Li Wei sat down, picked up the gourd from the wooden table, and gave it a shake.

He poured some water from it into a bowl made of leaves.

He took a sip. The water was crisp and cool, with a faint sweetness and the aroma of plants.

Saint Xi looked at Li Wei. ’Are we just going to wait here?’

’Let’s assess the situation first,’ Li Wei replied. ’If the Elf King is unwilling to see us, then we’ll naturally have to resort to other means.’

’Of course, it would be best if everything goes smoothly.’

’I don’t want to start a fight with the Elf Race inside the Elf Forest, either.’

’Do you think it’s likely the Elf King will see us?’ Saint Xi asked.

’I’d say it’s about fifty-fifty,’ Li Wei answered.

’Without the Beast King in the picture, the Elf King would most likely have ignored us.’

’But now, he’ll at least want to know if we’ve obtained the token from the Beast King.’

Their entire conversation was telepathic.

Li Wei was well aware that walls have ears.

Li Wei never spoke aloud to Saint Xi about anything involving important information.

They only spoke aloud about trivial matters.

After all, if the two of them never spoke at all, the elves might think they were plotting something nefarious.

The little bee Li Wei had created was still active outside.

It continued gathering information about Green Tree Territory and the Elf Forest.

Unfortunately, the elves of Green Tree Territory rarely seemed to leave the area, so they weren’t very knowledgeable about the outside world.

A day passed before he knew it.

After a dinner of the Elf Race’s specialty fruits, Li Wei lay down to sleep in a hammock woven from vines.

Saint Xi’s figure vanished as she returned to the Magic Cottage.

Li Wei cast the Hour Time Technique on her.

For Saint Xi, each day felt like a year, so she entered the Magic Cottage to fall into a deep slumber.

"Fire! Fire! Somebody, put out the fire!"

Suddenly, shouts erupted from outside.

Li Wei slowly opened his eyes and looked out the window.

He could just make out the red glow of a fire coming from a building somewhere in Green Tree Territory.

The fire didn’t look very large.

Still, a fire starting in an elven territory was a very strange occurrence.

Based on Li Wei’s observations, the Elf Race didn’t seem to use fire for light.

They had a peculiar glowing plant that served as a light source at night.

The elves’ diet also consisted of fruits and vegetables, most of which could be eaten raw and didn’t require cooking.

Furthermore, for safety reasons, the Elf Race would almost never start a fire in the forest.

This made Li Wei curious. ’Where on earth did the fire come from?’

Li Wei’s Spiritual Perception spread out like a gust of wind, drifting into the distance.

He surveyed the entire Green Tree Territory from a bird’s-eye view.

After Li Wei’s power advanced to Tier Six High Level, his Spiritual Power had also increased dramatically.

His perception range had increased to two thousand meters.

Green Tree Territory wasn’t large, so his perception easily covered the entire area.

He was only unable to perceive the interiors of a few areas that were shielded by Magic that blocked Spiritual Perception.

Everywhere else was laid bare before him.

He saw many elves grabbing pots and jars to douse the flames.

After a frantic scramble, an Elf Mage stepped forward and cast Water Magic, finally extinguishing the fire completely.

Although the Elf Race was known as a race of natural-born Mages, not every Elf could use Magic.

Most elves were simply Rangers or Shooters skilled in Archery.

While the number of Mages in the Elf Race wasn’t as rare as one in ten thousand, as it was among humans, they were still at least one in a hundred.

The entire Green Tree Territory didn’t have many Elf Mages.

"Find out exactly what caused this fire!"

"And were there any casualties?"

The Commander of Green Tree Territory, having rushed to the scene, gave the order.

Soon, the Elf Guard finished inspecting the fire scene.

"We found a human-made torch. It was likely arson committed by a human."

"We found no bodies, but according to witnesses, the few elves who lived here have vanished."

The Commander frowned and ordered, "Find the missing people. I want to see them, dead or alive."

"Send men to search the nearby woods. See if you can find any traces left by humans."

"Yes, sir."

The Elf Guard split up and went into action.

A squad leader had a thought and said to the Commander, "Commander, I heard a human arrived in the territory during the day. Could this be related to him?"

The Commander heard this, and after a moment’s thought, he said, "I understand. For now, go find out who set the fire."

With that, the Commander turned and walked toward the place where Li Wei was staying.

He knew where Li Wei was staying.

Li Wei had just arrived in Green Tree Territory, and that very night, a fire had inexplicably broken out and several elves had gone missing.

The Commander suspected Li Wei was involved.

He wasn’t aware of the conversation between Li Wei and the lord, Delvin.

In fact, the conversation between Li Wei and Lord Delvin was classified.

Delvin had never spoken of it to anyone.

"Commander Niezha."

The guards at the door saw him approach and saluted.

Commander Niezha nodded. "Is the human who arrived during the day still here?"

The guard glanced back at the door to the room. "He should still be inside. He hasn’t come out."

"Is that so?" Niezha said. "Open the door. I’m going in to have a look."

He didn’t believe that Li Wei staying in his room meant he was incapable of causing trouble.

Humans were known for being deceitful.

Besides, Li Wei was a Mage. For him, starting a fire would be all too easy.
