Thoren narrowed his eyes, staring at the mysterious figure.

The mysterious figure remained suspended above the blood river while its illusory body towering over the crimson water like an ancient nightmare.

Its entire body was shrouded in a hazy black-red aura that constantly twisted and distorted the surrounding space.

It carries an overwhelming presence of decay, destruction, and pure evil that makes even the air around it feel dead.

Dozens of long tendrils extended from its body.

They resembled enormous roots mixed with serpents, twisting and writhing around its illusory form while occasionally stretching toward the blood river beneath it.

At the center of the figure was a horrifying face covered with countless eyes, each eye different from the others, some narrow and bloodshot.

Others were completely black, staring without emotion and making Thoren’s skin crawl despite the distance separating them.

For a brief moment, the mysterious existence simply stared at him.

Thoren did not move.

His entire body remained tense as his deep blue eyes locked with those countless eyes.

Although the figure did not release any obvious killing intent, the instinctive warning screaming inside his mind was enough to make his fingers slowly tighten.

Then, without making a sound, the mysterious figure descended. Its enormous illusory body slowly sank toward the blood river.

The moment its body touched the crimson surface, it disappeared.

Watching this, Thoren’s brow furrowed.

"What..."

Before he could finish his thought, the blood river moved. At first, it was barely noticeable.

The calm surface trembled gently before a tiny current began flowing through the blood river, moving slowly.

Then the current became stronger while the blood began flowing faster.

Faster.

And faster.

Within seconds, the previously calm river had transformed into a massive moving current that swept through the endless blood river, carrying waves of crimson water toward an unknown destination.

But this was not the flow of an ordinary river.

The entire blood river seemed to be moving toward a specific direction.

Thoren stared at the scene with a solemn expression when suddenly his heart tightened. A powerful foreboding sensation emerged from the deepest part of his soul.

It was not the same uneasiness he had experienced earlier.

This was stronger.

Much stronger.

And Thoren was not the only one who felt it.

Far away from the blood river, throughout the Bleeding Desert, countless humans suddenly stopped what they were doing.

[Horn Lizard Town]

Inside Horn Lizard Town, an awakener carrying several beast corpses suddenly froze in the middle of the street and his fingers loosened.

Thud!

The corpses fell to the ground and he did not even notice. His face had suddenly gone pale as an inexplicable chill spread through his body.

"What... was that?" He pressed a hand against his chest.

His heart was beating violently.

Around him, other humans experienced the same sensation almost simultaneously.

Even those drinking inside the taverns lowered their cups and looked around with confused expressions.

"What?! Did you feel that?"

"...Yes"

"It came from..." The man swallowed hard.

No one could explain why, but every person there felt the same thing. But they all knew one thing...

Something was wrong.

[Mantis Town]

Inside Mantis Town, the atmosphere changed almost instantly.

A group of awakeners sitting inside a tavern were laughing loudly when one of them suddenly stopped mid-sentence.

His smile disappeared.

The cup in his hand trembled.

His companions looked at him.

"What?"

"I..."

He could not finish as his face slowly turned pale. A second later, another awakener stood from his seat, his chair scraping loudly against the floor.

"Did you guys feel that?"

The tavern became silent. One by one, people began looking at each other.

Their laughter disappeared and the excitement in the air vanished.

Even the people who had been discussing Black Water and the recent changes in the town suddenly became uneasy.

[Sandroach Village]

The same phenomenon spread to Sandroach Village.

Human awakeners coming back from hunting beasts suddenly became restless and were constantly looking over their shoulders.

"What are you doing?" One of them asked.

"I thought something was going to attack me." His companion frowned.

"There is nothing there."

"I know."

Neither of them spoke afterward but each of them were lost in their own thoughts about the strange uneasy feeling that just happened.

[The Bleeding Desert]

The phenomenon did not stop at the towns. Every human settlement across the Bleeding Desert experienced the same strange disturbance.

Awakeners sleeping inside inns suddenly woke up drenched in cold sweat. Parties traveling through the desert suddenly stopped in their tracks.

Groups exploring ruins abandoned their search and looked around nervously.

Some experienced headaches while some felt their hearts pounding.

Others simply stood motionless, staring into the distance without understanding why they were afraid.

The strongest among awakeners were the most disturbed. They could sense that this was not an ordinary phenomenon.

Something had changed inside the abyss..

...

...

Back beside the blood river, Thoren stood motionless as the crimson current continued rushing forward.

His expression was deadly grim.

After seeing the mysterious figure descend into the river and witnessing the entire blood river begin moving, he could no longer dismiss the feeling .

"What is going on?" His voice was low.

He tried to connect everything in his mind but did not know where to even start.

What exactly had the Slave Trade Guild trying to do?

Thoren clenched his fist tightly.

There were too many unanswered questions.

Yet despite his growing uneasiness, he knew remaining here would accomplish nothing.

Whatever had happened had already happened.

He could not change it.

Shaking his head, Thoren forced himself to suppress the complicated thoughts filling his mind.

He took a deep breath and his expression became resolute.

"I should focus on my trial..." He muttered softly.

"For now..."

No matter how strange the Bleeding Desert had become, he still needed to complete his trial and find a way back to the surface.

He turned away from the blood river.

For now, he decided not to think about what had happened. But deep within his heart, that ominous feeling refused to disappear.
