors.
Amer had been one of the first people to use it.
The result had surprised everyone.
[ Name: Amer ]
[ Title: None ]
[ Level: 15 ]
[ Health: 345 / 345 ]
[ Spirit: 191 / 191 ]
[ Physique Rating: D ]
[ Active Skills: Silent Dash Lv3 ]
[ Passive Skills: Spirit Sense Lv2, Dexterity Flow Lv2 ]
Amer had initially been shocked by his own status.
Claire had been even more surprised.
The young man who had previously spent most of his days working in the kitchen had actually awakened abilities that were extremely suitable for combat.
His Silent Dash allowed him to channel Spirit Energy into his legs and suddenly move up to five meters, ignoring terrain obstacles in the process. His Spirit Sense allowed him to detect subtle movements and potential threats, while Dexterity Flow improved his coordination and agility.
Amer wasn't particularly strong yet, but he had the potential to become much stronger.
"Don't worry so much."
Amer suddenly spoke.
Claire looked at him.
"I'm not worried."
"You've been looking at me for some time…"
"Because you're making me nervous."
Claire sighed.
"You're going to an abandoned shelter for the first time, and you're smiling like you're going on a picnic."
"I've never been outside with people this strong before."
Amer looked toward Ralph.
Then he looked at Claire.
"Besides, I want to see what it's like."
Ralph chuckled.
"Just remember that the things outside don't care how excited you are."
Amer's smile disappeared slightly.
"I'll remember that."
Claire glanced toward the massive gates of Codebreakers Shelter.
The shelter was already far more secure than it had been when they first established it, and thanks to Kai's resources, they had access to equipment that most survivors could only dream of possessing.
Food wasn't a major concern anymore and weapons weren't as difficult to obtain.
Even medical supplies and other necessities were available in reasonable quantities.
However, Kai's Infinite Gift Packs couldn't provide everything.
There were still resources they needed that simply didn't appear often enough.
Certain construction materials were difficult to acquire. Specialized machinery was almost impossible to find. Some types of electronic equipment, replacement parts, and industrial supplies were equally valuable.
That was why they were here.
According to the information they had gathered, the shelter had been abandoned for several months.
Nobody knew why.
There were rumors that the people living there had been forced to evacuate after a powerful A.I. units appeared nearby.
Others believed that the shelter had been attacked.
Whatever the truth was, the place had remained untouched for a long time.
That made it worth investigating.
"Let's go."
Claire finally stepped forward.
The three of them left the shelter together.
The moment they passed through the gates, Amer's expression became noticeably more serious.
He immediately activated Spirit Sense.
"What do you sense?"
"Nothing."
Amer frowned.
"That's the problem."
Ralph immediately raised his rifle while Claire's eyes narrowed.
Ralph's Sharpshooter Focus Talent was already active.
His perception had become far more precise than that of an ordinary survivor, allowing him to notice details that most people would completely overlook.
A moment later, something moved behind one of the broken windows.
Amer instinctively activated Silent Dash.
Claire immediately grabbed his shoulder.
"Don't."
Amer froze.
"Why?"
"Because you don't know what you're looking at."
Claire slowly pulled out one of her weapons.
Ralph adjusted his position.
A few seconds passed… then something suddenly jumped from the building.
Amer nearly activated Silent Dash again, but Claire stopped him.
The creature landed heavily on the street.
It was a mutated dog.
Ralph fired immediately.
The shot struck its head and the mutated creature collapsed before it could even react.
Amer stared at the corpse.
"That's it?"
Claire glanced at him.
"Did you expect something stronger?"
"No."
Amer looked disappointed.
"I thought it would be more exciting."
Claire immediately regretted bringing him.
