Chapter 208: Chapter 192: Abandoned Shelter (Part 2)

In an unsealed environment, even if the shelter’s supplies had been of decent quality, there was no way they could have survived several hundred years, especially not in a heavily contaminated area.

Zhou Mei and Bena exchanged a look, and both saw the disappointment in the other’s eyes.

In the center of the room was a large, transparent container filled with a murky liquid.

The surface of the container was covered in a thick layer of dust, but through it, he could see the liquid inside ripple slightly, as if something was moving within.

"Everyone, be careful. This could be dangerous," Bena warned.

The team members drew their weapons and watched the container warily.

Bena, meanwhile, carefully wiped the dust from the container’s surface, trying to get a clear look at the creature inside.

As the dust was gradually cleared away, the scene inside the container became clearer.

To everyone’s surprise, what was submerged in the container was a human corpse!

The body was perfectly preserved. Its skin was a sickly pale, its eyes were closed, and its face was serene.

The body was completely submerged in the liquid.

The difference was that this four-armed, tailed modified human had died before the Cataclysm, while her ancestors had survived and continued to reproduce to this day.

Bena nodded. He told the others to continue searching the shelter while he carefully observed the container.

He found some pipes at the bottom of the container connected to various instruments and devices.

Most of this equipment was broken, but Bena guessed it was likely what had been used to keep the body alive.

"This container must be a life-support system," Bena said.

"Perhaps this monster was created before the Cataclysm and has been preserved in this container ever since."

Zhou Mei stepped forward, scrutinizing the corpse in the container.

"This thing’s strength is definitely not to be underestimated. We have to be extremely careful."

Bena nodded. He told the others to continue searching the shelter while he cautiously observed the container.
