Global PvP Tower: I Can Infinitely Merge My Units
Chapter 3: Talent IdentifiedThey pushed deeper into the trees, past the ring of stumps the Minions had already cleared.
The light dimmed the further they went. The air grew colder, and the birdsong that had followed them earlier went quiet.
"Feels different out here," the Sling Shooter said, voice low. "Quiet the wrong way."
Logan didn’t answer, but he agreed. He kept his grip steady on the branch-sword and let his eyes move across the tree line instead of his mouth move at all.
A low growl rolled out from somewhere ahead. It was deep enough that Logan felt it in his chest before he actually heard it.
```
[ Level 4 Snapfang Wolf (Tier-1 / Normal) ]
```
It stepped out from behind a thick trunk. Its fur was gray and matted, stretched tight over lean muscle built for speed. Its jaw hung slightly open, and rows of long curved teeth caught what little light made it through the leaves.
The wolf’s eyes locked onto Logan and didn’t blink.
"That’s not a rabbit," the Sling Shooter muttered.
It wasn’t. Logan could feel it in the way the wolf held itself, low and coiled, like it already knew how this fight was going to go.
It moved before Logan could plan anything.
The wolf crossed the distance in less than two seconds. It was faster than the rabbit, faster than anything Logan had ever trained against in his life.
He barely got the branch-sword up in time to catch the first bite.
Wood met teeth, and the wolf’s jaw clamped down hard enough that Logan felt the shock travel up both his arms.
He shoved back, and the wolf let go, but it didn’t retreat. It circled once and came at him again from the side, faster than before.
Logan swung and caught it across the shoulder. He heard the wood crack.
The wolf didn’t slow down. It hit him low, and claws raked across his side as he twisted away. The pain was sharp, but he’d already learned pain wasn’t the thing that stopped him.
He swung again. This time the branch-sword didn’t crack.
It broke.
The blade snapped clean off near the handle and spun away into the bushes, leaving Logan holding a useless stick.
He didn’t have time to feel bad about it.
The wolf came in again, lower this time, going for his legs. Logan threw the broken handle aside and did the only thing he had left. He dropped his weight and grabbed.
His arms wrapped around the wolf’s neck. His legs locked around its hind end, pinning down whatever he could reach.
The wolf thrashed. It was strong, far stronger than him, and faster too.
But Logan had spent five years learning how to stay balanced when something bigger tried to knock him off his feet. That training hadn’t gone to waste after all.
He held on.
Teeth found his forearm, and he felt them sink in deep. He didn’t let go. Claws tore across his back a second later, and he still didn’t let go.
Blood ran from his arm, his side, and a shoulder wound he didn’t even remember getting. He could feel it soaking through his shirt.
But he kept his weight low and his grip locked. He pinned the wolf’s head against the ground with everything he had left.
"Now!" Logan shouted through clenched teeth.
The Sling Shooter didn’t need to be told twice. He’d already loaded the sling, already tracking the one clean angle Logan had given him.
The stone left the sling and punched straight through the side of the wolf’s skull.
The wolf went still under him.
Logan stayed locked around it for another second, waiting to be sure. When it didn’t move again, he let go and rolled onto his back, chest heaving.
```
[ Level 4 Snapfang Wolf (Tier-1/Normal) killed. +125 Tower Points ]
[ +150 Exp. You have reached level 3. You can distribute 5 stat points. ]
```
Sling Shooter also reached level 4.
Logan lay there a moment, staring up through the leaves, before he pushed himself up onto one elbow.
Five stat points. He didn’t waste time thinking it over.
He put enough into Arcane to bring it to 5. He pushed Attack to six, Speed to 7. Whatever was left, he dropped straight into Constitution.
```
[ Status ]
```
He looked at the HP number and swallowed. Ninety-five out of five hundred twenty. That had been closer than he wanted to admit.
Then his vision flickered white for half a second, and something shifted behind his eyes.
```
[ Talent Identified ]
Boundless Genesis
Rank: X
Stage: 1st
Cost: 500
Effect 1:
> Merge two units to create an evolved version resulting from the merge.
```
Logan blinked. The three question marks that had followed his name since the trial chamber were finally gone.
"Boundless Genesis," he said out loud, testing the words.
He didn’t know what Rank X meant. He’d heard people talk about Normal, Rare, Epic, Legendary, and Mythic. He’d never once heard of a rank that came after all of those, or before them, or anywhere else in between.
He didn’t know if that made him lucky or marked for something worse.
’The cost is 500 MP. And this is stage one of the talent. Does that mean Boundless Genesis will have another effect at second stage?’ Logan wondered.
For now, none of it mattered. He couldn’t test a talent while he was bleeding out on the forest floor.
’Restore.’
The skill answered the way it always did, but the change this time was smaller. His forearm closed halfway, the bite mark shrinking into something that looked like it had happened weeks ago instead of minutes.
The claw marks on his back and side eased too, but they didn’t close all the way.
Restore had fixed his Minions completely. But they were made of clay, not flesh. Torn skin didn’t heal the same way stiff joints did.
```
HP: 340/520
```
Better. But not enough. It would have to do until he got back.
He looped an arm over the Sling Shooter’s shoulder and let himself be half carried through the trees, back toward the wall and the door he’d built with his own hands hours earlier.
The moment he stepped past the door, he felt it. A warmth spread out from somewhere near his chest, gentle and steady, nothing like the sharp pull of Restore.
The Territory Core’s Healing Area.
