Chapter 157: Blood Saber’s Ability

Chapter 157: Chapter 157: Blood Saber’s Ability

Zhou Mei barely avoided a fatal blow, but two of the throwing knives still slashed across her shoulder and thigh, and blood instantly gushed out.

At the same time, an intense, icy sensation spread from her wounds.

Zhou Mei dodged back, immediately realizing something was wrong. Her once-agile body had become sluggish, and a strange numbness emanated from her wounds.

As a Gifted herself, she immediately realized what was happening.

’Those red-glowing knives must have been imbued with his ability,’ she thought. ’The only question is, what exactly does it do?’

A cold smirk tugged at the corner of Blood Saber’s mouth. He readied another throwing knife, preparing to give Zhou Mei the finishing blow.

His ability was to imbue his throwing knives with a blood-red light.

This light drastically increased the knives’ speed and lethality, and he could even control their trajectory mid-flight within a certain range.

Furthermore, if a knife struck an enemy, the blood-red light would seep into their body through the wound.

Against weaker foes, the light alone was enough to be fatal.

Even against more resilient opponents, it would paralyze and stiffen their bodies.

Bena, who had been hiding in the shadows, also noticed something was wrong with Zhou Mei.

Just as the situation turned critical, Bena suddenly appeared. His shield traced a perfect arc, deflecting several of the blood-lit throwing knives in an instant.

After shielding Zhou Mei, Bena’s gaze grew cold and sharp, locking onto Blood Saber. He knew Blood Saber was the key to this battle. As long as he was defeated, the rest of the Blood Saber Gang would be no threat.

"Zhou Mei, fall back. I’ll handle him," Bena said in a low voice.

Though reluctant, Zhou Mei knew her injuries and the effects of Blood Saber’s ability made it impossible for her to keep fighting.

She nodded and quickly retreated to the side, circulating her own ability to try and counteract the paralysis.

Blood Saber looked at Bena, a flicker of surprise in his eyes.

He hadn’t expected anyone to block his knives so easily, and it made him realize Bena was no pushover.

Blood Saber glanced at the people behind Bena, a satisfied smile spreading across his face. ’All the rats have scurried out,’ he thought. ’This makes things much simpler.’

"Where are Xisuo and Simon?"

"Where are those two brats?"

"Bring them out, and I might just let the rest of you walk away."

Bena scoffed.

He didn’t believe a single word the man said.

’If they hadn’t already clashed directly, there might have been a sliver of truth to his offer.’

But Zhou Mei had already taken down at least twenty of his men during her assault.

The two sides were long past negotiating; this was a fight to the death. Any more talk was meaningless.

Bena gave him an indifferent glance and said calmly,

"You talk too much."

"Since you’re here, be prepared to pay the price."

A cold glint flashed in Blood Saber’s eyes.

"Good. Very good."

Blood Saber laughed, his fury turning to amusement. "I’d like to see what you’ve got."

As he spoke, he slowly drew the long saber from his waist, and a powerful aura erupted from his body.

Bena’s expression grew serious. He could sense that Blood Saber’s power was immense, far beyond that of an ordinary person.

"Everyone, be careful."

Bena warned in a low voice.

"I’ll take this guy."

"Everyone else, protect yourselves."

"Neil and Number 2, get clear of the melee and attack from a distance."

"Hawke, you and Lanton will keep the other enemies occupied."

"Zhou Yiming, you’re on healing and support."

Bena rapidly assigned their roles, and the team moved into action at once.

Blood Saber watched them coldly, the killing intent in his eyes intensifying.

"You bastards! Today, you will all pay with your blood!"

With a great roar, he brandished his long saber and charged at Bena and Lanton.

Not to be outdone, Bena immediately met his charge.

The two sides quickly clashed in an exceptionally fierce battle.

Both sides wore similar exoskeletons, so the gap in equipment was negligible.

However, Blood Saber was incredibly powerful, his long saber moving at extreme speeds thanks to the enhancement from the blood-red light.

Under his assault, Bena was quickly put on the defensive.

But while Bena was on the defensive, the rest of his team gained the upper hand the moment they engaged the enemy.

Blood Saber’s long saber left streaks of crimson light, each slash seeming to tear through the very air. Bena could only barely defend, forced back step by step.

Seeing this, Lanton immediately joined the fight, and together with Bena, they formed a pincer attack, barely managing to hold off Blood Saber’s offensive.

Even fighting two against one, Blood Saber held his ground. Each of his attacks was so ferocious that it forced Bena and Lanton to give their all just to defend.

Meanwhile, the others were performing their assigned roles.

Hawke and Zhou Yiming were at the edge of the battlefield; Hawke stood ready to deliver a fatal blow at any opportunity, while Zhou Yiming provided healing and support from the rear.

As the battle intensified, the members of the Blood Saber Gang, caught in the pincer attack, began to suffer casualties.

Fierce as Blood Saber was, his subordinates were being overwhelmed, and they began to fall one by one.

Seeing this, Blood Saber grew anxious. He knew that if this continued, his Blood Saber Gang might be completely annihilated.

He began searching for an opportunity to break through Bena’s encirclement.

However, Bena and his team weren’t about to let him get away so easily.

Bena and Lanton kept him tightly engaged, giving him no chance to break away.

The others relentlessly attacked, whittling down the Blood Saber Gang’s forces.

Just as the battle reached its peak, Zhou Mei, with Zhou Yiming’s healing, finally managed to shake off the paralysis.

She rejoined the fight, a black bolt of lightning weaving through the Blood Saber Gang’s members. Every strike she made took another life.

With Zhou Mei’s return, the deadlocked battle instantly became one-sided.

Seeing this, Blood Saber was filled with a mixture of shock and rage.

He hadn’t expected Zhou Mei to recover from his ability so quickly.

"You bastards! I’ll make you pay for this!"

Blood Saber roared, swinging his long saber even more frantically in an attempt to force Bena and Lanton back.

But Bena and Lanton were as steady as Tai Mountain; they had already figured out his attack patterns.

Blood Saber’s physical abilities were only slightly greater than an ordinary person’s. The only real threat was his glowing saber; as long as they didn’t get hit by it, he wasn’t much of a problem.

And with their coordinated teamwork, they could better withstand his onslaught.

At the same time, they were searching for an opening to land a fatal blow.

The battle raged on. The Blood Saber Gang’s numbers continued to dwindle, while Bena and his team only fought with greater ferocity.
