Chapter 246: Chapter 211: Three New Missions
As the shelter continued to develop, Ye Yun realized they needed more resources and more space to support their future progress.
He began preparing for the next phase of expansion to accommodate the growing population and their demand for resources.
In the shelter’s laboratory, the research team was dissecting and studying the mutated creature carcasses that Lin Hao had brought back.
They hoped to uncover the secret to the creature’s immense power and use that knowledge to advance the shelter’s technology.
"Ye Yun, we’ve found some abnormal structures in the mutated creature’s cells. This might be the key to their incredible vitality," Amy, the head of the research team, reported.
Ye Yun was thrilled. "This is a major breakthrough. Keep up the research. See if you can apply these findings to improve our medicines and treatments."
Amy nodded. "We’ve already begun the relevant experiments. I’m confident we’ll have more results soon."
Ye Yun patted Amy’s shoulder, satisfied. "Good. Your hard work will bring about a massive transformation for the shelter."
At the shelter’s construction site, Zhou Mei and Leo were supervising the new round of construction. They were using newly mined ore to build even sturdier defensive fortifications.
"These new walls are much thicker and stronger than before," Zhou Mei said, pointing to a recently completed section. "I’m sure they’ll be able to withstand attacks from mutated creatures."
Leo admired the new walls as well. "Not only that, but we’ve also utilized some of the metallic elements from the ore to increase the walls’ durability."
In every corner of the shelter, everyone was striving toward a common goal. They knew that only by standing united could they hope to survive in this challenging world.
And outside the shelter, the Wasteland World remained a place of danger and uncertainty.
But Ye Yun and his people were ready. No matter what difficulties the future held, they would face them bravely, for they shared a common conviction and purpose.
They believed that as long as they stood united and worked together, the shelter’s future would be bright.
And they, in turn, would become the builders and Guardians of this new world.
Meanwhile, the data Bena’s team had brought back was being sorted and classified.
Researchers discovered new designs for energy technology and defense systems, which promised to improve the shelter’s energy efficiency and defensive capabilities.
Ye Yun was very pleased with these results. He knew these advancements would bring the shelter greater hope and potential for growth.
He encouraged the research team to continue their hard work, to keep exploring and innovating.
At that moment, a mission screen materialized before Ye Yun once more.
New Mission 1: Energy Exploration
Mission Description: As the shelter’s energy demands grow, existing sources can no longer support development. Find new energy supplies to ensure the shelter’s energy security.
Objective: Within 30 days, find a sustainable new energy supply method.
Reward: 1x Random Purple Blueprint, 100x Purple Components
New Mission 2: Defense Upgrade
Mission Description: To counter increasingly complex external threats, the shelter’s defense system requires a comprehensive upgrade.
Objective: Within 25 days, complete the shelter’s defense system upgrade.
Reward: 2x Random Blue Blueprints, 300x Blue Components
New Mission 3: Medical Development
Mission Description: Improve the shelter’s medical capabilities to better safeguard the lives of its residents.
Objective: Within 20 days, establish a comprehensive medical system, including pharmaceutical R&D, disease prevention, and casualty treatment.
Reward: 2x Random Green Blueprints, 200x White Components, 100x Medicine
Ye Yun stood at the head of the conference room, his determined gaze sweeping across every member. He knew that successfully completing these missions was vital to the shelter’s development.
"Everyone," Ye Yun’s voice echoed through the conference room, "we are facing an unprecedented challenge, but also an unprecedented opportunity. Every mission is critical, and we need our best people to take on these heavy responsibilities."
Ye Yun’s gaze first fell upon Lin Hao, the only scholar in the shelter who could read pre-cataclysm text.
"Lin Hao, Mission One requires you to explore the possibility of new energy sources. We trust that with your knowledge and skills, you’ll be able to find a viable solution."
Lin Hao rose to his feet, a flicker of excitement and resolve in his eyes. "I understand, Ye Yun. I’ll do everything in my power to find a sustainable new energy source for the shelter."
Next, Ye Yun turned to Zhou Mei and Leo, who had extensive experience in construction and resource development. "Zhou Mei, Leo, Mission Two requires you to upgrade the shelter’s defense system. Our growth needs to be protected by stronger defenses."
Zhou Mei and Leo stood up, their eyes also showing excitement and determination. "Ye Yun, we understand. We’ll do everything we can to build a stronger defense system for the shelter."
Finally, Ye Yun’s gaze fell upon Bena. Bena was the shelter’s diplomat, a man who had never lost at the negotiating table.
"Bena, Mission Three requires you to develop our medical system. Your organizational skills and respect for life will be our greatest assets."
Bena nodded, his voice firm and strong. "Ye Yun, I will not fail. I’ll ensure our medical system can better safeguard the lives of our residents."
After assigning the missions, Ye Yun once again stressed their importance and encouraged everyone to give it their all.
"I know this won’t be an easy path, but our unity and wisdom are our greatest weapons. Let’s face these challenges together—for the shelter’s future, and for the future of us all."
The conference room erupted in enthusiastic applause, everyone inspired by Ye Yun’s words.
They knew this wasn’t just about completing missions. It was about their shared home and their hope for survival in this Wasteland World.
"We’re ready, Ye Yun!" a voice called out from the crowd, followed by a chorus of agreement. "For the shelter! For the future!"
Ye Yun smiled. He knew they were ready. Together, they would face the challenges and write their own history.
「After some brief preparations, the three teams set off on their respective journeys.」
Lin Hao’s team headed into the depths of the wasteland, exploring the possibility of new energy sources.
Zhou Mei and Leo’s team began planning and implementing the shelter’s defense upgrades.
And Bena began organizing personnel to establish a comprehensive medical system.
Under Ye Yun’s direction, the three teams began their respective missions. Each team had its own objectives and responsibilities, and they knew this was not just a test of their individual abilities, but also of their teamwork.
Lin Hao stood before the ruins of a laboratory, gazing at a place that had once been full of life but was now nothing but rubble. He took a deep breath, then led his team into the unknown territory. Sunlight streamed through shattered windows, casting mottled patterns on the dusty floor and creating a desolate scene.
"Careful, everyone. The structure here might be unstable," Lin Hao warned his team. They followed close behind, warily scanning their surroundings.
They passed through room after room, discovering lots of abandoned lab equipment and scattered documents. Lin Hao crouched down, picked up a file, and gently brushed off the dust before reading it intently.
"Look, it’s a research report on improving solar panel efficiency," Lin Hao said, handing the file to a team member beside him. "Some of this technology might be outdated, but it’s a foundation we can build on."
The team members all nodded. They began gathering the precious documents, hoping to find more useful information. Lin Hao walked over to a dilapidated lab bench, where several damaged solar panels and windmill models lay.
