Global PvP Tower: I Can Infinitely Merge My Units
Chapter 90: Deadly BattleThe black halo demon rose out of the tenth portal like a tear in the world itself.
Wings of pure void unfolded from its back. Its eyes burned red across a dozen different points on its own skull. It hadn’t even finished emerging before both teams were already moving.
All four of them attacked at once.
Logan held back on purpose.
He’d seen the shimmer around the demon’s own chest a half second before Nyxara’s bullet arrived. Some kind of ward. A defense that could only swallow so much before it ran dry.
The bullet hit the ward and vanished into it. Vhalen’s shadow grip found the same wall and got shredded for its trouble.
Nyxara and Vhalen also knew there could be defence, but they thought their attacks would break it. But they couldn’t kill it.
Two attacks. Maybe that was the limit. Maybe it wasn’t.
Logan bet on it anyway. He released his attack, and so did Alice.
Overgrim Slash!
Horizon’s Requiem!
The dark arc tore free the instant the ward flickered, spent from swallowing the first two strikes.
With that, it came apart in silence.
```
[ +1,000 points. ]
```
"That’s game." Alice’s grin stretched wide.
---
The colosseum dissolved around them a moment later. Stone gave way to blue sky, then to the same small clearing they’d started in.
```
[ Rift of Fortune: Complete. Winning team may exit immediately. Losing team held for sixty seconds. ]
```
Logan and Alice vanished, appearing back to the island where they initially disappeared.
Logan pulled up the reward panel.
```
[ Relic Acquired: Wanderer’s Pulse (Uncommon) ]
Grants a passive increase to MP recovery rate.
```
"Uncommon." Alice snorted. "After all that."
"Still converts to Tier Points if we win the match." Logan shrugged, tucking it away anyway. "Better than nothing."
Neither of them moved to leave.
Alice rolled one shoulder, then the other, working out a stretch she didn’t actually need. Logan flexed his own grip on Grimlord’s Blade, patient.
"We’re not running," Alice said, like it wasn’t even a question.
"Never planned to." Logan’s eyes stayed fixed on the empty air where the two of them would reappear.
Sixty seconds passed like a held breath.
Then Nyxara and Vhalen dropped back into the clearing, and both their heads turned toward Logan and Alice in the same instant. Something decisive flashed behind both their eyes.
Neither one wasted a second more.
---
The two Mythic units struck first, twin beams of raw shadow and light tearing across the clearing.
Solveig’s clones met both of them head-on. Four of him, blades raised, absorbing the impact without giving an inch.
His own aura bloomed outward the instant contact landed.
Sovereign’s Wrath passive skill giving the buff as stats climbed across the board. Logan felt his own Attack surge. Alice felt her Speed do the same.
Both dark elves attacked at the same moment.
Nyxara’s rifle swung toward where Alice had been standing. Alice wasn’t there anymore.
Vhalen appeared directly behind Logan, dagger already swinging for his neck. Logan wasn’t there either.
Comet Step carried Alice sideways in a blink. Reaper’s Stride answered on its own, some instinct older than conscious thought pulling Logan clear a half second before the blade would have connected.
The fight opened for real.
---
Alice hit the ground running, bow already drawn.
Starpiercer Volley!
Three arrows split toward Nyxara’s position. Nyxara didn’t dodge. She simply wasn’t standing where the arrows expected her to be anymore, her whole body stretching and twisting around the shots like her spine had forgotten what bones were for.
"Rubber Physique." Alice muttered it, half impressed despite herself.
Nyxara answered with two shots in quick succession. Alice weaved between both, Comet Step carrying her low across the ground before the second bullet finished closing the distance.
Meteor Nock!
The heavy shot forced Nyxara to actually commit to a dodge this time, her own body bending backward at an angle no normal spine should have survived.
The arrow grazed her side anyway. Blood welled thin along the cut.
"First blood." Alice’s voice carried across the clearing, sharp with satisfaction.
Nyxara’s only answer was another shot, faster this time, forcing Alice to actually block with a raised arm instead of dodging clean, reducing durability of her Mythic-rank arm guards.
Pain flared. But Alice didn’t slow down.
---
Logan and Vhalen traded blows in a blur too fast for either to fully land.
Vhalen’s dagger came from three directions at once, shadow copies peeling away from his real body and striking independently. Logan caught one on Grimlord’s Blade, felt a second graze his ribs, and answered the third with a counter he hadn’t even consciously chosen.
Blade Veil Counter!
The veil caught Vhalen’s real strike a half second later, the actual dagger hidden somewhere inside all that chaos. The counter’s damage boost threaded straight into Logan’s next swing.
Severed Step!
Vhalen’s own footing gave out from under him. He recovered before he hit the ground, shadows catching him mid-fall and flinging him sideways out of range.
"You’re better than the last five I killed." Vhalen said it almost conversationally, dagger already spinning back into a ready grip.
"Wrong five to compare me to." Logan didn’t smile.
Overgrim Slash!
Vhalen dissolved into shadow entirely rather than dodge, the strike passing through empty smoke where his body had been.
He reformed a moment later, already moving again, dagger aimed for the same opening he’d tried before.
Neither of them had landed anything that actually mattered yet. Both of them were breathing harder than either wanted to admit.
---
Solveig hadn’t stopped moving the entire time.
His four clones cut through the enemy Mythic units in a rhythm that never once broke, blades meeting beams of shadow and light in a pattern too fast and too coordinated for two units to actually keep pace with.
One enemy unit staggered under a combined strike from two clones at once. The second tried to retreat and found a third clone already waiting in the space it meant to fall back into.
Bloodfall Destruction!
Crimson light swept across both enemy units in the same motion, and neither one recovered fast enough to answer before the fourth clone finished the job.
It wasn’t a fight anymore. It hadn’t been one for a while.
Solveig was dominating against two Mythic-rank units alone with his superior Mythic+ talents and skills that made for a powerful combat arsenal.
---
Alice felt the tide of her own fight shift the instant Solveig’s aura pulsed a second time, stats climbing further across her whole body.
Starpiercer Volley!
This time Nyxara’s stretch wasn’t quite fast enough. One arrow found her shoulder clean, gold fire spreading fast along the wound.
"Tch." Nyxara’s calm cracked for the first time all fight, retreating a step to smother the flame before it spread further.
Across the clearing, Logan felt the same surge roll through his own limbs.
Grim Devouring Slash!
The ethereal edge caught Vhalen’s next attempt at retreat, halving whatever speed and power he’d been counting on to escape it.
Overgrim Slash followed a half second later.
Vhalen barely got a shadow copy up in time to eat the worst of it, the real body behind it thrown backward hard enough to skid across the clearing floor.
Both dark elves staggered at once, Solveig’s overwhelming dominance over their own summons leaving them exposed in a way neither had planned for.
The tension in the clearing had stopped being close.
It had started tipping.
Then it tipped back.
Nyxara’s next shot caught Alice’s own shoulder before she finished her dodge, the impact spinning her half a step off balance. Vhalen used the opening to close distance fast, three shadow blades converging on Logan at once, forcing him to burn Blade Veil Counter just to stay upright.
Both dark elves pressed the advantage without mercy, driving Logan and Alice back step by step, the fight tilting hard in the wrong direction all at once.
Alice made the call first.
She didn’t aim for Nyxara again. She turned, drew, and put everything she had into a shot aimed at Vhalen instead.
Logan felt the shift a half second later and mirrored it without needing to be told, Grimlord’s Blade already swinging toward Nyxara in Vhalen’s place.
The switch caught both dark elves completely off guard.
Vhalen turned toward the new threat a fraction too slow, dagger only half raised by the time Alice’s arrow found him.
Starpiercer Volley!
The shot took him clean through the head. He didn’t get the word out in time.
Nyxara’s eyes went wide, the shock of it freezing her for one full second she didn’t have to spare.
Logan saw the opening and took it.
Adrenaline roared through him, battle heat drowning out everything except the blade in his own hand and the gap in front of him closing fast.
He didn’t hesitate.
The strike went clean through her neck. Her head rolled forward across the dirt, the rest of her following a half second later.
```
[ You have eliminated Player Vhalen Sarn. ]
[ You have eliminated Player Nyxara Veil. ]
```
Logan’s hand trembled around his own blade briefly.
This was his first real kill. Every fight before this had ended in a surrender, however close it had come.
"We... killed them." Alice’s voice came slow, working through the same realization at the same pace he was. This was her first real kill too. She’d dominated her own last match, but Floor One was full of newcomers and struggling players, and giving them the chance to surrender had cost her nothing at all.
Higher floors didn’t offer that kind of mercy. Not against players who wouldn’t have offered it back.
Logan looked at the girl’s body for three seconds. Then he turned away and took a slow breath.
"Let’s continue."
