The terrifying flames burned all the remaining spirit bamboos and pear trees to ash.
In the end, the beautiful, fairyland-like Grotto-Heaven ceased to exist, only a desolate wasteland of ashes remained.
The spirit bamboos and pear trees hadn’t put up the slightest resistance, not even a single ripple.
Accompanied by the fading multicolored radiant light, the terrifying giant maw finally vanished into the sky.
Heavenly Void Mystic Realm, the Nova Imperial Clan.
Patriarch Damion sat in his study, his face terrifyingly gloomy, spread before him were battle reports from the various regions of the Demon Extermination Alliance.
The situation in most places was still manageable, but the Eastern Continent looked exceedingly grim.
The Demon Race’s grand army had broken through the final defense line, launching a full-scale invasion directly into the Eastern Continent’s territory, worse still, the garrison, originally hundreds of thousands strong, unexpectedly had only about 100,000 troops remaining.
The battle reports in Damion’s hands seemed to grow physically heavy, pressing down on his chest until he could barely breathe.
As Patriarch of the Nova Imperial Clan, he deeply understood the staggering impact of this defeat.
For the Demon Extermination Alliance, it was a catastrophic failure, and as Alliance Leader, he would inevitably bear the brunt of the pressure.
To make matters worse, he couldn’t even shift the blame onto anyone else, because the Commander of the Eastern Continent garrison had already perished in mutually assured destruction with a Demon Race general.
This left him extremely furious.
Die? Why did he have to die? With you dead, who am I supposed to use as a scapegoat?!
He clenched his fists tightly, then ultimately released them in helpless frustration.
Damion took a deep breath and glanced out the window, the winds of change were howling and the situation was volatile, he had to formulate a countermeasure, he had to find a way to salvage this disaster.
The atmosphere in the study was so oppressive it was suffocating.
Damion closed his eyes tightly, as if pondering something deeply, and slowly spat out two words. "Heavenly Court!"
Just then, a light knock came from the study door.
A guard of the Nova Imperial Clan walked in and bowed respectfully. "Patriarch, I have an important matter to report."
Damion opened his eyes and said indifferently, "Speak."
"The Tempest Clan, Dawn Clan, Vesper Clan, as well as the West Clan and Drake Clan from the Mysterious Yellow Great World... representatives from all the major clans have arrived seeking an audience with you, Patriarch!" The guard remained bowed, not even daring to glance at Damion, he knew the Patriarch was in a terrible mood.
Hearing this, Damion frowned deeply, for these clans to come at a time like this, they obviously wanted to probe the Nova Imperial Clan’s stance, he waved his hand, dismissing the guard, then stood up, his eyes narrowing.
He knew the scale and intensity of this Demon Race invasion were entirely unprecedented.
The Demon Extermination Alliance had been pushed into a desperate corner, although the other defense lines outside the Eastern Continent were holding, that was only because of the Heavenly Court’s assistance, and one couldn’t forget their name, the Demon Extermination Alliance.
Merely defending wasn’t going to cut it, they had to take the initiative and attack if they wanted to truly drive the Demon Race out of the Heavenly Void Mystic Realm, however, the current reality was far from optimistic.
Although the Heavenly Court was powerful, they couldn’t keep stepping in indefinitely, otherwise, an even more terrifying direct war would likely erupt between the Heavenly Court and the Demon Race, and that was a scenario none of them wanted to see.
Therefore, they had to quickly find a countermeasure, a way to defeat the Demon Race on their own.
Damion’s gaze flickered.
Finally, he took a deep breath and walked out of his study.
At a critical juncture like this, he could no longer sit idly by, he had to step forward, lead the Nova Imperial Clan, lead the Demon Extermination Alliance, and unite them to fight against the Demon Race.
Soon, Damion arrived at the grand hall of the Nova Imperial Clan.
The hall was already filled with numerous clan representatives, they were all patriarchs or clan heads of the major factions, upon seeing Damion walk in, standard etiquette dictated that they should have saluted, or at the very least offered a formal greeting, yet none of the patriarchs stood up, they remained seated, entirely motionless.
The Patriarch of the Tempest Clan in particular had eyes that were terrifyingly dark and profound.
The commander of the Eastern Continent garrison had been the Vice Patriarch of their Tempest Clan, however, he wasn’t in a rush to speak, he wanted to see what the Nova Clan had to say first.
Damion naturally knew these people were intentionally showing their displeasure, but there was nothing he could do, as the leader of the Demon Extermination Alliance, with such a catastrophe occurring under his watch, he could hardly absolve himself of blame.
However, Damion was a seasoned, sly veteran, he pretended not to notice their little display of attitude, his gaze swept across the crowd as he spoke in a deep voice. "Everyone, I am sure you have all seen the current situation."
The crowd remained stubbornly silent.
Seeing this, Damion continued. "I know the current situation is highly disadvantageous for us."
"The slightest misstep could plunge the entire Heavenly Void Mystic Realm into eternal damnation, but we cannot give up because of this."
"We cannot allow the Demon Race to run rampant across our lands, we cannot let the lives on our soil be plunged into suffering and ruin."
"Therefore, I have decided that we must take the initiative and launch a counterattack against the Demon Race!"
The crowd was momentarily stunned before bursting into a flurry of discussion.
Take the initiative to attack? Did they truly have the capability? If they could, they would have long since marched out and toppled the Demon Race’s stronghold! But they simply couldn’t! They were struggling to death just trying to defend!
Seeing the crowd’s reaction, which was well within his expectations, Damion said calmly, "I know you might feel our current situation is highly disadvantageous, but we cannot give up because of..."
"Patriarch Damion, wait, let’s not discuss these meaningless things first." The Tempest Clan Patriarch abruptly interrupted Damion’s speech.
