Elves, both male and female, were all exceptionally beautiful.

Li Wei had heard that the nobles of the Human Empire were especially fond of buying Elf slaves.

Whether male or female, they were considered incredibly easy on the eyes.

However, when such nobles were discovered by the Elves, things usually didn’t end well for them.

Most of the trade in Elf slaves was conducted in secret.

Few dared to openly and brazenly trade Elves.

Although the Elf Empire’s power had waned and they had retreated into the Elf Forest, they had once been the rulers of this world.

A starved camel is still bigger than a horse; their strength remained formidable.

Their situation was similar to that of the Beastman Empire.

However, the Elf Forest, home to the Elves, was clearly a much better place than the Northern Wastelands of the Beastmen.

SLAM!

Li Wei and Saint Xi were shut inside a wooden hut.

The barred door was shut tight by an Elf Guard.

He looked back and saw, through the barred door, the Elves who had brought him into the territory walking toward a giant baobab tree.

It was the largest tree in the Elven territory.

Saint Xi looked at Li Wei and asked, "What do we do now?"

Li Wei said, "Let’s not rush things. First, we need to figure out where we are."

The two sat down, facing each other.

Li Wei stealthily cast his Illusion Technique, creating a small bee Illusion Object that passed through the barred door and flew outside.

The guard at the door glanced at the bee flying past. He thought it was a bit strange but didn’t give it a second thought.

The forest was, after all, home to many small creatures.

Besides, Elves didn’t actively harm animals or insects.

They wouldn’t even chop down living trees.

That was why the entire Elven territory Li Wei had seen was composed of naturally grown plants.

Li Wei used the little bee to explore the Elven territory, eavesdropping on the Elves’ conversations to get a better understanding of their location.

The Elves all conversed in the Elf Language.

Li Wei had never studied it.

However, he had learned the "Language Proficiency" spell in the Maple City Mage Tower.

Language Proficiency was a Tier Two Spell.

After casting the Language Proficiency spell, Li Wei could understand what the other Elves were saying.

Saint Xi, on the other hand, had the Dragon Race’s innate Advanced Language Proficiency.

The Dragon Race was naturally able to understand the languages of most creatures.

Perhaps this was one of the reasons Dragon Blood Creatures were so widespread.

"Two outsiders arrived in Green Tree Territory today. Did you see them?"

"I heard it was a human and a Beastman. What would a human and a Beastman be doing together?"

"Humans from the outside have been poaching in the Elf Forest so frequently lately. It’s an endless nuisance. What are we supposed to do?"

"This is definitely the humans testing the Elf Race! We must strike back hard and teach them a lesson!"

"Too bad the Lord won’t let us leave the Elf Forest."

...

Li Wei guided the bee through Green Tree Territory, listening in on many Elven conversations.

He got a preliminary understanding of his current location.

’This is the edge of the Elf Forest, very close to human territory. They’re frequently harassed by humans.’

’This Elven territory is called Green Tree Territory, and its supreme ruler is a Lord.’

Li Wei looked at the giant baobab tree not far away. ’That must be the Lord’s Hall of Green Tree Territory.’

’In that case, the Elves who left earlier must have gone to find the Lord of Green Tree Territory.’

’I wonder what the Green Tree Lord’s attitude will be?’

If possible, Li Wei naturally hoped to obtain the second token peacefully.

Or at least, reach the Imperial Capital of the Elf Empire peacefully.

This was the edge of the Elf Forest. The Elf Empire’s Imperial Capital, Ferruccio, was located in the center of the Elf Forest.

It was still a great distance away.

The sound of approaching footsteps snapped Li Wei out of his thoughts.

He looked outside and saw the female Elf who had brought him to Green Tree Territory approaching.

Following behind her were two Elf Guardians wearing green Armor.

The female Elf said to the guard at the door, "Open up. The Lord wants to see them."

The guard saw the two members of the Lord’s Personal Guard behind her, nodded, and turned to open the cage door.

"Come out."

Li Wei and Saint Xi exchanged a look and stepped out of the cage.

The female Elf said to them, "The Green Tree Lord wishes to see you. If you can answer his questions, you’ll be able to leave here unharmed."

Li Wei said, "Thank you."

The female Elf didn’t acknowledge his thanks, simply turning and walking away.

One of the Lord’s Personal Guards walked up to Li Wei and Saint Xi. "Please come with us."

Li Wei and Saint Xi were led before the giant baobab tree.

The colossal baobab tree, over fifty meters in diameter, looked like a building.

It was dotted with many window-like hollows, through which sunlight streamed into the massive tree’s interior.

Under the escort of the Lord’s Personal Guard, Li Wei and Saint Xi climbed a wooden staircase inside the baobab tree, arriving at the top floor of the Lord’s Hall.

There, they met the Lord of Green Tree Territory.

He was a handsome, golden-haired male Elf. Although he appeared young, his eyes held the frost of ages, and faint wrinkles at their corners betrayed an age far greater than his looks suggested.

Elves could typically live for over a thousand years.

The Green Tree Lord before them was likely an Elf who had lived for several centuries.

"My Lord, we will take our leave now."

"Mm."

THUD!

The Elf Guards closed the door as they left the room.

Only Li Wei, Saint Xi, and the Green Tree Lord remained in the room.

The Green Tree Lord did not seem worried that Li Wei and Saint Xi were here to assassinate him.

This was partly due to confidence in his own strength.

And partly due to Li Wei’s status as a Mage.

The Green Tree Lord spoke. "Greetings, human Grand Mage. I am Delvin, Lord of the Green Tree Territory."

Seeing this, Li Wei hurriedly returned a Mage’s formal greeting.

He introduced himself, "Greetings, esteemed Lord. I am Li Wei, and this is Saint Xi."

"We are travelers who arrived in the Elf Forest by accident."

Delvin nodded. "Mm, I’ve heard about what happened to you. It was indeed an accident."

"I am curious, though. Who sent you to the Elf Forest?"

’Shattering space to teleport others.’

’That’s not something an ordinary person can do.’

Li Wei considered for a moment before answering truthfully, "His Majesty the Lion King of the Beastman Empire."

Delvin looked astonished.

"What? The Beast King sent you here?"

He looked utterly incredulous.

A moment later, Delvin frowned, as if he’d realized something.

He was still having trouble believing Li Wei’s words.

’How could the Beast King possibly help a human?’

Delvin looked at Saint Xi. He couldn’t immediately identify which race of Beastman she belonged to.

’Could it be because of her?’

Seeing that he had stunned the lord, Li Wei continued, "Actually, our arrival in the Elf Forest wasn’t entirely an accident. We came here to see the Elf King."

"You want to see the Elf King?" Delvin looked surprised.

’First the Beast King, now the Elf King.’

’Just what are the origins of this Grand Mage and mysterious Beastman girl before me?’

Delvin subconsciously tried to sense their power levels.

But he found their power to be unfathomable.

Delvin was inwardly alarmed, realizing he had been too careless.

’These years in the Elf Forest have been too peaceful. My vigilance has dulled significantly.’

Delvin said, "If what you’ve told me is true, then I shall tentatively treat you as envoys from the Beast King."

"As for your wish to see the Elf King, I will report it to him. If he agrees, I will have someone escort you to Ferruccio to meet him."

"In the meantime, I must ask you to wait here in Green Tree Territory for the Elf King’s response."

Delvin turned out to be quite reasonable.

Once he learned that Li Wei and Saint Xi were connected to the Beast King, he offered to contact the Elf King for them.

Afterward, he asked them a few more questions.

Li Wei answered truthfully what he could, and for the questions he couldn’t answer, he simply said he didn’t know.

Delvin arranged for Li Wei and Saint Xi to stay in a treehouse next to the baobab tree.

He even assigned people to attend to them.

Nominally, it was to attend to them; in reality, it was to keep an eye on them.

Still, it was much better than being locked in a cage.
