Global Survival: I Have Endless Skeletons
Chapter 565: The Battle Took A Drastic TurnThe moment Thoren shook the bell, the atmosphere throughout the street changed instantly.
Ting.
The sound was not loud, nor did it travel very far, yet the moment that single note spread through the air.
Something invisible swept across the entire street.
The ordinary people grabbed their heads as deep grunts escaped from their throats.
Some dropped to one knee while others pressed both hands against their temples, their faces turning pale as a strange sensation spread through their minds.
"What is this...?"
"I can’t..."
A woman stumbled against a wall, breathing heavily, while a man fell onto his knees and clenched his teeth, trying to endure the strange pressure that had suddenly appeared inside his head.
Even the soldiers behind Thoren felt something pass through their bodies. It was slightly painful, like a deep vibration that reached somewhere beyond their physical senses.
For the evil black creatures, however, it was an entirely different story.
The effect was immediate.
Their bodies violently jerked as miserable screeches erupted from their throats. They produced a sound so unnatural that many people instinctively covered their ears.
The black tendrils extending from their bodies suddenly froze in place, remaining suspended in the air for several seconds before beginning to twitch.
At first, the movement was barely noticeable, but the tendrils soon began spasming violently as though they were being subjected to a powerful electric shock.
The creatures’ bodies convulsed, their limbs slamming against the ground while some twisted so violently that their joints bent in unnatural directions.
One of them collapsed onto the street, its fingers clawing desperately against the pavement as its entire body wriggled in pain.
Another slammed its head against the ground repeatedly, sending blood and black fluid splattering across the pavement.
The ordinary people who had been fleeing stopped and stared at the scene in disbelief.
Thoren’s eyes remained cold as he watched the scene. The sound had not affected the humans in the same way because they were not its true targets.
Before the people could register the strange scene in their mind, the four undead soldiers move.
Whoosh!
Their bodies shot forward with swift and precise movements, with one undead servant rushing toward the left side of the street and another moving toward the right.
The remaining two advanced directly through the center with their weapons already raised.
The first undead servant reached an infected police officer who was still writhing on the ground, his black tendrils twitching uncontrollably.
It raised its sword without hesitation, and the blade came down in a clean arc.
Slash!
The infected officer’s head was cleaved from his body, sending blood spraying across the pavement as the severed head rolled several meters away before stopping beside a broken vehicle.
The body remained motionless, and the black substance covering its skin began to wither at a visible speed.
The ordinary people stared at the corpse in stunned silence.
Without caring about the people’s reaction, the undead soldier immediately moved toward its next target, where another infected human was desperately trying to crawl away.
Its body continued spasming from the bell’s effect.
It raised its head and released another miserable screech, but the undead servant appeared beside it and drove its spear through the creature’s chest, pinning it to the ground.
The infected human struggled as its black tendrils whipped violently through the air, but the undead servant held the spear firmly before it raised its leg and brought it down.
Bang!
The head was crushed into meat paste.
In another direction, another infected human attempted to rise, only to be struck down immediately.
The people watching began to understand what was happening.
These creatures might have been difficult to kill, and their bodies might possess terrifying regenerative abilities, but against a severed head, that ability was useless.
The four undead seem to understand that perfectly.
Rather than wasting time attacking the creatures’ bodies, they went directly for their heads, taking down one infected human after another with quick and decisive strikes.
Slash!
A head fell.
Another body collapsed beneath a powerful spear thrust, and before the creature could recover, the undead servant finished it with a clean strike.
The battlefield quickly became a slaughter, but this time the slaughter was moving in the opposite direction.
The creatures that had been hunting the people were now the ones being hunted. Their miserable screams echoing through the district as black tendrils lashed desperately at the undead servants.
One tendril wrapped around an undead’s arm.
The undead simply pulled, dragging the creature toward itself before its sword flashed through the air and severed the creature head from its body.
Another black creature attempted to flee, crawling rapidly across the street on all fours while its body twisted unnaturally.
Before it could even flee, an undead soldier was already behind it. Looking over its shoulder, the black creature saw the undead and it froze in shock. And then...
Slash!
Its head flew through the air while its body collapsed against the pavement. As for the undead soldier, it did not stop and immediately moved toward another target.
The people could barely keep up with what they were seeing.
The battle that had terrified them only moments earlier had completely changed. It was as if what happened earlier was nothing but an illusion.
Perhaps, they were hallucinating.
It was not real.
A young man standing behind an overturned vehicle slowly lowered the crude weapon in his hand.
He had been prepared to fight to the death but now he could only stare at the undead soldiers cutting through the monsters like fish on a chopping board.
"Are those... undead?"
Nobody answered.
A woman beside him swallowed nervously as she watched another creature fall.
"How strong are they?"
As for Thoren, he was still standing in the middle of the street with the small bell in his hand. His expression remained calm as he watched his undead soldiers tear through the infected creatures with frightening efficiency.
