Global Lords: My Territory Heart Is a World Tree
Chapter 333 - 14: Carnival (2)Chapter 333: Chapter 14: Carnival (2)
The police officers hurriedly adjusted their goggles, zooming in to get a better look.
Lin Yu cast the Eagle Eye Technique on himself and his companions, and they too looked over.
Next to the explosion on the horizon were a few black dots. Upon zooming in, everyone realized they were the hovercars from the Emergency Affairs Department that had departed earlier.
"What’s going on? Did they malfunction?"
"I don’t know. I doubt it. The Legion’s equipment can’t be that shoddy, can it?"
...
Then, a new point of fiery light appeared in their field of vision, rapidly approaching.
"Holy crap!!! An anti-aircraft missile?!"
When they got a clear look at what was causing the fiery light, everyone gasped. Who would dare fire a missile at a Legion squad on the outskirts of the city? They had some serious nerve.
Several beams shot out from the Emergency Affairs Department’s hovercars, striking the missile and causing it to explode.
The sound of a massive explosion reached them, and only then did everyone realize that the first explosion hadn’t been a hovercar, but a missile attacking it.
The stunned crowd then watched a spectacular battle unfold between the multi-functional armed hovercars and anti-aircraft missiles.
After that, several more unidentified armed hovercars appeared and attacked the Emergency Affairs Department’s vehicles, but they were all swiftly shot down.
In the end, the multi-functional armed hovercars, completely unscathed, continued toward the horizon until they vanished from sight.
...
After watching such a spectacle, the barrier between Lin Yu’s group and the police officers instantly vanished. They started discussing animatedly, like old friends, speculating on who could have been so bold.
Some guessed it was the Hass Clan, since members of their family were being transported in those vehicles.
But more people guessed that some anti-human organization from another planet had come to Cuiwei Star to announce its presence, only to hit a brick wall.
Only the young police officer standing to the side was pale-faced and sweating bullets. This had all happened shortly after he’d sent his message. He wouldn’t believe it for a second if someone claimed the Hass Clan wasn’t involved. ’Now that the Hass Clan has suffered heavy losses with nothing to show for it, will they come after me? Will I be buried alive? What will happen to my family?’
The more he thought about it, the more terrified he became. Trembling, he slipped away while no one was looking, got into a police car, and sped home.
...
「Hass Manor.」
Opal Hass received a message from the former butler’s assistant.
’They all failed?’
’Sigh... The Legion really is on another level. As I thought, a clan like ours is no match for them. Even a squad from one of its subordinate departments is this powerful!’
’How did I get so carried away just now? Daring to target them... I must have been out of my mind!’
"By the way, were all the loose ends tied up?"
Opal Hass rubbed his aching temples. ’It seems I got too worked up over Vincent. Why would Vincent betray me? We always had such a pleasant partnership!’
Opal Hass just couldn’t wrap his head around it. Why would Vincent defy his orders, even going so far as to capture the men he’d sent and hand them over to the Legion? ’All I did was tell the squad to teach him a lesson and grab Li Hua. What’s the big deal?’
"Young Master, it was a clean job. The personnel and equipment used in the attack had no markings linking them to our clan!"
The new butler answered respectfully.
"Good. That’s good."
"Now, send someone to deal with Li Hua! As long as I can get my hands on Li Hua’s cultivation method and turn my territory into an Extraordinary Territory, my status in the clan will be secure. This little failure won’t matter."
"Yes! I will see to it at once. Should we also take care of the police officers who were with Li Hua?"
"Yes, right..." His voice trailed off.
Before Opal Hass could finish, his eyes went vacant.
The Eye Demon attached to his left hand was currently pouring all its power into invading his brain, trying to seize complete control. ’If I let this Opal Hass keep screwing around,’ it thought, ’I’ll be discovered by the Human Race’s authorities before I can even get started on my grand plans. I didn’t come all this way to a Human Race planet just for that!’
Opal Hass stopped mid-sentence. The butler assumed he was still thinking, so he waited quietly. But after several minutes passed with no further word, the butler looked up and glanced at him.
He found Opal Hass staring blankly into space. He couldn’t help but call out cautiously, "Young Master?"
"Young Master?"
"Young Master? Snap out of it!"
"Someone, get in here!"
Seeing that something was very wrong with Opal Hass, the butler shouted loudly.
"Wait, what are you doing? I was just thinking!"
Opal Hass’s eyes moved, and he seemed to recover, though his gaze was now oddly placid.
"Bring me the police officer who tipped us off. I have some questions for him."
"Yes! And what about Li Hua?"
"Forget it. Let him run free for a few more days. I have more important things to attend to right now."
"As you command!"
...
The young police officer was speeding toward his home in the city when his communicator automatically answered a call. "Hello! Is this Mr. Le Zi?"
"This is he," Le Zi answered, glancing at his communicator in surprise. His police training helped him quickly regain his composure, and he began thinking about his next move even as he replied.
"This is Kong Yixiu from the Hass Clan. You’re the one who sent the message earlier, correct?"
"No, it wasn’t me!" Le Zi broke out in a cold sweat.
"Don’t be so quick to deny it. We can confirm that the message came from you. Our Young Master has some questions for you in person. You need to come see us. I’m sending you the navigation coordinates now."
