Le Zi brought the police car to a screeching halt. He sat stunned in his seat, his expression shifting like a kaleidoscope. At last, he let out a sigh, turned the car around, and headed for the address that had been sent to his communicator.

"Young Master, the officer has arrived."

"Bring him in."

Kong Yixiu led Le Zi into Opal Hass’s office, after which Opal Hass waved his hand, dismissing Kong Yixiu.

"So, you’re the one who tipped us off?"

"Yes!" Le Zi admitted, gritting his teeth and bracing himself.

"Do you have any idea what kind of losses you’ve caused me?"

"N-no... I don’t!"

"True. A small-time cop like you wouldn’t know. Originally, I was planning on getting rid of you and your entire family."

"No, you can’t do that!" Le Zi’s eyes flew wide as he stared at Opal Hass. He clenched his jaw and balled his fists, veins bulging on his temples.

"Well, well. It seems you care a great deal about your family!"

Marcus watched Le Zi with great interest. As an Eye Demon, he had no concept of familial affection. Seeing Le Zi in this state, he couldn’t help but feel a flicker of desire to explore it.

Marcus explained, "That’s right, it’s a Symbiote. After it bonds with you, you’ll become an Extraordinary Being. Since you’re just an ordinary person, you’ll only become a Tier-1 Extraordinary, but that’s still pretty good, isn’t it?"

Le Zi felt a tickle in his throat and broke into a fit of coughing.

Marcus kept reassuring him. Le Zi’s coughing grew fainter and fainter until it finally stopped. He stood rigidly in place, unmoving, his eyes growing vacant.

Once Le Zi’s expression returned to normal, Marcus retrieved several jars filled with the black spheres and handed them to him.

"Go back and distribute these. Remember, don’t let them attach directly to the back. Use the covert infestation mode."

"Yes!" Le Zi nodded. He took the jars, his movements somewhat stiff, but they quickly grew fluid as he turned and walked out.
