Gu Sewei was deeply confused by Li Wei’s words.

She didn’t understand what Li Wei meant.

But if it was just a matter of calling Monice back, that was a simple task.

Gu Sewei quickly gave the order, dispatching a soldier to deliver it to Monice.

If the Ice Queen were still around, it wouldn’t have been this much trouble.

The Ice Queen could have easily contacted anyone within the city.

"Alright, Monice should be back in a little while," Gu Sewei said.

Then, she looked at Li Wei with some confusion and asked, "What did you mean just now? Confront her about who the real Rebel Army is? Could there be a fake one?"

Li Wei told Gu Sewei what Ah Di had said.

Gu Sewei looked at him in disbelief. "That’s impossible, isn’t it? Monice... she would never do something like this..."

Li Wei said calmly, "That’s why we need to call her back for a confrontation and see whether it’s true or not. This could also be a smokescreen deliberately released by the enemy."

’He felt that possibility was rather small, though.’

Ah Di’s reaction didn’t seem faked.

Suddenly, Li Wei thought of the people who were on Ah Di’s team.

’What happened to them?’

’If I can find them, I might be able to learn what’s been happening.’

In the meantime, Li Wei looked at Gu Sewei and asked, "Have you noticed anything unusual happening lately?"

Gu Sewei thought for a moment before shaking her head. "I don’t think so. It’s my first time handling the affairs of Fred City, and it feels like there are just a lot of miscellaneous tasks. As for the kind of unusual event you’re talking about, I don’t believe so."

Seeing her response, Li Wei no longer expected to get any useful information from Gu Sewei.

’She probably hasn’t even left the Ice Jade Palace. She’s completely unaware of the situation down in Fred City.’

’Any information she did receive was just second-hand news that had been filtered by Monice.’

’It was all just what Monice wanted her to know.’

Li Wei said, "Wait here for a bit. I’m going down the mountain. Be careful here in the Ice Jade Palace while you’re alone."

Gu Sewei nodded and asked, "What are you going to do?"

Li Wei said, "I’m going to look for some people."

At this, Li Wei suddenly thought of Gu Ze and quickly asked, "Where is Teacher Gu Ze?"

’Monice definitely knows Gu Ze is Gu Sewei’s brother.’

’She might kidnap Gu Ze to threaten Gu Sewei.’

Gu Sewei could hear the worry in Li Wei’s voice. She smiled and said, "My brother is fine. He came to the Ice Jade Palace a while ago. Not long after you went into seclusion, he went into seclusion as well. These matters shouldn’t affect him."

Li Wei breathed a sigh of relief. "That’s good. Let’s not tell Teacher about these things, then. It would only cause him unnecessary trouble."

"Alright, I’m off."

Li Wei left the Ice Jade Palace and walked down the mountain.

As he walked down the steps carved from ice, Li Wei pondered something.

’Why does Monice want to kill Gu Sewei?’

’What is her objective?’

’Without figuring these things out, it’s impossible to understand Monice’s motives.’

WHOOSH!

The cold wind howled past Li Wei’s face, bringing with it a biting chill.

Li Wei came back to his senses and raised his head, looking down at the city below.

The sky was dim, and lights had begun to flicker on within the city, like stars dotting the night sky.

Li Wei stretched out his hand, as if he wanted to grasp the entire city in his palm.

He smiled. ’Does Monice’s objective even matter?’

’Not really.’

’As long as Gu Sewei is safe, that’s all that matters.’

’If Monice is going to be an enemy, then I’ll simply treat her as one.’

’There’s no need to think so much about it.’

When it came to dealing with enemies, Li Wei had always had one method: grind their bones to dust.

Even if Monice had some connection to a Demon God, it wouldn’t stop Li Wei from making his move.

Upon reaching the city at the foot of the mountain, Li Wei noticed the streets were somewhat empty.

He had even run into Xiong Er on his first day in Fred City.

Xiong Er had treated him to a meal, so Li Wei had the chance to wander through the night market once.

Back then, the flow of people on the streets hadn’t been as thin as it was now.

There were barely a few figures in sight.

Li Wei sensed a "panic" pervading the city.

He walked into a restaurant. It was mostly empty, and the few patrons inside all ate with their heads down, not speaking.

The waiter approached and asked in a low voice, "What can I get for you, sir?"

Li Wei ordered a few dishes at random, then sat down and asked, "Has anything been happening in the city lately?"

The waiter gave Li Wei a surprised look, then glanced furtively at the others around them before saying, "They say the Ice Queen has disappeared. A lot of gangs have sprung up in the city with no one to control them. It’s chaos everywhere now. Fewer people are going out to hunt, and food prices have gone up a lot recently."

Li Wei nodded, took out a Gold Coin, and handed it to the waiter.

"Tell me more. In detail."

When the waiter saw the Gold Coin, his eyes lit up.

He quickly took the Gold Coin, wiped it, and even bit it to confirm it was real before carefully tucking it away in a hidden pocket.

Having received a large tip, the waiter unhesitatingly told Li Wei everything he knew.

Half an hour later, Li Wei left the restaurant, having eaten and drunk his fill.

The information bought with a single Gold Coin was well worth the price.

In just half an hour, Li Wei had gotten a clear picture of all the changes that had occurred in Ice and Snow City over the past month.

The origin of everything was the rumor that "the Ice Queen has disappeared."

"BWAHAHAHA! Don’t even think about running! Stop struggling..."

"Sob... Help me!"

A commotion came from not far away, and Li Wei turned his head to look.

Several Beastmen were chasing a human girl. The few people around who saw what was happening quickly averted their eyes and scurried away, none of them willing to help.

Li Wei’s eyes narrowed. ’Has Ice and Snow City already descended into this level of chaos?’

Ice Vine!

CRACKLE! SNAP!

Frost spread and formed into vines, entangling the Beastmen.

The Ice Vines instantly immobilized the Beastmen, rooting them to the spot.

The Beastmen were also frozen by the Ice Vines clinging to them, and they began to shiver violently.

Seeing this, the girl glanced at Li Wei who had helped her, didn’t say a word of thanks, and quickly dove into a dark alley.

The frozen Beastmen stared at Li Wei in terror.

One Dog-headed Orc tried to act tough, saying, "Human, don’t do anything stupid! This is Beastman territory. If you lay a hand on us, Blood Hand will definitely not let you off!"

"Blood Hand? Beastman territory?"

From the waiter’s explanation, Li Wei had a general understanding of the current situation in Ice and Snow City.

The Ice Jade Palace’s control over Ice and Snow City had drastically decreased.

On the surface, the Ice Jade Palace was still the ultimate ruler of Ice and Snow City.

But, in reality, the territory within Ice and Snow City had long been divided up by several large gangs.

Human gangs, Beastman gangs, Dwarf gangs, goblin gangs...

They were, for the most part, divided along racial lines.

With the loss of the Ice Queen’s powerful suppression, conflicts between the different races had erupted violently.

Another factor was the food shortage, forcing everyone to do whatever they could to acquire more.

Food shortage had always been the number one problem of Ice and Snow City.

Even when the Ice Queen was around, the situation was only slightly alleviated; everyone barely had enough to eat.

Now, because of the chaotic situation, the number of Hunters going out to hunt had decreased.

They had also lost access to the Ice Queen’s unique hunting channels.

The constantly dwindling food supply stoked the anxiety in everyone’s hearts.

These were all things that Gu Sewei did not know.

The Ice Jade Palace was detached and otherworldly, unaffected by the city at the foot of the mountain. Staying inside, Gu Sewei couldn’t experience the changes herself.

Li Wei looked at the Dog-headed Orc who had spoken and said, "Take me to see this Blood Hand you mentioned."

The Dog-headed Orc froze on the spot, not expecting the human before him to be so arrogant.

CRACK!

The Ice Vines on their bodies shattered, scattering into chunks of ice on the ground.

After regaining his freedom, the Dog-headed Orc nodded in agreement without a second thought.

"Human, follow me."

Blood Hand was the leader of the largest Beastman Gang in Ice and Snow City.

His name came from the fact that after every kill, both his hands would be stained red with blood.

Over time, he took it as his moniker and even began deliberately dyeing his hands red.

When others saw his blood-red hands, their first reaction was to flee in terror.

Blood Hand’s ego had inflated, and he started to believe he had become the master of Ice and Snow City.

Today, he was in the Blood Hand Gang’s main base, worrying about food.

Compared to the other gangs, his Beastman Gang was the worst at conserving food.

They had absolutely no system for managing food. Whatever they managed to steal was devoured by the gang members within a few days.

This gave Blood Hand a massive headache. He was considering whether to start a war with the goblin’s Fire Cannon Gang to steal some of their stored food and ease the crisis.

BANG!

The main door was kicked open. Blood Hand looked up and saw a human standing in the doorway. Outside, his Beastman underlings were already lying on the ground.

Blood Hand was stunned for a moment, then rage welled up inside him.

"Damn you, human! You’re looking to die!"

Without hesitation, Blood Hand leaped onto the table and lunged at Li Wei.

His strength wasn’t to be underestimated, relying on his Beastman bloodline and his Professional Level as a Warrior.

He was considered one of the stronger Tier Four Professionals.

Unfortunately, the enemy he faced this time was far beyond his league.

BAM!

Blood Hand was sent flying backward even faster than he’d charged, smashing the only table in the room to pieces.

Li Wei lowered his right foot and walked towards Blood Hand.

"COUGH, COUGH, COUGH..."

Blood Hand lay amidst the splinters, blood spraying from his mouth and nose. He felt as if the kick had shattered his bones.

He stared at the human before him in utter terror.

’How could an expert of this caliber appear in my territory?’

Li Wei planted his foot on Blood Hand’s chest, forcing his upper body, which had just begun to push itself up, back onto the floor.

Blood Hand looked up at Li Wei, feeling an immense pressure and a sense of suffocation.

Death was breathing down his neck.

Li Wei looked down at him and smiled. "Answer my questions. If I’m satisfied, I’ll let you go."

Blood Hand swallowed with difficulty and nodded hastily.

"I heard the Blood Hand Gang has ties to the Rebel Army. What’s that all about?"

Blood Hand scrambled to answer, "It was just a tiny, tiny connection with the Rebel Army back when the Blood Hand Gang was first formed! Sure, we burn, kill, and pillage, but we’re good citizens! We would absolutely never collude with the Rebel Army, much less attack a Valkyrie or the Ice and Snow Guardians."

Li Wei stared at him. "The truth."

Cold sweat streamed down Blood Hand’s back. He lowered his eyes and mumbled, "Ah, it’s nothing, really. The Rebel Army just asked me to help with a few things..."
