Golden flames burned in Li Wei’s eyes.
The wounds covering his body, which should have been fatal, had all vanished.
Aguru was stunned for a moment, but he reacted instantly, unhesitatingly accelerating his attack.
The sharp blade, capable of slaying souls, slashed toward Li Wei’s neck.
He was determined to kill him for good.
"Soul-Devouring Annihilation Slash!"
This was the Power of a Demon God.
Unstoppable!
At such a close range, even Li Wei in his Holy Flame Lord form couldn’t dodge.
SHHNNK!
The dagger sliced through Li Wei’s neck.
The next instant, the dagger froze in place.
An extremely pure Power of the Scorching Sun erupted from within the gash.
An incredibly blinding light burst from the wound on Li Wei’s neck.
In that instant, Aguru felt as if he were staring directly at the blazing sun, his entire being on the verge of being incinerated.
The moment the Soul-Devouring Annihilation Slash hit Li Wei, that black Power invaded his mind, seeking to obliterate his soul.
Inside his mind, this Power encountered the Sun.
In the world of his mind.
Li Wei stood within the Sun, watching the black Power swarm in like ghouls and demons.
His eyes blazed like the scorching sun.
"You wish to witness the Sun in my heart as well?"
"As you wish!"
The Power of the Scorching Sun poured out, instantly incinerating all foreign Power.
Even though it was night, Li Wei reached his Peak state in that instant.
The Holy Flame burning on his body surged, threatening to consume everything.
Aguru felt his eyes going blind. He saw the Sun.
He saw a Sun appear in the dead of night.
Li Wei grabbed the dagger embedded in his neck. The moment his hand closed around it, the blade began to heat up and glow red. Within seconds, it melted into molten iron that dripped to the ground.
TSSSSS!
The searing molten iron hissed as it hit the ground.
Li Wei’s entire body was ablaze with a roaring Holy Flame, his Power at its apex.
Aguru’s vision wouldn’t clear. He retreated in terror, desperate to escape.
Li Wei stared into his eyes.
Golden flames erupted from Aguru’s eye sockets.
"AHHHH..."
Aguru clutched his eyes in agony, but the golden Holy Flame burned through his hands.
Immediately after, golden Holy Flame burst from all over Aguru’s body, turning him into a human torch.
The Holy Flame had ignited his very soul.
Aguru burned from the inside out, his Life Force kindling into a fire that illuminated the world.
THUMP!
Finally, with everything burned away, Aguru collapsed to the ground as a charred husk and shattered into pieces.
Victory and defeat were decided in an instant.
Li Wei’s Power gradually receded, and he returned to his normal state.
He sensed the consumption of the Power of the Scorching Sun in his mind.
’That felt good, but it’ll probably take at least half a month to recover what I just spent.’
He turned to look at the other battlefield.
The battle was already over.
Monice was frozen within a massive Crystal.
Gu Sewei was completely unharmed.
Monice had somewhat underestimated Gu Sewei’s strength, and she had greatly underestimated the power of the Frost Staff.
As a Legendary Weapon, the Frost Staff was already incredibly powerful.
This was especially true here in the Extreme North Icefield.
The Ice Jade Palace had been built by the Ice Queen using the Power of Ice and Snow.
Here, the Frost Staff could unleash even greater Power.
It allowed Gu Sewei to come infinitely close to the level of a Legendary Level Mage.
Li Wei glanced at the frozen Monice, then looked at Gu Sewei and said, "The battle is over."
Gu Sewei shook her head. "The real test is just beginning."
She slammed the Frost Staff onto the ground, channeling the latent Power within the Ice Jade Palace to instantly shatter the external Magic Barrier that enveloped the entire palace.
Her Spiritual Perception swept through the Ice Jade Palace, and a cold glint flashed in her eyes.
Frost spread rapidly throughout the Ice Jade Palace, instantly freezing the enemies fighting the Valkyries and guards into ice sculptures.
Gu Sewei showed no mercy to these outside enemies.
She simply froze them all, regardless of whether it would cost them their lives.
Seeing that the casualties among the Valkyries and guards were not severe, Gu Sewei breathed a small sigh of relief.
She looked at Li Wei and said, "It will take some time to deal with the mess Monice has caused."
A thought occurred to Li Wei, and he reminded her, "I think Monice has already stockpiled a batch of supplies. She was probably planning to use them for disaster relief to win over the people after she took power. You should try to find where she hid them."
Gu Sewei nodded. "Mm, I’ll see to it."
Li Wei had no interest in getting involved in the political affairs of Fred City, so he left everything else to Gu Sewei.
He was more concerned about what Aguru had been doing in the city.
How had Aguru caused the strength of Monice and Ah Di to skyrocket in such a short time?
Li Wei wanted to get to the bottom of it.
Of course, it wasn’t that he wanted to increase his own strength this way.
He simply felt that this kind of Power could lead to future trouble.
Power like that never comes without a price.
Li Wei was worried this Power would trigger an even greater crisis.
The next day, Li Wei learned what he wanted to know.
Gu Sewei told Li Wei that Monice’s strength had surged after receiving a Demon Seed from Aguru.
"A Demon Seed?"
Li Wei grew pensive.
The Demon Gods had vanished for tens of thousands of years, and there was little information about Demon Seeds in the world.
Li Wei only knew that Demon Seeds were extremely dangerous.
Gu Sewei said, "I found some ancient texts left behind by the Queen in the Ice Jade Palace. They seem to mention information about Demon Seeds, but I don’t have time to look through them right now."
Li Wei nodded. "Don’t worry, leave it to me."
Gu Sewei handed Li Wei a pile of ancient texts made of animal hide, Beast Bones, and Stone Slabs.
When Li Wei saw them, he couldn’t help but smile wryly.
Even for ancient texts, these were ancient among the ancient.
There was no telling how many years old they were.
Li Wei didn’t recognize many of the symbols and characters on them.
They were probably relics left behind by the tribes that lived in the Extreme North Icefield long ago.
Li Wei could only rack his brain, trying to figure out how to read and understand the writing on these Stone Slabs, hides, and Beast Bones.
Inside the Magic Cottage, Li Wei sat under the Dragon Blood Tree, studying a piece of animal hide, feeling a massive headache coming on.
He turned his head to look at Saint Xi, who was lying on the ground beside him, digesting a Holy Light Crystal.
He held out the hide for Saint Xi to see and asked, "Do you have these characters in your ancestral memories?"
Hearing this, Saint Xi opened her eyes, glanced at it, and shook her head. "No. The vast majority of the Dragon Race’s ancestral memories are related to the Dragon Race. They rarely record the heritage of other races."
"If it were in the Ancient Dragon script, I could help you decipher it. But unfortunately, these characters were clearly not written by the Dragon Race."
Li Wei nodded helplessly. "Alright."
"How’s the digestion of the Holy Light Crystal coming along?" Li Wei asked.
Saint Xi replied, "It should be fully digested in about another month. Once I finish absorbing this Holy Light Crystal, my Holy Power should be able to reach the Legendary Late Stage."
"But if only my Holy Power reaches the Legendary Late Stage, my overall strength won’t increase by that much."
Li Wei shook his head. "There’s nothing to be done about that. According to the natural growth cycle of the Dragon Race, it would normally take at least decades, or even centuries, to reach the Legendary Late Stage. Even if it’s just your Holy Power reaching that stage, it still saves you a huge amount of time."
Saint Xi nodded. "That’s true."
She fell silent for a moment, then looked at Li Wei and said, "Li Wei, I’m growing too slowly..."
Li Wei cut her off. "Don’t be anxious. The Dragon Race has always needed a long time to mature. Other dragons your age are still just waddling whelps. Don’t rush it, take your time."
Saint Xi said worriedly, "But I feel like we’re running out of time."
Li Wei chuckled and patted Saint Xi’s head. "Don’t worry, I’ll protect you."
He knew what she was worried about.
The Demon Dragon King was just too powerful.
Worrying was pointless.
Instead of wasting energy on that, it was better to focus on how to decipher these ancient texts and figure out what exactly a Demon Seed was.
As Li Wei stared at the texts in his hand, a person suddenly came to mind.
The Witch from Xiong Er’s tribe.
Perhaps he could decipher the contents of these ancient texts.
At this thought, Li Wei quickly stood up and left the Magic Cottage.
"I’m heading out for a bit. You focus on digesting the Holy Light Crystal and increasing your strength. Don’t worry so much."
After saying this, Li Wei opened a Teleportation Gate and left.
Finding a single tribe in the vast Snowfield was extremely difficult.
Fortunately, Gu Sewei had a map showing the distribution of the Extreme North Icefield Tribes.
It had been drawn when the Ice Queen was still alive.
Li Wei didn’t know the name of Xiong Er’s tribe, so he could only visit the tribes one by one according to the map.
"The Snow Bear Tribe?"
Li Wei put away the map and looked toward a distant hillside.
According to the map, the Snow Bear Tribe was on the leeward side of the slope.
WHOOSH! WHOOSH! WHOOSH!
The wind and snow were heavy today, and the residents of the Snow Bear Tribe were all hunkered down in their homes, warming themselves by the fire.
A figure emerged from the blizzard and walked to the entrance of the Snow Bear Tribe.
The gate of the Snow Bear Tribe was built from piled boulders, the gaps between them fixed in place with poured water that had frozen solid.
The guards on the gate rampart saw someone approaching and quickly beat a large, nearby beast-hide drum to alert the rest of the tribe.
Regardless of whether the newcomer was an enemy, they had to be treated as one.
"Halt! Who are you? Why have you come to our Snow Bear Tribe?"
"I’m looking for Xiong Er. I was wondering if he’s from your tribe."
"Xiong Er?"
This was the third tribe Li Wei had visited.
The gatekeeper heard that Li Wei was looking for Xiong Er and didn’t seem to be an enemy.
He immediately sent someone to find Xiong Er.
Luckily, since the blizzard was exceptionally fierce today, Xiong Er hadn’t gone out hunting and was in the tribe.
After Li Wei and Xiong Er met, Li Wei explained his reason for coming.
"Xiong Er, I’d like to meet your tribe’s Witch."
"Huh? You want to see the Witch? I’ll have to go tell him first. I can only take you to him if he agrees to see you."
Xiong Er didn’t overthink it and spoke earnestly.
"Mm, I’ll leave it to you then," Li Wei said.
Xiong Er went to find the Witch.
A burly man who bore a strong resemblance to Xiong Er walked over. Xiong Er was already very tall, but this man was even taller.
He was probably two-point-three meters tall.
The large man looked at Li Wei, extended a hand in greeting, and said, "Hello, esteemed Lord Mage. I am the chieftain of the Snow Bear Tribe, and also Xiong Er’s older brother, Xiong Wei."
