Global Descent: I Alone Can See Hidden Evolution Paths
Chapter 144: morning workoutThe tranquil hum of the alpine valley cultivation grid was shattered by a sound that defied the laws of space-time—a deafening tearing noise, like canvas ripping across the sky.
High above the crystal-clear alpine lake, the atmosphere violently fractured. A swirling vortex of jagged silver lightning and burning azure flames ripped open, displacing the peaceful clouds. From the tear, three figures descended, wrapped in glowing halos of supreme, arrogant divinity.
They were not the mindless enforcers of the Architects, nor were they void-fiends. These were Successors—rival champions chosen by other surviving ancient gods across the cosmos to inherit the remnants of a dying pantheon, driven by fierce pride and desperate ambition.
The leader of the trio was a tall, striking man with piercing silver eyes, clad in iridescent star-metal armor that hummed with crackling plasma. Flanking him were two heavily augmented warrior-gods, their bodies wreathed in roaring gales of elemental kinetic energy.
The silver-eyed successor landed heavily on the grassy hill just fifty yards from the cabin, his boots cratering the pristine soil. He crossed his arms, looking around the peaceful valley with a sneer of utter disdain before fixing his gaze directly on Min-jae, who had stepped off the porch to meet them.
"So, this is the legendary sanctuary," the silver-eyed successor mocked, his voice echoing across the mountains with booming, self-important authority. "The entire outer cosmos won’t stop whispering your name, Min-jae. They call you the ’True God’, the anomaly who bypassed the Creator’s blueprint."
Min-jae remained entirely calm, his golden eyes narrowing slightly as he slipped his hands into his pockets. "And you are?"
"I am Kaelen, champion of the celestial forge, and rightful heir to the High-Sun Pantheon," the challenger declared, stepping forward with an aggressive swagger. "I’ve traveled across three galaxies just to test this so-called supremacy. Let’s see if you’re actually worthy of the title, or if you’re just another overhyped god sitting in a cabin playing house."
Before Min-jae could even reply, a flash of red and white light signaled the arrival of Azshara and Lin Miao, who materialized smoothly on either side of Min-jae, their hands resting casually on the hilts of their weapons, their eyes cold and lethal.
"You walked into the wrong valley, loudmouth," Azshara’s voice dripped with icy, murderous amusement. "If you wanted to commit suicide, you could have done it in your own galaxy."
Kaelen’s two flanking warriors stepped forward, drawing massive, humming energy-blades. "We’ll deal with his consorts first! Show them what happens when mortals try to play with gods!"
"Consorts?" Yoo Ji-a’s voice rang out sharply from the edge of the pine forest as she and Liu Xiao stepped into view, followed closely by the rest of the queens, who had closed their cultivation grid the moment the spatial rift tore open. Ji-a summoned her shadow-spear with a wicked grin. "Oh, this is going to be hilarious."
"Enough talking," Kaelen sneered, drawing a broadsword forged from compressed solar plasma. "Let’s settle this in the dirt!"
With an earth-shattering roar, Kaelen lunged directly at Min-jae, his blade blazing with a blinding white-hot heat that vaporized the grass in his wake.
Min-jae didn’t flinch. He didn’t even draw his ancient sword. Instead, he raised his bare right hand, channeling the condensed divine prana of his entire twelve-wife cultivation grid.
When Kaelen’s solar blade struck Min-jae’s palm, the kinetic shockwave flattened the nearby trees and created a massive crater beneath their feet. Kaelen’s eyes widened in sheer, unadulterated shock as he realized his god-tier weapon couldn’t scratch Min-jae’s skin.
"My turn," Min-jae whispered, his voice dropping into a dark, rumbling authority.
He clenched his fist, unleashing a localized gravity-crush. Kaelen was sent hurtling backward through three stone boulders before crashing heavily into the hillside.
Meanwhile, the battlefield erupted into a chaotic, high-intensity brawl.
The two flanking warrior-gods charged at Azshara and Miao, unleashing devastating gales of plasma and wind. But they severely underestimated their opponents. Azshara parried the first warrior’s blade with her obsidian sword, unleashing a point-blank wave of crimson Abyssal fire that melted his armor into slag. Simultaneously, Lin Miao flickered through the air like a phantom, her starlight daggers finding the gaps in the second warrior’s defenses with surgical, breathtaking speed, sending him crashing to the dirt in a heap of groaning defeat.
"Is that really all the other gods could produce?" Liu Xiao laughed musically, her emerald forcefields effortlessly blocking a desperate energy blast from Kaelen’s allies.
"My goodness, the pantheon’s standards have plummeted."
Kaelen scrambled back to his feet, panting heavily, blood trickling from his lip. His silver armor was dented, his pride utterly shattered. He looked around in absolute disbelief as his elite warriors were pinned to the ground by Medusa’s toxic shadow-chains and Major General Ye-rin’s energy blade pressed against his throat.
Min-jae walked slowly toward Kaelen, the golden light radiating from his eyes casting a long, intimidating shadow over the defeated successor.
Kaelen dropped to one knee, lowering his head, his voice trembling with a mix of exhaustion and profound awe. "I... I concede. The rumors didn’t do you justice. You aren’t just a successor... you are a completely different tier of existence."
Min-jae stopped a few feet away, looking down at the defeated challenger. The aggressive, arrogant aura Kaelen had walked in with was entirely gone, replaced by the stark realization of the power gap between them.
Min-jae extended a hand, offering it to the fallen warrior-god.
Kaelen blinked in surprise, staring at the outstretched hand for a moment before taking it. Min-jae pulled him effortlessly back to his feet.
"You’ve got raw power, Kaelen," Min-jae said, his tone turning surprisingly amicable. "And your technique has solid foundations. But you’re fighting for your own ego, trying to prove a title. We’re fighting for a family, and for the survival of reality itself."
Kaelen wiped the sweat and dust from his brow, offering a humble, respectful nod. "The destroyer is waking up, isn’t he? That’s why you’re cultivating out here in total synchronization."
"He wakes in a hundred years," Azshara stated coldly, walking up to stand beside Min-jae, her crimson eyes still sharp. "And if you want a chance at surviving him, you can either keep picking fights with true gods, or you can learn from them."
Kaelen looked around at the twelve powerful, breathtaking queens who stood united behind Min-jae, their auras humming with a synchronized perfection that made his own divine core tremble. He let out a breathless, defeated laugh.
"I came here to challenge a rival," Kaelen admitted, shaking his head. "Instead, I found out how far behind I really am. If you’ll have me... I’d rather join hands than bleed out in your yard."
"We can use all the allies we can get before the seal breaks," Min-jae smiled, clapping a heavy hand on Kaelen’s shoulder. "Go back to your sphere, train your core, and tell the other surviving gods to sharpen their skills. When the time comes, we march together."
With a respectful bow, Kaelen and his recovered warriors opened a spatial rift, stepping back through to their own domain, leaving the valley in a sudden, profound silence.
Min-jae turned around, looking at his wives, who were already settling back into their relaxed, powerful postures.
"Well, that was a fun morning workout," Yoo Ji-a smirked, leaning her shadow-spear against her shoulder. "Shall we get back to the grid?"
"Let’s," Min-jae agreed, walking back to the porch of the Earth-style cabin.
He resumed his lotus position, closing his eyes as he reconnected his consciousness to the sprawling alpine cultivation grid. The rivers of violet, crimson, silver, and gold energy surged back into motion, weaving through the mountains in perfect harmony.
