The Prince’s Investigation
Little by little, Lord James tried to determine Leon’s identity.
He must be a young master from a certain household.
That much seemed obvious.
Perhaps he had some background, but probably not enough to threaten the Drake Empire.
Otherwise, why would he behave so arrogantly?
Lord James’s thoughts began to settle.
The more he considered it, the more convinced he became of his own judgment. The young man before him did not carry himself like an ordinary cultivator, but that did not necessarily mean he possessed an overwhelming background. There were plenty of wealthy young masters who possessed treasures, attendants, and impressive cultivation resources simply because their households had given them everything they wanted.
Perhaps Leon was one of them.
Lord James’s pride slowly returned.
He turned his head toward Cavir Walton.
"Shopkeeper Situ, what do you mean?"
The displeasure in Lord James’s voice was impossible to conceal.
From the moment Cavir Walton had entered, he had barely acknowledged him. Instead, he had immediately rushed toward Leon, apologizing repeatedly and carefully trying to appease him.
Lord James watched the scene with growing irritation.
He was a prince.
A member of the royal family of the Drake Empire.
Could he really be worse than some unknown brat?
Had Cavir Walton become stupid from doing business for too many years?
Instead of currying favor with him, a prince, he was fawning over a young man whose identity was still unknown.
What kind of joke was this?
Cavir Walton’s expression changed slightly when he heard Lord James speak first.
He had originally wanted to calm Leon down and explain the situation to him. He had hoped to settle everything quietly before the matter escalated any further.
But Lord James had taken the initiative to jump out.
There was no choice.
Cavir Walton could only deal with him first.
He turned around, forcing himself to maintain a respectful expression despite the frustration churning inside him.
"Lord James, I’m really sorry. There are already distinguished guests from the Whitelist Restaurant sitting in this Heaven-class private room. Please move to another private room."
His tone was polite.
His attitude was humble.
But his meaning was unmistakably firm.
Please leave.
The instant those words were spoken, Lord James’s face darkened.
He had expected Cavir Walton to give him some face.
At the very least, he had expected the manager of the Whitelist Restaurant to hesitate before rejecting a member of the royal family.
Instead, Cavir Walton had refused him directly.
Not only that, he had done so in front of Leon.
Lord James’s eyes narrowed.
He had never expected Cavir Walton to be so decisive.
What kind of background did Leon possess?
What could possibly make Cavir Walton curry favor with him to this extent?
A trace of caution returned to Lord James’s heart.
He knew Cavir Walton quite well.
Cavir Walton had managed the Whitelist Restaurant in Ashford City for many years. He had met all kinds of people during that time—wealthy merchants, powerful cultivators, influential households, and even important figures from major sects.
Yet Lord James had never seen him behave this humbly toward anyone.
Not like this.
Not to the point where he seemed genuinely afraid of offending someone.
Lord James’s gaze slowly shifted back to Leon.
The young man was still standing there.
His long black hair rested over his shoulders, and the thin amethyst embroidery on his midnight robes shimmered faintly beneath the warm light of the private room.
His purple eyes were calm.
Too calm.
Lord James stared at him deeply.
Leon did not say anything.
He did not need to.
The silence itself seemed to deepen the uncertainty in Lord James’s mind.
For several breaths, the prince simply stood there.
Then he made his decision.
He turned around and walked out of the private room.
His robes swept behind him as he left.
No argument.
No threat.
No further confrontation.
At least, not here.
The moment he stepped beyond the doorway, his expression became cold.
He glanced back once.
His eyes lingered on Leon for a moment before he finally turned away.
As soon as he walked out of the private room, he instructed his follower,
"Go and investigate. Find out where this kid came from. I want to see what’s so special about this guy that even Cavir Walton would lower his voice."
The follower immediately bowed.
"Yes, Your Highness."
Lord James gave the private room one final glance before walking away.
His footsteps gradually disappeared into the noisy corridor.
Inside the Heaven-class private room, the tension slowly faded.
Cavir Walton let out a quiet breath.
Only now did he realize that his palms were damp with sweat.
That had been close.
Far too close.
He turned his attention toward Leon, carefully watching his expression.
Leon, however, looked completely relaxed.
He had watched Cavir Walton finish dealing with the matter without interruption.
A faint smile appeared on his face.
"Rias, are all the princes of Drake like this?"
Rias curled her lips.
Her expression was almost amused.
She had been quiet throughout the confrontation, but now that Lord James had left, she no longer needed to hide her disdain.
"I don’t know. I don’t understand these uncles’ characters. However, Teacher, if you want to deal with him, you don’t have to worry about my feelings. Other than my brother, I’m not familiar with the so-called royal family..."
She paused.
A playful light appeared in her crimson eyes.
Then she added with a mischievous smile,
"It’s good to beat him up. It’s best to beat him up into a pig’s head so that he won’t be arrogant every day."
Selena blinked.
Even she seemed slightly surprised by how casually Rias had sold out her own uncle.
Leon was instantly amused.
This wretched girl.
He couldn’t help but shake his head.
He was your biological uncle.
How could you sell him just like that?
A faint laugh escaped Leon’s lips.
Rias only smiled innocently, as if she had said nothing unusual.
