The three hooded figures raced through the narrow alley, their footsteps striking against the concrete ground as they desperately tried to put as much distance between themselves and Thoren as possible.

Their breathing had become heavy, their chests rising and falling rapidly while their hearts pounded against their ribs.

Tension gripped them from inside out, making every passing second feel like a struggle.

They had not expected this.

They had watched Thoren from the shadows, believing that the chaos spreading through Glimmer District would give them enough cover to move freely.

Even when he appeared, they had never imagined that he would identify them so quickly, much less send his undead after them.

"Faster!" One of them shouted.

Their robes brushed against the walls as they passed. There was no need to look back as they could already hear them.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The heavy footsteps of the undead continued behind them, growing closer with every passing second.

Thoren alone did not chase them.

He had no reason to.

Two of the four undead servants had already taken up the pursuit, while the remaining two stayed behind to continue dealing with the infected creatures throughout the district.

The two undead moved through the alley with a speed and balance that completely contradicted the clumsiness commonly associated with undead.

They vaulted over obstacles, turned corners without slowing, and adjusted their movements immediately whenever the three figures changed direction.

They chased them like sharks that had smelled blood. And indeed, they were sharks that had smelled blood.

The two undead had already locked onto their targets.

There was nowhere for them to hide.

One of the hooded figures glanced over his shoulder and pupils contracted.

The undead were still chasing them and worse, they were close.

Very close.

"How are they still following us?"

He could barely get the words out between breaths.

"They’re undead!"

The figure beside him gritted his teeth.

"They shouldn’t be this fast!"

The first figure said nothing as he already knew that something was wrong.

They had changed directions repeatedly.

They had entered several different alleys, crossed through narrow streets, and even doubled back once to confuse them.

Yet, the undead continued to follow them without hesitation. It was as though they knew exactly where they were.

Behind them, the sound of approaching footsteps became heavier.

Thud! Thud! Thud!

The gap continued to shrink.

The three figures pushed themselves harder, but fear had already begun to take control of their bodies.

Meanwhile, Thoren’s footsteps remained completely different.

He walked through the ruined street at an ordinary pace, his expression showing no concern whatsoever.

He did not believe they could escape from him.

With his current perception, the three figures could forget about escaping his senses simply by running through a few streets.

His perception had already reached a level where hiding was almost meaningless. But that was not even the greatest problem facing them.

Thoren had the Vorlath Blood Compass.

The moment its blood-red eye had locked onto the three figures, they had already been marked.

Even if they managed to disappear from his sight, the compass would continue to point toward them.

Even if they hid among hundreds of people, the mark would remain.

The three hooded figures, however, did not know that.

After running for several minutes with Thoren and his undead right on their heels, their confidence had completely disappeared.

"We need to do something..." The first figure gasped, his voice filled with urgency.

"We can’t allow this to continue or else..."

His voice trailed off, but the other two already knew the implication behind his words. If they were caught, they could not guarantee that they would survive.

More importantly, they could not allow Thoren to question them.

"We need somewhere to hide."

The second figure looked around desperately. The alley opened into a wider street ahead, but there were still no suitable places to disappear.

Then the third figure suddenly noticed something in the distance.

His eyes brightened.

"That building."

The other two followed his gaze.

A twenty-story building stood at the end of the street, its massive structure rising above the surrounding buildings. Despite the destruction around it, most of its exterior remained intact.

The third figure’s expression changed.

"Let’s leave the street." He pointed toward the building.

"Into the building. I don’t believe he can track us among the dozens of rooms inside the building."

The other two immediately understood his plan.

Their eyes brightened.

"Good idea."

"If we can get inside, we can lose them."

Without wasting another second, the three figures changed direction and rushed toward the twenty-story building.

Their footsteps became faster as desperation gave them another burst of strength. The entrance was still some distance away, but they could already see the large glass doors ahead.

The three figures rushed through the entrance and disappeared into the building.

The glass doors swung behind them and for a brief moment, silence returned to the street.

The two undead arrived a couple of seconds later. They stopped before the entrance and their heads slowly turned toward the building.

They simply stood there, waiting. Then Thoren appeared at the end of the street.

His steps were still casual and calm, without any hint of worry.

He approached the building at the same steady pace he had maintained throughout the chase, his eyes fixed on the entrance where the three figures had disappeared.

Thoren glanced at them before looking at the twenty-story building.

He could already sense where his prey had gone.

His Perception stretched through the surrounding area, quietly sweeping across the structure.

At the same time, the Vorlath Blood Compass remained in his hand.

Its blood-red eye was wide open.

The eye slowly shifted.

Slowly, a faint predatory smile appeared on Thoren’s lips. Without hesitation, he walked toward the glass entrance door.
