"You can see the structure of artifacts?" she asked.
"I can see their materials, enchantments, weaknesses, hidden effects, and even possible improvements if I focus properly."
Her eyes brightened instantly. "Can you examine what I am working on?"
Elion had expected that reaction.
"That is partly why I came here."
Isla quickly returned to the workbench and gestured towards the circular object held between the clamps.
Elion moved beside her.
"What is it?"
"A prototype mana regulator."
She picked up one of the nearby sketches and showed it to him.
"The Mobile Workbench contains several tools that require large amounts of mana. Some of them draw energy too quickly, especially when multiple functions are active at once. I thought I could create something that controls the flow and prevents unnecessary loss."
Elion studied the detailed diagram.
The design consisted of several layered circles connected by narrow mana channels. At the center was a small socket meant to hold a mana crystal.
"You designed this yourself?"
Isla nodded, though she appeared slightly embarrassed by the praise hidden within his tone.
"I used a few older regulator designs as references, but most of it is mine."
"It looks impressive."
"It is not working properly yet."
"What is wrong with it?"
"The mana becomes unstable when it passes through the third layer. I tried widening the channels, but that only caused more energy to escape."
Elion activated True Appraisal.
The golden and abyssal pupils brightened.
The regulator immediately transformed within his sight.
Its physical shell faded slightly, revealing the interwoven runes, internal channels, and tiny currents of mana trapped within the metal.
Several weak points glowed faintly, while one section near the third layer pulsed with unstable energy.
Information appeared before him.
[Incomplete Mana Regulator]
[Grade: Unranked Prototype]
[Condition: Stable while inactive]
[Primary Materials: Refined Silversteel, lesser mana crystal fragments, copper rune-thread]
[Function: Controls and redistributes mana flow between connected crafting tools]
[Structural Flaw: The third regulatory layer redirects excess mana against the incoming current, creating pressure and instability]
[Suggested Correction: Reverse the inner spiral and divide the excess current between two secondary channels]
[Potential Improvement: Replacing copper rune-thread with Mithril filament would increase efficiency and reduce mana loss by approximately twenty-three percent]
Okay, that is not what he had expected. The eyes had pinpointed the flaws, and the system had made suggestions on fixes based on that information.
The eyes were clearly overpowered, but combined with the system? They were godly!
Elion leaned closer and began explaining to Isla what the problem was. "The third layer is pushing excess mana back against the incoming current."
Isla blinked.
"It is?"
"Yes. Reversing the inner spiral should allow the excess energy to flow outward instead. You could also divide it between two smaller channels rather than forcing everything through one."
He pointed towards the relevant section of the design.
Isla stared at the regulator before hurriedly pulling another sheet of parchment towards herself.
She began sketching the changes.
"That would explain why widening the channel made it worse," she murmured. "I was allowing even more mana to collide inside the same space!"
"Apparently."
"What else can you see!?"
"The copper thread is causing some energy loss. Mithril filament would work better."
"I have some Mithril!" She immediately began searching through one of the drawers beneath the workbench.
Elion watched her with an amused smile.
"You seem happy."
Isla paused, then looked back at him. "Of course I am. Do you understand how useful those eyes could be for crafting?"
"I had some idea."
"No, I do not think you do."
She pulled out a narrow container filled with silvery threads and placed it upon the table.
"Creating an artifact normally involves weeks or months of testing. Sometimes, a flaw is so small that the crafter cannot find it without taking the entire artifact apart. If you can identify those flaws simply by looking..."
Her voice trailed off as the possibilities became clear. "We could improve almost anything," Elion finished.
Isla nodded enthusiastically. The excitement on her face made her appear far less shy than usual.
Elion rested one hand gently upon her head. "Then I suppose we will be spending more time together in here."
Isla froze.
A faint blush spread across her cheeks.
"You would help me?"
"Of course. I already planned to take a greater interest in your work."
Her expression softened.
"You do not have to force yourself."
"I am not forcing myself."
Elion glanced around the workshop. "Now, show me how you planned to connect this to the Mobile Workbench."
Isla immediately moved closer and unfolded another series of diagrams.
For the next several minutes, she excitedly explained every part of the design while Elion listened and occasionally used the World Eyes to identify weaknesses she had been unable to see.
By the time the Ark announced that their arrival in Silvergrove was imminent, the two of them had already redesigned most of the regulator.
Elion looked down at the newly completed diagram. "You should be able to finish it once we return."
Isla nodded.
"With these changes, it should work."
"Then I expect a demonstration."
"You will have one."
Elion smiled and turned towards the workshop door.
He had only intended to see what she was working on, but the visit had revealed another valuable use for the World Eyes.
More importantly, the bright expression on Isla’s face had made the few minutes entirely worthwhile.
Just like that, it was not long before the Ark announced that they had arrived in Silvergrove.
...
During the early afternoon hours in Silvergrove, a familiar pair could be seen sitting at an open-air inn situated just a few blocks away from the Triad Alliance’s headquarters.
Perhaps it was more appropriate to say there were unfamiliar faces, seeing as neither of them was wearing the disguise they had used the last time Elion met them.
As a result, Vivian, who was now wearing her drop-dead gorgeous appearance, attracted more than a few glances, much to Cain’s displeasure.
Cain’s own features were not too bad. He still looked rather rough, and the striking scar running down one side of his face and across his eye had remained even after removing his disguise.
Cain took a strong puff from the thick cigar held in his left hand before blowing a ring of smoke out into the street.
