A very faint crimson aura clung tightly to her body, accompanied by a heavy metallic-grey color concentrated around her arms and fists.

Her Fire affinity was almost nonexistent, but he could not quite determine what the metallic-grey aura was supposed to represent.

Elion frowned. "You seem to possess a Fire affinity, but I have never seen you use it."

"Of course not," Tessa replied. "When I was young, I was told that my affinity was so poor that I should give up any hope of ever becoming a mage."

She glanced down at her bandaged hands.

"I despaired for a while, but my family was never known for producing mages in the first place. After receiving some instruction from my father and putting in a great deal of hard work, I managed to master one of our family techniques."

"What kind of technique?"

"It uses mana to augment the body and greatly enhance one’s physical strength."

Elion nodded. That was in line with what he was already accustomed to seeing from her.

Tessa’s physical strength was absurd, and her build was clearly that of a warrior, though Elion would have been more inclined to describe it as sexy and enticing than anything else.

After making plans to resume his training sessions with Tessa, Elion asked Mira to teach Aria what she could about combat, spellcasting, and anything else that might help her improve gradually.

He was pleasantly surprised to discover that Zenith also possessed a great deal of valuable insight, particularly when it came to spellcasting.

She understood how to make spells more powerful than they were supposed to be, improve their efficiency, and use even ordinary spells in unconventional ways.

She was not nearly as clueless as he had assumed.

Then again, perhaps it took a certain degree of insight to reach the Saint Stage in the first place.

She definitely knew more than he did, and surprisingly enough, she soon pointed out something he had not even begun to consider.

"Hubby, I noticed that even though you are already a High Mage, you do not seem to have touched upon the concept of Laws yet."

Zenith gave him a curious look.

"It is a wonder how you even managed to enter the High Mage Stage without understanding a single Law."

Elion frowned.

He did not even know what Laws were supposed to be.

Although he had come across the term while reading through some of the World Eyes’ abilities, he had simply assumed that they were some form of unseen power ordinary people could not perceive, much like the many things his new eyes allowed him to see beyond the limits of normal vision.

Zenith quickly noticed his confusion and began explaining the concept in simpler terms.

"I can see with my eyes that your Will is extremely strong. Perhaps that is how you managed to bypass the requirement of understanding a Law before entering the High Mage Stage."

The system chimed in almost immediately.

[She is half right. The Host entered the High Mage Stage because of the Origin Core, which in turn means thanks to your truly. The Origin Core is partly made of a will, and it allows the Host to touch upon these concepts without first needing to understand them.]

Elion quietly thanked the system for the explanation as Zenith continued.

"Wills and Laws are intrinsically connected. The simplest way to explain them is this: a Will is the natural intent or instinct carried by an affinity, while a Law explains how that affinity functions. Its Will represents what the affinity seeks to do when expressed through the world."

Zenith lifted one hand, allowing a small flame to appear above her palm.

"Fire possesses Laws such as heat, combustion, and consumption, but its Will may be to burn, spread, consume, or transform."

The flame vanished, replaced by a small sphere of water.

"Water follows Laws of flow, pressure, and state, while its Will may be to adapt, endure, erode, or overcome resistance."

She allowed the water to flow between her fingers before continuing.

"A mage must not only understand the rules governing their affinity but also align their own will with its nature."

Her expression became more serious.

"Someone who merely understands the Laws of Fire can manipulate flames efficiently, but someone who has awakened the Will of Fire can make those flames feel alive. Their fire may relentlessly pursue enemies, refuse to be extinguished, or continue consuming energy until nothing remains."

The others listened quietly.

"Different people can awaken different Wills from the same affinity because its expression is influenced by their personality, experiences, and beliefs."

The more Zenith explained, the brighter Elion’s eyes seemed to become as a sudden wave of inspiration struck him.

He was the only one, however. Mira, Tessa, and Aria looked completely lost.

Zenith had lost them after her very first explanation, and countless questions were already beginning to form in their minds.

Not to mention that this information was not widely known by the general public; knowing was not understanding, and it would explain why you would only ever see high mages amongst influential families and organizations.

The general did not possess not just the resources to reach such a realm, but also the most basic information.

"When you cast a spell, you do not merely use mana. You also combine your intent with your affinity to begin forming the spell. That naturally raises the question: what role does your Will play in all of this?"

"I do not know how far magical research has progressed in this era, but since I have already explained that every element possesses a Will of its own, I have reason to believe that what allows mages to cast spells is the act of exerting their own Will upon a certain element of mana."

Zenith gestured lightly as she continued.

"In doing so, they use their Will to overpower the Will of that element and take control of its attributes, which ultimately allows them to cast a spell."

The others listened closely.

"As you grow stronger, your Will strengthens as well. This is what allows you to cast more powerful spells, and it may also explain why a Fireball cast by a High Mage will never be as powerful as one cast by a Sage, even if both invest the same amount of mana."

Her gaze settled upon Elion.

"The Sage simply possesses greater access to the element’s true power and, in turn, far greater control over it—"

Her sentence was abruptly cut short as a powerful pulse of energy erupted from Elion’s body.

The air within the room trembled as Elion’s understanding had reached a crescendo, allowing him to comprehend a Law.

Mira stared at him, utterly dumbfounded. "Did you just break through?"

Elion did not answer immediately.

His eyes remained closed as the pulse of energy continued spreading from his body in slow, rhythmic waves.

The mana within the Ark responded to him, gathering around his seated figure before separating into streams of different colors.

The system chimed within his mind.
