Standing at the edge of the stone maze, Thoren merely stared at the narrow entrance for a moment before he and his undead stepped into the maze.

Although the three directors had managed to flee quickly, their tracks were easily found by him.

Apart from that, their escaping route matched the same direction he was going.

Thus, he was not in a hurry to catch up to them.

There was no reason to rush when their destination was already the same.

Just as he tried to push his perception deeper into the stone maze, his perception was suddenly repelled.

’Hmm?’

He creased his brow as a deep frown appeared on his face.

The sensation was strange.

It was as though an invisible wall had suddenly appeared inside his mind, preventing his perception from moving any farther.

He tried to push his perception further.

Nothing happened.

He increased the strength of his perception again, forcing it deeper into the maze.

Yet the result remained the same.

Apart from the stones actively repelling his perception, it seemed as though something else was devouring it.

Every strand of perception that touched the deeper area disappeared without leaving the slightest trace.

Thoren’s expression gradually became solemn.

This was the first time since entering the Bleeding Desert that something had directly interfered with his perception in such a strange manner.

He did not know what was hiding inside the stone maze.

More importantly, he did not know whether the thing devouring his perception was a natural phenomenon or something deliberately placed here.

Without hesitation, he withdrew his perception.

The moment he stopped forcing his perception forward, the uncomfortable sensation inside his mind disappeared.

Thoren narrowed his eyes.

He did not intend to test the unknown danger blindly.

Without hesitation, he sent two undead Echo Scarabs ahead to scout the path.

Although he might not be able to use his powerful perception inside the maze, his mental connection with his undead remained completely unobstructed.

That alone was enough.

Quickly, the two undead Echo Scarabs vanished deeper into the stone maze.

Their small bodies moved silently between the massive stone formations as they continuously scanned their surroundings.

They acted like two living radars, carefully searching for movement, hidden creatures, strange energy fluctuations, and anything else that might pose a threat.

With the two Echo Scarabs taking the lead, Thoren’s movement through the stone maze became much faster.

He followed behind them without hesitation.

Each step he took was filled with confidence.

This confidence did not come merely from knowing that his undead were scouting ahead.

It came from his own strength.

Even if something dangerous suddenly appeared before him, he was confident he could handle it.

With two Level 40 creatures and several Level 39 undead under his command, Thoren did not believe there was anything inside this maze that he could not fight.

Following the map, he ventured deeper into the stone maze.

The massive stones continued stretching endlessly around him, each formation looking almost identical to the next.

Suddenly, his brow creased, a message had arrived through his mental link.

Movement had been detected.

Thoren’s expression immediately became serious.

Without hesitation, he summoned five undead shield soldiers.

The moment they appeared, they moved toward the front and formed a defensive line.

Instantly, the number of undead surrounding Thoren rose to ten.

They formed a tight wall around him, their massive shields raised while their weapons remained ready.

Thoren stood calmly in the middle of the formation.

His deep blue eyes slowly swept across the surrounding stone formations. The heavy footsteps of the undead soldiers echoed through the still atmosphere.

Each step reverberated between the massive stones, traveling deep into the maze.

The sound was almost like a deliberate beacon. It announced their presence to anything hiding within the stone maze.

Yet nothing happened.

Shortly afterward, Thoren and his undead stepped into the crimson sand.

The moment his feet touched the bloody-red surface, Thoren immediately noticed the difference.

The atmosphere had changed.

The air felt heavier, and an oppressive sensation seemed to linger beneath the surface of the sand, making even the surrounding silence feel strangely dangerous.

The sudden change in terrain was enough for him to understand that they had entered a much more dangerous zone.

More importantly, this was the exact area where the undead Echo Scarabs had detected movement deep beneath the sand.

Thoren’s eyes narrowed slightly as he scanned the crimson ground.

Something was hiding beneath them.

The question was what.

Thoren and his undead had barely traveled for ten minutes when the ground suddenly trembled violently beneath their feet.

Boom!

The crimson sand erupted into the air.

A powerful creature suddenly burst from beneath the ground, its enormous body shooting forward with terrifying speed.

The sudden eruption scattered sand in every direction as the colossal beast charged toward them.

Thoren remained completely unsurprised by the sudden appearance of the massive beast.

His expression remained calm.

’Kill!’

The undead reacted without hesitation.

The colossal beast possessed a massive head with a wide maw filled with rows of sharp, serrated teeth.

Its enormous mouth opened wide enough to swallow a human whole, while several long tentacles surrounded its massive head.

Small eyes were embedded at the tips of each tentacle, allowing the creature to observe its surroundings from multiple directions simultaneously.

The sight alone would have terrified an ordinary awakener.

But Thoren’s undead did not possess fear.

Instantly, the undead shield soldiers stepped forward.

They planted their massive shields firmly into the crimson sand, positioning their bodies behind them and forming an impenetrable wall.

The sudden appearance of the defensive formation caught the beast completely off guard.

It had expected its surprise attack to tear through its prey.

Instead, it slammed directly into a wall of shields.

Boom!

The impact was enormous.

The ground trembled beneath the collision as the creature’s massive body crashed heavily into the shields.

The undead shield soldiers remained firmly rooted in place.

They did not retreat even a single step.

The colossal creature, however, stumbled backward from the impact.

Shock and disbelief appeared within the dozens of eyes attached to its tentacles.

It could not understand what had happened.

Its prey should have been helpless.

It had attacked from beneath the sand at terrifying speed.

Yet they had stopped it.

Before the beast could even process how its prey had managed to defend against its sneak attack, a massive shadow suddenly appeared within its vision.

The undead Storm Tyrant had already raised its enormous hammer.

Shriek!

The colossal beast released a deafening shriek filled with anger and confusion. Unfortunately, its intimidation was completely useless against undead.

Boom!

The massive hammer of the undead Storm Tyrant slammed thunderously into the creature’s head. The impact caused its enormous skull to jerk violently backward.

Ahhhh!

A miserable scream escaped from the beast’s massive maw. Its dozens of tentacles twisted wildly as blood erupted from the point of impact.

It was enraged.

It was confused.

Most importantly, it was beginning to realize that the creatures before it were far more dangerous than it had expected.

Bang!

Another hammer strike crashed into its head.

Bang!

Then another.

Bang! Bang! Bang!

Without giving it even a chance to recover, the undead Storm Tyrant unleashed a relentless barrage of powerful hammer strikes.

Each blow landed heavily against the creature’s massive head.

The sound of bone cracking repeatedly echoed across the crimson sand.

Shriek!

Miserable shrieks escaped from its mouth as blood splattered across the ground and sprayed against the surrounding stone walls.

Its tentacles flailed desperately, their countless small eyes filled with panic as it finally realized that it was facing an unreasonable creature

But the shield soldiers remained firmly positioned between it and Thoren.

The beast could not reach its target.

Realizing its precarious situation, the colossal beast finally abandoned the thought of fighting. Its massive body twisted violently as it attempted to retreat deep into the crimson sand.

But how could that be possible?

The moment it turned to escape, another undead had already moved.

Whoosh!

The massive broadsword of the undead Guild Captain swept through the air with terrifying speed. Before it could bury itself beneath the sand, the enormous blade struck its massive head.

Boom!

The impact was devastating.

The colossal creature’s head was cleaved apart, the massive blade cutting through flesh and bone with overwhelming force.
