Elion compensated the man whose sword he had chipped with a generous handful of gold coins, much to the man’s delight.

With that amount, he could purchase a couple of Uncommon-grade swords or perhaps even a Rare-grade one if he managed to bargain a good deal.

After that, they decided to filter out of the training hall, seeing as their presence was clearly preventing the other members from focusing on their own training.

On the way, Elion thought to ask about the other three people who would be joining the Legacy World expedition.

He did not know what they were capable of, but Mayumi’s skill and resilience had impressed him, despite the fact that he had not been fighting seriously.

He would have been more than happy to have her as a teammate among the Alliance members accompanying him. Her personality was quite appealing as well.

Though, admittedly, much of his interest came from the fact that she was a rare eastern beauty.

While he had briefly considered pursuing her, he decided it would be much wiser not to chase after every woman simply because she was beautiful.

Zenovia’s case was a perfect example that not every beautiful woman would be attracted to him. From now on, unless the other party showed an equal interest in him, he would be more than content to maintain the status quo.

’I already have plenty of women,’ he thought, nodding inwardly.

Marilyn answered him.

"The other three all belong to a single faction, and their patron assigned them a mission within the Great Forest a little over a month ago, shortly after their positions were confirmed."

She folded her arms loosely.

"I suppose it can be considered a training expedition in preparation for the Legacy World. Given how harrowing that place can be, there are few environments more appropriate for training, especially considering that the Legacy World is believed to be even more dangerous than the Great Forest, though we have no clear evidence supporting that claim."

"That is understandable," Elion replied with a nod.

After that, Elion waited while Marilyn and Maya gathered all the information they possessed regarding Dawncrest.

Most of it consisted of public records detailing what was generally known about the ducal house, though there was also a considerable amount of insider information mixed in.

Elion quickly read through everything before finally turning his attention to an accurate copy of the summons he had received from the capital.

The bottom of the document had even been stamped with the royal family’s seal.

The moment Elion saw the familiar symbol, he immediately thought of Alexander.

Given his limited understanding of the nature of the trial, he had no idea how he should behave when he eventually met the current king.

However, considering that none of the history books contained any record of him or the others who had participated in the trial, Elion could only assume that the two worlds were completely unrelated.

The contents of the summons were essentially the same as what Marilyn had already explained.

Elion had been ordered to present himself before the royal court within the next month, regardless of his current location, so that he could defend himself against Dawncrest’s accusations.

Failure to appear would be treated as an admission of guilt.

Elion smiled pleasantly.

’We would not want that, now would we?’

With his duel concluded and his place secured, it was now simply a matter of waiting for the Legacy World to open. Before then, however, it seemed he would have to make a trip to the capital.

First, he needed to return Mira, Aria, and Tessa to Grimholt, since the academy’s break was about to end.

He was slightly concerned about how the academy would react to Mira’s return, seeing as her father and Dawncrest had been kind enough to claim that Elion had kidnapped her.

If necessary, he would bring her along when he travelled to Haven so that she could personally expose their lies.

He fully expected the duke and Gale to claim that he had brainwashed her, though. Still, given the kinds of figures the royal family probably employed, confirming whether Mira’s mental state had been tampered with should be a simple matter.

’It has been so long since I last saw Isolde. I wonder how she is doing.’

He was looking forward to seeing her again at the academy, as well as Beatrice.

She did not know it, but Beatrice had played a major role in helping him reach where he was today, seeing as she had been his most reliable source of system points during his time at the academy, at least before Esme and Ophelia came along.

Thinking about the two succubi brought a frown to his face.

He focused upon the connection between them, and although it was undoubtedly stable, it remained somewhat vague, leaving him unable to stop himself from worrying.

Taking things a step further, he activated his eyes and immediately saw the connection as a pair of physical strands veering off into the distant sky towards the east.

They had been gone for far longer than he would have liked, especially considering that they were both carrying children.

’If it comes down to it, I will have to track them down using the Ark.’

"Now, if you will excuse me, I have quite a bit of work to attend to," Marilyn suddenly said, though not before giving Elion one final look. "I look forward to working with you from now on, Mister Elion Nova."

"Likewise," Elion replied.

He then left Marilyn’s office alongside Mira, Zenith, Zenovia, and Yaana, leaving only Maya and the older woman behind, who probably had something they needed to discuss in private.

Once it was just Marilyn and Maya, Marilyn rested her chin upon her folded arms.

"You gave me a signal. Was there something you wanted to discuss?" Marilyn asked.

Maya nodded.

"That incredibly beautiful black-haired woman is Zenith, the Demon King’s daughter whom I wrote about in my report. There is no doubt about it. Since Elion called her by name right in front of me, that means he is not even trying to hide it. He does not care whether I know who she is or not."

Marilyn’s expression darkened.

"Are you certain?"

Maya nodded again.

"There is no doubt in my mind. She looks human now, but her facial features are the same. We never had the chance to speak or properly meet during the trial, but she always seemed aloof and so unlike the rest of her kind."

Marilyn put on a thoughtful expression.

Associating with a demon as an organisation was one way to lose a considerable amount of support, but they could always pretend they had never known her true identity if the truth ever came to light.

The alliance had been holding talks with the Goddess’s Empire regarding opening a branch within its territory, and given how vehemently the church slandered demons in general, knowingly associating with Zenith would be like playing both sides.

"How powerful is she?" Marilyn decided to ask.

"Well, she is the traitor who was secretly helping the coalition army. I discovered the truth and informed her father, but he was so confident that he decided not to do anything about it, which led me to believe that he already knew. He claimed that her strength was borrowed and nowhere near his own level, though I never discovered what he meant by that."
