A Warm Reunion at the Taylor Mansion
Packing up their campsite, the three took a final look at the peaceful valley below them.
The small campfire that they’d built previously has long since faded out, the warmth that it produced has only remained as a faint emanation on the surrounding stones.
Leon smiled.
"It was a nice spot."
Selena nodded.
"It really was."
Rias threw her hands up in the air before sighing with contentment.
"I don’t want to leave."
Leon let out a chuckle.
" If we get the chance, we can always return later on."
The two women’s faces lit up with smiles.
"Then it’s a promise."
Leon chuckled as he nodded.
"It’s a promise."
As soon as Leon finished his statement, he brought out his right hand into the air.
A gentle ripple of Mana flowed out from him.
A soft light spread over the three of them.
The dregs of yesterday’s battle vanished instantaneously and their robes went back to it’s original neat condition, leaving no traces of fatigue or other wear that has gathered upon it.
Rias blinked twice before commenting.
"I will never get used to this..."
Selena looked down at her sleeves and smiled.
"Traveling has become much more convenient."
Leon chuckled at her statement.
"It sure saved us a lot of hassle."
Without another word, the three figures soared into the sky.
The wind flew past their faces, forests, rivers, and mountains disappeared below as they continued moving onward.
It took almost an hour until Ashford City could finally be seen on the horizon.
The bustling streets below grew more obvious and distinguishable each second.
Smokestacks continuously puffed out smoke from numberous kitchens.
Merchants yelled out to boast their merchandise.
Children were chasing one another in the marketplace with high spirited screams.
Everything has begun returning to normal.
The three figures landed right outside the city gates as Leon led the way for Selena and Rias into the bustling city.
Soon, they were noticed by a lot of people.
"Isn’t that the purple sword monarch Leon?"
"He has returned!"
"The young sword monarch has returned!"
The trio of people were each stared at with gazes of respect.
Leon just smiled and continued on his way to the Taylor Mansion.
Shortly after...
They reached the familiar manor, which once again filled up with servants rushing about carrying medicine, food, and buckets of water.
Harrier Taylor was nervously pacing outside of the mansion’s entrance.
He breathed a great sigh of relief when his eyes fell upon Leon.
"Respectable division leader Leon!""You’ve finally returned!"
Leon smiled.
"How is Harry?"
Harrier let out another sigh.
"He’s... Um..."
Before Harrier could finish his sentence, a powerful voice boomed out from the mansion’s interior.
"Senior!"Bang!
The door of Harry’s room burst open, and Harry Taylor came rushing out, ignoring all of the servants attempting to obstruct him. He instantly charged at Leon and proceeded to grab his chest dramatically.
"Senior!""You’ve finally returned!"
"I thought I was going to die!"
Leon took a good look at Harry. His complexion was rosy, his breathing was steady, and his entire being was brimming with energy. There was absolutely no hint of any injury anywhere on him.
Without another word-Smack!
Leon lightly rapped the back of Harry’s head.
"Ouch!"
Harry whined as he clutched the back of his head.
"What was that for?"
Leon crossed his arms.
"You seem to have quite a bit of energy, don’t you? If you can yell like that, you’re obviously okay."
Harry chuckled awkwardly.
"Hehe..."
"I may have exaggerated a bit."
"A bit?"
Harrier raised his eyebrows in a fit of rage as he quickly grabbed his son’s ear and yelled at him, "You little brat! You scared your old father half to death!"
Harry immediately cried out, " Father! It hurts! I am your only son, treat me gently!"
"Only now you remember? When you were pretending to be at death’s door, did you once ever think about how worried everyone was?"
Harry bowed his head sheepishly in reply, "...no."
Harrier sighed defeatedly before loosening his grip.
"You really have no shame."
All the surrounding servants suppressed their laughter, while even Selena held her hand over her mouth to stifle a smile. Rias even burst out laughing.
"You really got them all fooled."
Harry scratched the back of his head.
"I just wanted a couple more days to rest."
Leon chuckled as he shook his head.
"So your great plan was to feign unconsciousness?"
Harry grinned.
"It sounded like a solid plan at the time."
Leon raised an eyebrow.
"It really wasn’t.""That is true."
Everybody exploded with laughter again. The somber mood that had been enveloping the Taylor Mansion for days finally lifted completely as genuine smiles appeared in every nook and cranny of the entire estate. Observing this happy scene, Leon smiled to himself.
Sometimes...
The greatest prize to receive after battling unending wars was never another hard fought victory. It was rather seeing everyone around you laugh together again. Knowing that Harry was completely fine, Leon finally released the breath he has been unconsciously holding within him. His lips curled into a faint smile and he lightly shook his head, Harry’s previous dramatic performance nearly fooled everyone of them in the Taylor Mansion.
Harrier Taylor, meanwhile, looked both relieved and exasperated.
"You little punk," he muttered with a heavy voice, giving Harry another light smack on the shoulder. "You had this entire mansion worrying for nothing."
