Chapter 257: Chapter 217: Anomaly

As the shelter continued to develop and grow, Ye Yun realized they needed more resources and space to support their future progress. He started preparing the next phase of expansion to accommodate their growing population and resource demands.

Inside the shelter’s laboratory, the research team was dissecting and studying the mutated creature’s corpse that Lin Hao had brought back. They hoped to uncover the secret to the creature’s immense power and use that knowledge to advance the shelter’s technology.

"Ye Yun, we’ve found some abnormal structures in the mutated creature’s cells. This might be the key to their powerful life force," Amy, the head of the research team, reported their findings to Ye Yun.

Ye Yun was thrilled. "This is a major breakthrough. Continue your research and see if you can apply these findings to improve our medicine and treatments."

Amy nodded. "We’ve already begun the relevant experiments. I’m confident we’ll have more results soon."

Ye Yun patted Amy’s shoulder, satisfied. "Excellent. Your efforts will bring about tremendous change for the shelter."

At the shelter’s construction site, Zhou Mei and Leo were supervising the new phase of construction. They used newly mined ore to build more robust fortifications.

"These new walls are much thicker and stronger than before," Zhou Mei said, pointing to a recently completed section. "I’m sure they can effectively repel attacks from the mutated creatures."

Leo also expressed his approval. "And not just that, we also utilized some of the metallic elements in the ore to increase the walls’ durability."

In every corner of the shelter, everyone worked hard toward a common goal. They knew that only by standing united could they survive in this world full of challenges.

Outside the shelter, however, the wasteland remained a world fraught with danger and uncertainty. But Ye Yun and his people were ready. No matter what difficulties the future held, they would face them head-on, for they shared a common conviction and purpose.

They believed that as long as they remained united and worked together, the shelter’s future would be bright. And they would become the builders and Guardians of this new world.

Meanwhile, the data Bena’s team brought back was also being organized and categorized. The researchers discovered some new designs related to energy technology and defense systems, which were expected to improve the shelter’s energy efficiency and defensive capabilities.

Ye Yun was very pleased with these results. He knew these advancements would bring the shelter greater hope and opportunities for growth.

He encouraged the research team to continue their hard work, constantly exploring and innovating.

However, as the shelter expanded and developed, new challenges arose in tandem.

Hostile forces had taken notice of the shelter’s prosperity and began to conspire in the shadows.

Ye Yun received intelligence that some unidentified individuals were approaching the shelter with unknown intentions.

"We need to strengthen our vigilance and not let external threats destroy our home," Ye Yun said gravely at the meeting.

Lin Hao, Zhou Mei, Leo, and Bena all agreed. They began to formulate a plan to strengthen the shelter’s defensive measures.

Upon learning of the threat from the Desert Wolf, Ye Yun quickly summoned the shelter’s key members to discuss a counterstrategy.

Lin Hao, Zhou Mei, Leo, and Bena sat around the long conference table, their faces grim.

"We can’t just wait for them to come to us. We have to strike first," Ye Yun said, breaking the silence. His gaze was firm and resolute.

Lin Hao nodded, his fingers drumming lightly on the tabletop as he thought about possible tactics.

"We can use the wasteland’s complex terrain to set up a series of traps and ambushes. The Desert Wolf isn’t familiar with the environment here, which gives us the advantage."

"Exactly," Zhou Mei added. "We can lay traps along their likely routes—deep pits, spikes, things like that. We can also use the cover of darkness to position snipers at high vantage points for surveillance and to pick them off."

Leo added,

"Our fortifications need to be reinforced as well. We have to make sure every entrance to the shelter has adequate defenses, like strengthening the walls and setting up roadblocks and barriers."

Bena, in turn, proposed his plan.

"I’ll select a group of agile, experienced Warriors to form a quick-reaction team. The moment the Desert Wolf falls into our traps, we can strike fast and catch them completely by surprise."

After listening to everyone’s input, Ye Yun began to draw up a detailed plan of action. He assigned tasks to each of them, making sure every part of the operation was covered.

"Lin Hao, you’re in charge of setting the traps and ambushes. Zhou Mei and Leo, you two will reinforce the fortifications. Bena, I’m putting you in charge of forming and training the quick-reaction team," Ye Yun commanded.

A few days later, the shelter’s residents, led by Ye Yun, began their intense preparations.

They dug deep pits across the wasteland, laid sharp spikes, and set up sniper nests in high places. The fortifications were also being rapidly strengthened: the walls were reinforced, and multiple layers of barriers were erected at the entrances.

Bena’s quick-reaction team was also training intensely. They practiced rapid assembly and learned how to quickly locate and engage targets in the dark. A single belief was instilled in every member of the team: protect their home, and never back down.
