Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons

Chapter 532: The Foreboding Feeling. (Bonus Chapter)

Since entering the endless field of bones, Thoren had felt an inexplicable uneasiness growing steadily within him.

At first, it had been nothing more than a faint discomfort buried deep within his instincts.

It was subtle that he could easily ignore it while focusing on the trail left behind by the fleeing Director.

But the farther he traveled across the bone-filled plain, the stronger that feeling became.

It was no longer something he could dismiss.

Something was wrong.

Very wrong.

Thoren’s deep blue eyes swept across the endless field of white bones while the ghostly wails continued echoing throughout the desolate plain.

Yet no matter how carefully he searched his surroundings, he could not identify the source of the uneasiness pressing against his heart.

’What is this feeling?’ His brows slowly tightened.

He had encountered countless dangerous situations since entering the Abyss, and his instincts had repeatedly warned him whenever something capable of threatening his life appeared.

But this feeling was different.

It was not simply the sensation of being watched.

It was something deeper.

Something that seemed to come from the very environment around him.

’Is something bad going to happen to me?’

His expression became increasingly solemn.

Thoren rarely allowed his emotions to influence his decisions, but this was different. And right now, every instinct within him was warning him.

Something terrible was approaching.

His eyes suddenly narrowed.

’Is it possible the Slave Trade Guild is about to complete their ritual?’ The thought immediately caused his uneasiness to intensify.

He remembered everything the Ancient Scorpion had told him.

The mysterious humans who had been searching for the remaining traces of that forbidden experiment.

And most importantly, the Slave Trade Guild’s strange obsession with blood and slaves.

Without hesitation, he summoned his undead mount.

Whoosh!

A massive undead Greater Dune Scorpion emerged from his undead space, standing before him. Quickly, he mounted it and commanded.

"Move."

The undead Greater Dune Scorpion responded instantly. Its enormous body surged forward with terrifying speed.

Boom!

Clouds of dust exploded behind them as the undead creature raced across the endless bone field toward the western passage.

Thoren leaned slightly forward, his silver hair whipping violently behind him as the endless bone plain wind tore across his face.

His eyes remained fixed ahead with his heart pounding heavily against his chest.

He pushed the undead mount harder.

Faster.

He needed to reach the western passage before whatever was happening there could be completed.

The ghostly wails continued following him.

BOOM!

Suddenly, a tremendous explosion suddenly thundered across the plain.

The entire world seemed to shake.

The ground beneath the Greater Dune Scorpion trembled violently as countless white bones jumped from the ground and crashed against one another.

The distant stone formations shook.

The crimson sand rose into the air.

Even the ghostly wailing abruptly became chaotic, countless spectral voices screaming simultaneously as though something had awakened beneath the earth.

Thoren’s body stiffened.

His heart suddenly pounded heavily inside his chest.

Boom!

Another deep vibration spread through the land.

Thoren’s eyes widened slightly.

His foreboding feeling had become even stronger.

Something had happened.

Something enormous.

"Faster."

His voice was low and cold.

The undead Greater Dune Scorpion accelerated without hesitation.

Its massive claws smashed through bones scattered across the ground as it raced toward the western passage.

The distance that had previously seemed enormous rapidly disappeared beneath its terrifying speed.

Soon, the massive bone formations marking the entrance of the western passage appeared ahead.

Thoren’s expression became increasingly solemn as he could feel the strange energy from here.

It was powerful.

Far more powerful than anything he had sensed from the Slave Trade Guild’s hideout.

The air itself seemed to tremble.

The closer he came, the stronger the pressure became. Then suddenly, the western passage opened into another vast region.

Thoren’s pupils contracted.

He had arrived at the bank of the river of blood.

The endless crimson river stretched before him, its surface unnaturally calm despite the enormous quantity of blood flowing through it.

But this time, something had changed.

At the center of the river was the gigantic tower.

The twenty-meter structure rose from the blood like an ancient monument that had existed since the beginning of time.

Its dark stone walls were covered in mysterious ancient markings.

But what immediately captured Thoren’s attention was the center of the tower.

A flame was burning there.

Not an ordinary flame.

It was enormous.

Crimson and black flames twisted violently within the center of the ancient tower, illuminating the surrounding structure while releasing an oppressive aura that made the entire river of blood tremble.

The flames seemed to be connected to the blood beneath the tower. Every time they burned brighter, the entire river rippled.

Thoren stared at the scene and his heart sank. "So it has already begun..."

Everything suddenly became clear.

The mysterious tower.

The river of blood.

The Slave Trade Guild’s obsession with blood.

The ancient ritual.

And the strange foreboding that had been haunting him since entering the bone field.

They were connected.

The Slave Trade Guild had finally reached the place they had been searching for.

And judging from the enormous flame burning within the tower, they had already started whatever ritual they had been preparing.

Thoren’s expression immediately turned deadly cold.

How could he allow them to continue with their crazy ritual?

Without wasting another second, he commanded his mount to charge forward.

The Greater Dune Scorpion rushed toward the riverbank. Thoren leaped from its back before it could even come to a complete stop.

Whoosh!

His body landed at the edge of the crimson river while his eyes locked onto the strange stone slabs floating across its surface.

He withdrew his mount back into the undead space with his heart burning with firm determination.

Without hesitation, Thoren stepped onto the first stone.

The moment his foot touched its surface, the slab trembled slightly beneath him.

Without caring about it, he moved rapidly across the river of blood, his expression becoming increasingly cold

His eyes locked on the flame burning brighter at the center of the tower.

And with every step Thoren took toward the tower, the uneasy feeling inside his heart grew stronger.
