Chapter 320: Chapter 10: As Expected, It’s You

Seeing that Lin Yu had agreed to the trade, the Lizard-man opened the door and stepped out first.

Lin Yu followed him out. Before he left, he glanced toward the corner of the room, signaling for Li Xintong to stay put and wait for him. He then closed the door and went after the Lizard-man.

After the two had gone some distance, the door to the room opened once more, then clicked shut...

Lin Yu followed the Lizard-man into another passageway. At the far end stood several guards.

"How is he?"

"Sir, the target is still inside. He attacks the vault door every now and then, but there’s no way he can break through. It was built to hold a third-rank magical beast."

"Good. You’re dismissed."

"Yes, sir!"

Once the guards had left, the Lizard-man turned to Lin Yu. "Alright, this is where the human is being held. Give me the Cultivation Manual and the Spirit Fruits, and I’ll give you the tech and the key."

"Not so fast. First, let me confirm if the person locked up is the one I’m looking for. If there’s been a mistake, I have no intention of releasing a wanted criminal."

The Lizard-man nodded and walked over to a control panel. After a few taps, the door turned transparent. Peering inside, they could see a figure sitting cross-legged on the floor.

"Brother!"

’Hm? Where did that woman’s voice come from?’

’Am I hearing things?’

"Bullshit! No way!" The Lizard-man heard the familiar female voice again and jumped up in a rage. His entire body flushed red as he prepared to unleash a wave of fire.

"That’s enough. Here. Now give me your tech and the key." Lin Yu quickly interrupted his casting, pulling the jade slip for the Star Technique and a hundred ordinary Spirit Fruits from his personal storage space.

Upon seeing the coveted Cultivation Manual—one that could be used in the Lord’s Tournament—the Lizard-man immediately suppressed his fiery outburst. He pulled a USB drive from his pocket (it seemed he had prepared it in advance) and took a key from a drawer in the control panel.

The two cautiously exchanged items. Fortunately, both parties were trading in good faith, and no one tried to pull any tricks.

Then, the Lizard-man walked straight out of the passageway.

’The human in there is pretty strong. I was barely suppressing him in a fight. Add Lin Yu to the mix, who can casually tank my innate skills, and I don’t stand a chance. To avoid getting attacked the second he’s freed, I’d better make myself scarce.’

Once the Lizard-man was gone, Lin Yu opened the vault door.

SWISH—

A flash of sword light shot toward his face. Lin Yu, already prepared, summoned an earth shield in front of him.

CRACK~

A gash was split open in the earth shield, revealing steel vines within.

"Hey, Li Hua! What’s with the temper?"

"You? What are you doing here?" Li Hua glanced at the pristine corridor, which showed no signs of a struggle, and his anger flared. "Are you in league with that Lizard-man?"

"Hm?"

Lin Yu was completely bewildered. Before he could answer, Li Hua swung his sword again, sending countless streams of Sword Qi flying toward him.

With no time to explain, Lin Yu summoned a Grass Sword. His body blurred into an afterimage, weaving through the flashes of light to evade the Sword Qi. Any he couldn’t dodge, he parried with his own blade.

Then, seizing an opening, he lunged toward Li Hua and slashed at his arm.

Li Hua met the attack with his own sword, and the two clashed in close-quarters combat.

Sword light flared in all directions as the two figures flickered in and out of sight.

Lin Yu, getting into the thrill of the fight, shouted, "Try my Vortex Sword!"

A whirlwind coiled around his Grass Sword. Whenever their blades clashed, the force would throw Li Hua’s sword off balance, forcing him to divert some of his focus to steadying his stance.

At the same time, with every swing of Lin Yu’s Grass Sword, a series of Wind Blades shot from its tip toward Li Hua. One grazed his cheek, drawing beads of blood.

Seeing he was at a disadvantage, Li Hua drew another sharp sword from his waist. Now holding a blade in each hand, he executed his Dual Swordsmanship.

He used one sword to match Lin Yu’s moves and the other to block the Wind Blades. In the brief moments he could spare, he even launched a few waves of Sword Qi back at Lin Yu, catching him off guard and inflicting minor wounds.

...

Just as their fierce battle reached its peak, a small girl’s figure appeared in the doorway.

Li Xintong looked anxiously at the two combatants and yelled, "Stop it! Stop fighting, you two!"

The two fighters didn’t stop, however. It was unclear if they were too engrossed in their battle to hear her shouts.

Li Xintong tried picking up a stone and throwing it into the room, but before it even got close to them, it was pulverized by the ricocheting Sword Qi and Wind Blades.

It was hard to tell what the vault holding Li Hua was made of. The uncontrolled Sword Qi and Wind Blades from their intense duel only managed to leave white scratches on the walls. No wonder Li Hua couldn’t break out on his own.

CLICK—

A sharp sound reached their ears, and they both instantly stopped fighting, turning toward its source.

"Little sister, stop playing around! Open the door!"

"Yeah, Xintong, open the door! Your brother and I were just sparring for fun! It’s not every day I find an opponent this evenly matched. My hands were just itching for a fight!"

As it turned out, when Li Xintong saw that neither of them was paying her any mind, she had locked the vault door again in a fit of anger.

More than ten minutes later, Lin Yu and Li Hua were sitting outside the vault door, tending to their wounds and torn clothes.

"Honestly, you two," Li Xintong chided, "could you be any more trouble? You had me thinking you were actually trying to kill each other!"

The two, clearly in the wrong, could only laugh awkwardly to hide their embarrassment.

In fairness, Li Hua’s initial attack on Lin Yu was likely due to his long confinement, which had left him mentally unbalanced.
