Miao Tianhe remained silent for several seconds, still processing everything Mu Yaochen had told him.

Tianhe finally stood and bowed respectfully. "I would be thankful for Senior Mu’s guidance."

Mu Yaochen nodded with satisfaction. "Good, I will train you personally for now and we can hold the formal disciple recognition ceremony later."

His attention then shifted toward Ruan Mei and the amusement in his expression faded slightly. "As for you, there is considerably less for me to uncover."

Ruan Mei gave him a tired smile. "I expected that."

"S-rank talent Heart of Mana an exceptional talent that should have given you extraordinary mana affinity and control, except you were diagnosed with a serious heart condition shortly after awakening."

Mu Yaochen tapped one finger against the armrest.

"Using the talent placed too much strain upon your heart, so your family had it sealed before the damage became irreversible. Quite unfortunate, especially considering how compatible the talent was with you."

Ruan Mei remained quiet, though her smile weakened slightly.

Mu Yaochen continued watching her. "Yet somehow, that did not stop you from becoming an Awakener."

His next words finally changed her expression. "Dual B-rank talent, Titan Physique."

Xingluo turned toward Ruan Mei in surprise, even Miao Tianhe raised an eyebrow, while Wuxia examined her more carefully from beside Xingluo.

Ruan Mei simply released a helpless breath, apparently unsurprised that another of her secrets had already been uncovered. "You really investigated everything, Senior."

"I prefer knowing who is entering my academy."

Ruan Mei looked away briefly before giving another tired smile. "I am just a family toy, you know, Senior, they made sure every useful thing about me was recorded somewhere."

The casual way she said it made Xingluo’s expression tighten.

Mu Yaochen leaned against his chair and studied her for another moment.

"I know enough about your family to understand why you ran away and enough about your condition to know that sealing the Heart of Mana was probably necessary at the time."

He paused before adding, "But necessary does not mean permanent."

Ruan Mei’s tired expression finally shifted but Mu Yaochen raised one hand before she could ask anything.

"Do not get excited yet, I said there are not many ways to help you, not that there are none."

Mu Yaochen finally turned toward Xingluo, and the curiosity that had faded while examining Ruan Mei immediately returned.

"Now for the most interesting one."

Xingluo straightened slightly as his gaze settled upon her.

Mu Yaochen leaned forward with an amused expression. "So, little girl, are you going to tell me anything yourself? I am genuinely unsure where I should even begin with you."

"You can ask whatever you want, Senior."

Mu Yaochen chuckled. "Then let us start with the obvious one, what exactly is that mark on your forehead?"

Xingluo instinctively raised one hand and touched the transformed mark. "It appeared when my talent evolved, Senior. I do not really know much more about it."

Mu Yaochen looked directly into her eyes. "Really?"

A faint nervousness ran through Xingluo, but she kept her expression steady and nodded.

"Really."

Mu Yaochen watched her for another moment before leaning back against his chair.

"Well, well... if you say so."

He did not press the matter further, though the slight smile on his face made Xingluo doubt that he actually believed her. "Then show me this evolved talent of yours, something simple will do."

Xingluo raised one hand and drew upon Celestial Creation.

Silver-gold Star Energy gathered above her palm before slowly taking shape and within few breaths it condensed into a small dagger with a simple handle and clean metal-like surface.

During the past few days, Xingluo had experimented with the ability whenever she found time.

She could now create several ordinary objects, and unlike temporary mana constructs, they remained even after she stopped supplying them with Star Energy.

The ability still seemed somewhat impractical to both her and Wuxia, complicated creations consumed too much Star Energy, while the weapons she produced were nowhere near the quality of proper equipment.

Xingluo handed the dagger across the table, Mu Yaochen accepted it and immediately began examining the surface, edge and internal structure with far more interest than she expected.

Several seconds passed before he looked back at her. "Would you mind if I kept this?"

Xingluo blinked before quickly shaking her head. "Of course not, Senior it is not anything valuable."

"Good."

Mu Yaochen closed his hand and the dagger disappeared into his storage space.

He settled back into his seat before looking at Xingluo once again, the curiosity in his eyes becoming even stronger.

"Now, now... you are not going to stop at the boring part, are you?"

Xingluo’s expression stiffened slightly.

Mu Yaochen smiled. "Show me the most interesting thing about you."

His gaze moved briefly toward the empty space beside her. "That summon... and the so-called Companion Spirit attached to your talent."

Xingluo released a quiet sigh, knowing there was little point in trying to hide everything after coming this far.

She raised one hand, and Wuxia summoned Varkhiel through their connection.

Dark soul power gathered beside her before condensing into the familiar black-armoured figure. Varkhiel appeared with his greatsword lowered at his side, the dim red light beneath his helmet immediately settling upon Mu Yaochen.

The Vice Dean stood almost as soon as Varkhiel finished forming.

He appeared beside the Soul Sentinel without warning and slowly circled around him, examining the armour, soul structure and energy moving beneath it with obvious interest.

At first, his expression remained amused but then the smile upon his face gradually became harder to read.

Mu Yaochen raised one hand and placed it directly against Varkhiel’s shoulder.

Wuxia’s expression changed, his Soul Soldiers were not ordinary physical summons, yet Mu Yaochen’s hand met the black armour as naturally as though Varkhiel possessed a living body.

The Soul Sentinel reacted instinctively and tried to pull away, but Mu Yaochen’s fingers remained resting against his shoulder without shifting even slightly.

After several seconds, he finally released him and returned to the sofa. "Well, little girl, hiding things from your elders is not a particularly good habit."

Xingluo stiffened slightly.

Mu Yaochen leaned back with the same unreadable smile. "But I suppose you are only making yourself more interesting."

Wuxia stood beside Xingluo and released a quiet sigh.

Fooling him was never going to be easy, he is one of the few Level 1000 existences ranked among the strongest humans in the Alliance.

His gaze remained upon Mu Yaochen.

We should probably be grateful he did not notice me directly.

Mu Yaochen did not continue questioning Xingluo.

"That is enough for today, the sophomore classes are suspended for the next three days because most of the year has gone out on a field expedition."

He looked across Xingluo, Ruan Mei and Miao Tianhe.

"You three can use that time to familiarise yourselves with the academy and settle into your dormitories. Your class schedules and several other documents will be sent to you later."

Mu Yaochen gestured toward the door. "You may leave now, I still have some things to discuss with Liang and Ming Hao."

The three bowed politely before following Shou Tong out of the office.

Once the building was behind them, the guard released a long breath and started leading them back toward the main academy streets.

Xingluo glanced over her shoulder before speaking through the Anchor Link.

How old is that Vice Dean anyway?

Wuxia laughed quietly.

Do not let his face confuse you, Mu Yaochen is at least several centuries old relic.

Xingluo nearly looked back again.

Several centuries?

Professor Liang is practically a child compared to him. I am more surprised that Mu Yaochen knows both him and Ming Hao personally.

Wuxia’s attention shifted toward the disappearing residence.

Professor Liang really does hide quite a lot.

Before Xingluo could respond, Shou Tong suddenly changed direction and called toward someone walking along the nearby path.

"Ji Xiaorou!"

A girl with bubblegum-pink hair stopped and looked up from the book in her hands. Thin glasses rested across her nose, and a piece of gum moved slowly between her teeth as she stared at him in confusion.

"Uncle Shou?"

Shou Tong reached her before she could ask anything else.

"Perfect timing, I have some work to deal with, so take these three around the academy and show them where their dormitories are."

He handed several passes toward her, Ji Xiaorou looked at the cards, then at Xingluo, Ruan Mei and Miao Tianhe before turning back toward him.

"What work?"

Shou Tong ignored the question and lowered his voice slightly. "I will overlook you sneaking out once."

Her expression changed immediately but before she could answer, he turned toward Xingluo and the others.

"I brought you here safely and showed you the important parts of the academy and an old man deserves some rest after doing that much."

The three stared at him and shou Tong disappeared.

Xingluo’s cheek twitched as she looked toward the place where he had been standing.

It was obvious that the man simply had no interest in spending the next few hours showing three new students around the academy.

Their attention slowly shifted toward their remaining guide.

Ji Xiaorou still stood there holding the passes, apparently just as confused by the situation as they were.
