Watching the brutal efficiency of the four undead, the soldiers were left dumbfounded once again.

Each wearing a different expression as they struggled to process what they were seeing.

They had thought they already understood how powerful the undead were after watching them tear through the beast tide. But what they were witnessing now was on another level.

Those creatures could withstand bullets, regenerate from severe injuries, and overwhelm trained police officers, yet the four undead servants moved through them with frightening precision.

Every strike was a kill.

A decapitation.

It was easy and effortless, making the previous struggle and tense atmosphere seem like a joke.

Many swallowed hard.

Many took a deep breath and exhaled through their nose.

And while the soldiers were still trying to wrap their heads around the difference in strength, the battle continued to rage throughout the street.

The undead were not merely killing those who had already transformed. They were also searching for people who had been infected but had yet to show any obvious signs.

One of them suddenly stopped beside a group of people hiding behind an overturned vehicle. Among them was a young man holding his younger brother.

"Don’t be afraid," he whispered. "We will be fine."

Neither noticed the undead approaching and then the sword flashed.

Slash!

The young man’s brother collapsed into his arms, blood covering his clothes. The young man froze before his expression twisted with grief and anger.

"What did you do?" He shouted and glared at the undead.

"You killed him!"

The undead remained silent.

The young man opened his mouth to scream again, but then his brother’s corpse twitched.

"Brother?"

Black veins suddenly spread across the boy’s face and his back arched violently, and black tendrils began pushing through his stomach.

Instantly, the young man’s face drained of color and it was then, he understand.

His brother had already been infected.

If the undead had waited even a few more seconds, the boy would have transformed completely.

Immediately, the anger disappeared from the young man’s face, replaced by fear and realization as he stared at the corpse.

"Thank you..."

But the undead was already gone, moving toward another target.

In another location, a couple desperately held their two children between them.

The children were trembling violently, black veins already visible beneath their pale skin.

"Please!"

The mother cried.

"Help us!"

The father tightened his arms around them.

"Don’t touch them! They’re still our children!"

One of the children suddenly convulsed as a black tendril pushed through his stomach.

Before it could reach the father, an undead soldier rushed forward and then...

Slash!

The tendril fell to the ground and once again, the blade flashed.

Slash!

The infected child’s head separated from his body and the mother screamed, but the undead immediately turned toward the second child.

"Wait!"

The father reached out desperately.

The second blade fell.

Slash!

Silence.

For a moment, the parents stared at the two bodies in horror. Before they could process the loss of their two children, black substance began forcing its way beneath the children’s skin.

The father slowly lowered his head and saw it. He wanted to blame the undead for killing his children, scream at them but the reality before him made him quiet.

The undead had not killed their children out of cruelty but they had prevented their children from turning into the terrifying monster they once feared.

Before the couple could say anything, the undead had already moved on.

Throughout the street, the same scene continued.

Among the scattered corpses, the undead would suddenly stop, pull an apparently lifeless body from beneath the others, and strike without hesitation.

Some victims had only just been infected.

Others were already showing the first signs of transformation.

None were given the opportunity to turn.

A police officer lying beneath several bodies suddenly opened his eyes as an undead kicked the corpses away.

His face was still human, but a black line had already reached his neck.

The officer looked up.

"Please..."

Before he could even complete his statement, the blade descended like an imperial judgment. His head separated cleanly from his body, and a second later, black tendrils burst from the corpse.

People watched in amazement as the undead fished out the infected out of the ordinary people before they even showed any sign.

And this left many amazed.

As for the four undead soldiers, they continued their grim work, moving from one infected person to another with ruthless efficiency.

The number of creatures on the street rapidly decreased at visible speed..

For the first time since the nightmare began many could finally breathe a sigh of relief and relaxed their tensed nerves.

But at the far end of the street, where the lights barely reached, three figures had been watching everything from within the shadows.

They wore long black robes with their hoods pulled over their heads, concealing their faces.

One of them slowly clenched his fists.

"Dammit it!"

Another stared at the four undead before his eyes moved to Thoren.

"That bell..."

The third figure’s eyes remained fixed on Thoren, his heart pounding in trepidation.

"What should we do?"

"We leave."

"We report this to the leader immediately."

The three figures began retreating into the shadows.

The appearance of Thoren had completely disrupted the situation, and remaining here any longer would only expose them.

The three figures were almost swallowed by the darkness when they suddenly stopped.

A terrifying sensation swept through their bodies and instantly their muscles stiffened.

Their surrounding air seemed to become heavier.

Slowly, they turned around and across the blood-soaked street, Thoren stood motionless.

He was no longer watching the undead as his eyes were fixed directly on them.

The three figures froze.

For the first time, the hatred in their eyes disappeared, replaced by unease.

Thoren’s gaze remained cold and unwavering.

He had sensed them long before they tried to leave. The three figures remained silent as they watched him take a step forward toward them.
