God-Tier Awakening: The Dead Can Still Level Up
Chapter 99: Dragon Military academyThe mana-powered vehicle continued flying through Golden Dragon City as the bustling districts gradually gave way to a quieter area toward the northern end of the city.
Several minutes later, an enormous fortress-like academy appeared before them.
High black walls surrounded the entire complex, while countless buildings could be seen rising beyond them. Even from this distance, the academy carried an imposing presence unlike anything Xingluo had seen before.
The vehicle gradually descended and landed within the spacious square outside the main entrance.
As everyone stepped outside, Xingluo slowly raised her head, above the massive academy gates hung an ancient black plaque upon which three bold characters had been carved.
Dragon Military Academy.
Even Ruan Mei and Miao Tianhe could not completely hide the awe in their eyes, the man who had accompanied them from the teleportation hall stepped forward.
"Follow me."
Professor Liang nodded before leading the three of them across the entrance square.
Several academy guards standing before the gates stepped forward and politely stopped them.
The man exchanged a few quiet words with the guards before handing over his identification token. After confirming his identity, they immediately straightened and saluted.
"The Vice Dean informed us that you would be arriving, Sir Ming," one of them said. "Please follow me."
The guard led them through the academy gates, and Xingluo soon understood why the complex had appeared so vast from outside.
Broad streets ran between towering academic buildings, training fields and residential areas, while students and instructors moved continuously between them. The academy was large enough to resemble an independent city hidden within Golden Dragon City.
They continued toward the central district before leaving the busier streets and entering a secluded area surrounded by trees. At its end stood a large independent building that looked more like a private residence than an office.
Two people were training in the open yard outside.
A broad-shouldered young man repeatedly punched a dark stone block covered in shallow dents, while a girl several metres away practised with a longsword. Her movements remained controlled and precise as the blade cut through the air.
Both stopped when the group approached.
The guard stepped forward. "Where is your teacher?"
The girl lowered her sword and gestured toward the building. "Master is inside, he threw us out because he wanted to conduct another experiment without anyone disturbing him."
She had barely finished speaking when a violent explosion shook the entire residence.
The ground jumped beneath their feet as the doors and windows burst open, releasing thick green and purple smoke across the yard.
The girl closed her eyes and pressed one hand against her forehead. Beside her, the young man looked toward the damaged building with a tired smile, while the guard’s expression showed that none of this surprised him.
Xingluo glanced between them in confusion but then a figure suddenly rushed through the smoke with flames covering his hair and shoulders. He crossed the yard in several hurried steps before throwing himself into the pond beside the residence.
Steam rose from the water and several seconds later, the man stood and swept the wet hair away from his face.
Despite his current condition, his features were unusually handsome and he appeared no older than someone in his early thirties.
He first looked toward his disciples before noticing the guard. "Why are you here, Shou Tong?"
His gaze shifted toward the others, and recognition quickly replaced the annoyance across his face.
"Oh, Liang and Ming Hao is here as well." A wide smile appeared as he climbed from the pond. "It was about time."
He snapped his fingers, the soaked and partially burned clothes disappeared, replaced by an immaculate dark robe.
His hair dried and returned to its original state as he appeared directly before them without taking another step.
Xingluo lowered her eyes before the laughter escaped her, while Ruan Mei and Miao Tianhe stared at the man with a mixture of shock and respect.
Professor Liang examined him briefly before shaking his head.
"Your titles are still well deserved, Senior Mu Yaochen. The Witch Doctor and Drunken Immortal of the Alliance appears to have suffered another failure."
Mu Yaochen coughed and adjusted one sleeve as though nothing unusual had happened.
"It was a minor miscalculation nothing worth discussing, let us speak inside my office."
He turned toward the two disciples, who had already begun looking far too pleased with his embarrassment.
"Add another ten thousand repetitions to your training."
The satisfaction vanished from both their faces.
"Master—"
Mu Yaochen gave them a single look, cutting off their complaints before either could finish.
"If you still have enough energy to laugh, you clearly have not trained enough."
He clicked his fingers again and space folded around Xingluo and the others before the courtyard disappeared from sight.
Space folded around them for a brief moment before the surroundings changed.
The courtyard disappeared, replaced by a spacious office lined with overflowing bookshelves, strange herbs, scattered research notes and countless bottles containing liquids of every imaginable colour.
Mu Yaochen casually walked toward a sofa before turning to examine the three newcomers.
A smile slowly appeared on his face. "Well, well... quite an interesting group."
His gaze first settled on Xingluo. "A little girl whose supposedly evolved C-rank talent somehow became an S-rank."
His eyes shifted toward Miao Tianhe. "A young man who deliberately concealed his real talent assessment for years."
Finally, he looked at Ruan Mei. "And a runaway little tramp."
The three of them immediately stiffened, embarrassed smiles appeared on Xingluo, Miao Tianhe and Ruan Mei’s faces as none of them dared respond before the Vice Dean.
Wuxia watched the scene from beside Xingluo before quietly chuckling.
The last few days were exhausting, but I have to admit... this is much more entertaining.
Xingluo shot him a silent glare.
She did not dare say anything aloud, standing before someone like Mu Yaochen, she had no idea whether speaking mentally might somehow expose Wuxia’s existence.
Professor Liang shook his head with a helpless smile. "They may have their own secrets, Senior, but I can assure you all three are good children."
Mu Yaochen laughed and waved his hand dismissively.
"Relax Liang, if I intended to investigate them, I would have done so long before you arrived."
He casually leaned back in his chair. "Their admission procedures were completed yesterday, by the time you reached the academy, everything had already been approved."
His smile became slightly more amused as he looked at the three of them again. "So today, we can simply have a proper conversation."
Mu Yaochen’s gaze lingered upon the three newcomers before settling upon Miao Tianhe.
"You first," he said. "What is your actual talent?"
Tianhe hesitated briefly before answering. "The assessment identified it as the Martial Saint Physique."
The relaxed expression upon Mu Yaochen’s face disappeared.
Professor Liang and Ming Hao also turned toward Tianhe, while Xingluo noticed the surprise in their eyes and understood that the name carried far more weight than she realised.
Mu Yaochen leaned forward. "Repeat that."
"Martial Saint Physique," Tianhe said. "It was assessed as S-rank, but I have never been able to use it properly."
He paused before continuing, slightly uncomfortable beneath the Vice Dean’s attention.
"The talent was undocumented when I awakened, my family was also dealing with several internal conflicts at the time, so my father concealed the original assessment and registered a weaker talent instead."
Mu Yaochen stared at him for several breaths before suddenly slapping one hand against his thigh.
"You foolish boy."
Tianhe stiffened.
"You possessed a one-of-a-kind battle talent and spent all these years treating it like an ordinary physical enhancement."
Mu Yaochen stood and walked around him once, examining him as though he had discovered a rare experimental material. "The Martial Saint Physique does not grant a fixed collection of skills, it is a body born to comprehend battle itself."
Tianhe frowned slightly. "What does that mean?"
"It means your physique learns whenever you fight."
Mu Yaochen stopped before him and tapped two fingers against his chest. "Movement, timing, force distribution, weapon control and the rhythm of an opponent’s attacks are all recorded by your body."
"With proper training, techniques that require others years to understand could become instinctive to you after repeated combat."
Tianhe looked down at his hands, he had always learned weapon arts faster than the people around him and improved most rapidly after difficult battles, but he had attributed those changes to experience and constant training.
Mu Yaochen laughed when he noticed his expression.
"You have felt it before, haven’t you? The longer a battle continues, the clearer everything becomes. Movements that troubled you at first gradually become easier to read, while techniques that once felt unfamiliar begin fitting naturally into your body."
Tianhe slowly nodded. "I thought that was only battle instinct."
"That instinct is merely the surface."
Mu Yaochen’s smile widened as he placed one hand upon Tianhe’s shoulder. "The Martial Saint Physique was made for battle, you have simply never received training capable of awakening its true potential."
His grip tightened with sudden enthusiasm. "Become my disciple."
Tianhe looked at him in surprise.
Mu Yaochen continued before he could answer. "You will have a senior brother strong enough to train with you, proper access to the academy’s combat grounds and a master who understands how to develop uncommon physiques."
Tianhe glanced toward Professor Liang, uncertain how to respond to the offer arriving so suddenly.
Mu Yaochen raised an eyebrow. "Why are you looking at him? I am the one offering to teach you."
"I understand, Senior." Tianhe returned his gaze to him. "But I only learned the name recorded during my awakening, I still do not understand what the physique truly is or why you recognise it."
Mu Yaochen’s excitement eased slightly. "The complete explanation will require more than a few sentences, what matters for now is that your talent has not been wasted beyond recovery."
He released Tianhe’s shoulder and returned to his seat. "You suppressed it for years, but you continued fighting and training throughout that time, the foundation remains inside you."
Mu Yaochen looked at him again, his amusement replaced by rare seriousness.
"The question is whether you are willing to rebuild everything you learned around the physique you were born with."
