Global PvP Tower: I Can Infinitely Merge My Units
Chapter 5: Billy Strong!, Hidden CatchBilly made quick work of the dead wolf, his blade-wheel spinning through fur and muscle like it was paper.
Logan packed the meat into the broad leaves he’d cut earlier, tying the bundle shut with a length of vine. It wasn’t much, but it would keep his family fed for a few days if he made it back.
’If.’ He pushed the thought away and kept walking.
They pressed on, deeper than either of their two earlier trips. The trees thinned in patches, and twice they crossed paths with lower level monsters that gave no experience, easy kills that barely slowed them down.
But their meat was appreciated.
Billy handled most of it alone now as Logan just used his Encouragement (Lv.1 | Common) skill to boost Billy’s Attack and Defence by 10% for a minute.
A curved blade from his new exotic sling or a flick of his spinning blade legs, and whatever they found stopped moving.
Logan let him. There was no reason to bleed for something Billy could kill from thirty feet away without breaking stride.
An hour in, the ground started climbing. Rock pushed up through the dirt in gray ridges, and the trees gave way to something closer to a hillside.
That was when they smelled the blood.
Billy’s spinning legs slowed to a quiet roll, and he raised a hand without needing to be told. Logan crouched low behind a ridge of stone and looked over it.
A cave mouth opened into the hillside below them, wide and dark. In front of it lay the carcass of something enormous, a bull-shaped creature with wide plates of leaf-green armor running down its back and flanks.
```
```
Three bears tore into the carcass, growling low at each other over the best cuts. Their fur was thick and gray.
Plates of pale crystal covered their shoulders, backs, and forearms, catching the light and throwing it back in sharp little flashes.
```
[ Crystal Plate Bear (Tier-1 / Rare) ]
```
"Those aren’t rabbits either," Billy muttered.
Logan almost laughed. He didn’t, though.
Two of the bears were already the size of a small car. The third, hunched over the bull’s ribs, was bigger still.
"Level?" Logan asked quietly.
Billy’s eyes narrowed slightly, reading something Logan couldn’t see. "Five. Five. And the big one’s six."
Logan thought it over fast. Rare-rank, level five and six, three of them at once.
Back when he had a wooden sword and a Normal-rank Sling Shooter, this fight would have ended with his name on Instructor Hale’s list of dead students.
But he didn’t have a wooden sword anymore. He had Billy.
"Take the two on the left first," Logan said. "I’ve got your back."
Billy grinned, the same easy grin the Sling Shooter used to wear. "Was hoping you’d say that."
Logan raised a hand toward him.
’Encouragement.’
```
[ Encouragement used on Billy ]
-50 MP
Attack +10% | Defense +10% for 60 seconds
```
A faint gold light wrapped around Billy for a second, then sank into him and vanished.
"Feels like someone cranked me up a notch," Billy said, rolling his shoulders. Then he was gone.
He crossed the open ground in under two seconds, faster than any of the bears had time to react to. Wheel Dash carried him low and flat across the dirt, blades spinning so fast they blurred into a silver ring.
Blade Barrage caught the first bear across the throat before it even finished turning its head.
It didn’t get a chance to roar. It dropped where it stood, crystal plates cracking against the stone.
The second bear swung a paw the size of a dinner table as it expanded magically. Billy rolled under it without slowing down, using the momentum to spin up the bear’s own arm and drive a blade through the joint of its shoulder.
The bear screamed and staggered back, one arm hanging useless.
Billy didn’t chase it. He planted his wheel-legs, drew back his sling in one smooth motion, and let a spinning blade fly from his unique slinger.
"Sky Pierce Shot."
The spinning blade punched clean through the wounded bear’s skull before it hit the ground.
```
[ Level 5 Crystal Plate Bear (Tier-1/Rare) killed. +200 Tower Points ]
[ Level 5 Crystal Plate Bear (Tier-1/Rare) killed. +200 Tower Points ]
```
That left the big one.
It had abandoned the bull’s carcass and was already charging. Crystal plates ground against each other with every stride, chips flaking off and catching the light like falling glass.
Billy didn’t retreat. He spun in place, blades screaming as they picked up speed, and let the bear come to him.
"Serrated Rampage."
He shot forward to meet the charge head on, spinning body first, and cut straight through the bear’s guard like it wasn’t there.
Six blades tore into crystal plate and kept going. They carved a wide circle through fur, armor, and flesh in one continuous motion.
The bear’s charge fell apart halfway through. It crashed into the dirt in pieces, crystal shards scattering across the cave mouth like broken glass.
Billy rolled to a stop, blades slowing to an idle hum, and looked back at Logan with a grin that said the fight had barely been worth warming up for.
```
[ Level 6 Crystal Plate Bear (Tier-1/Rare) killed. +250 Tower Points ]
[ +900 Exp. You have reached level 5. You can distribute 10 stat points. ]
```
Logan jumped from level 3 to level 5!
Billy reached level 6 in the same moment.
Logan stared at the notification, then let out a breath he’d been holding since the fight started. He hadn’t swung a single hit. He hadn’t needed to.
’Billy is darn strong!’
Another panel opened before he could process the first one.
```
[ Level 5 Milestone Reached ]
[ The beginner boost is over. Experience gained will return to normal. ]
[ Your class can now earn experience and level up alongside your player level, but class levels require more experience for levelling.]
[ Every five player levels, you gain a new class skill. ]
[ Each class level grants one skill point to upgrade your skills. ]
[ Skills gain a new effect at level 10, 20, 30, and every ten levels after that. ]
```
Logan read it twice, slower the second time.
So the easy part was over. Whatever boost had been carrying him through his first few kills was gone now, and from here on, every level would cost more than the last.
He didn’t have long to sit with that thought before the next panel opened.
```
[ New Class Skill Acquired ]
[Safe Haven (Uncommon | Lv. 1)]
>Deploy a 10-meter radius barrier. Durability equals 2x the MP spent.
>Blocks attacks from outside, and stops anyone outside from seeing in.
```
A barrier. Logan turned the idea over in his head. A hiding spot, a safe room, a wall no one could see through from the outside.
For a Caretaker with no offense of his own, that sounded like exactly the kind of thing worth having.
Billy could handle the front line now. Logan didn’t need Attack or Speed as much as he needed Arcane and Constitution, fuel for his skills and enough toughness to survive if something ever got past Billy.
He put five points into Arcane and five into Constitution, and left the rest alone.
```
Good enough. There would be time to study Safe Haven properly later.
Right now, there was a cave in front of him.
"Let’s take a look inside," Logan said, stepping over broken crystal on his way to the mouth of the cave.
It wasn’t much to look at. The space inside was small, barely large enough for the three bears to have slept in together, and the walls were bare gray stone with no markings anywhere.
Logan walked the edges anyway, running a hand along the rock.
He’d read enough beginner guides to know the Tower didn’t build empty caves for no reason. Every battleground generated in a match hid something for players willing to go looking. The only ones who found things were the ones who bothered to look.
But after a full circle of the small space, he found nothing. No cracks, no seams, nothing but cold stone.
He sighed and turned to leave. "Nothing here. Let’s go, Billy."
Billy had rolled up onto the cave wall itself, blade-legs gripping the stone somehow, and was running a slow line across the surface near the back.
Something clicked.
A section of the wall ground inward, then slid sideways, grinding stone against stone until a dark opening stood where solid rock had been a second ago.
```
[ Hidden Dungeon Found: The Crystalroot Hollow ]
Danger Level: 10 (Rare)
```
’A dungeon? No way!’
Logan’s mouth went dry. For one second, all he felt was pure shock, the kind that locked his legs in place and left his mind blank.
Then it hit him properly, and something close to joy shot straight through his chest.
He found a dungeon!
He forced himself to calm down before the excitement ran away with him. Danger Level 10, Rare. That wasn’t nothing.
People died to dungeons all the time, first-timers especially, and he had exactly one unit and a barrier skill he hadn’t even tested yet.
He looked at Billy.
Billy looked back, blades spinning lazily, entirely unbothered.
That settled it.
"Alright," Logan said, stepping up to the opening. Cold air drifted out of the dark, carrying a faint smell like wet stone, and something sharper underneath it.
"Let’s see what’s down there."
```

Billy rolled forward first, blades slowing to a careful hum, and disappeared into the dark.
Logan took one last breath of open air and followed him in.
