Aidan did not know that Nina planned on turning the Grim Corner into an actual entertainment district like in so many fantasy cities he had seen and read about in his old world. Hell, he had never gone to any such things back then, making him only imagine what sort of place it was with his dirty mind.

Aidan and Van finished their current work day cleaning up when the sun went down, figuring it would be easier to do it during the day than risk fighting monsters at night with low visibility. When they returned, they met up with Nina, Yin, and Haley having dinner together, which was when Aidan heard Nina’s plans for the Grim Corner for the first time.

Or in this case, it would be called the Red Corner. Aidan didn’t comment about the lack of naming creativity, figuring that it was just so the history of the Grim Corner wouldn’t be forgotten or something. Historical value for the tourists, he naively believed.

Of course that was news to Haley as well, though it wasn’t a surprise for Van or Yin. While that made Haley send a suspicious glance at Van, he explained that many cities often had such places, mostly within the capital city where they once lived. Yin just stated that humans are such lustful creatures that she was surprised that not many humans in this city were already attacking each other to let off some steam. Aidan hated to admit that she was mostly right on that part.

That made Aidan curious about how such a thing would work, and if Nina did plan on making a district solely for adults, he asked how she would handle it if the sex workers became pregnant.

Apparently that was when he learned that there were specialized magical arrays that one could actually put on people’s bodies, which would connect to the building which also had magical arrays inputted where procreation could actually be denied. It worked in a similar way to how one would use a healing spell, except it was more specialized and done in an automatic kind of way. Aidan could only surmise that there were some pretty perverted mages who didn’t want to deal with the aftermath of taking care of children.

Gotta respect their hustle.

Unfortunately, the discussion later closed down due to Haley not wishing to discuss this anymore, especially since they were eating. That prompted Van to ask a very important question.

“So, what do we do from here?”

“Once we clean up the place a little, perhaps in a few days, I plan on going on a trip to Palestorm. There are some things I require if I want some of my plans within Forontia to work out.”

Aidan did indeed know about that. They plan on traveling to Palestorm, which was why they sent Puck there to give them the rundown before they entered. Some of the plans Nina mentioned was attaining a license to legitimately run some of the businesses she planned on making, not just the Red District entirely. She did the same when she made the Raining Treasures, but she only had to go to a local branch here in Forontia to do so.

Unfortunately that local branch belonging to the merchant’s guild was destroyed, the lives of its workers snuffed out. Thankfully it didn’t cause a whole investigation to be made, considering the obvious reason why it was destroyed in the first place. That’s why Nina, being the governor of Forontia now, had to be the one to make the trip there to not only get the licenses, but also discuss with the merchant’s guild regarding compensation and personnel requests.

Something that clearly required Aidan to be by her side. Just like in any fantasy novel he read about, not only was there an adventurer’s guild that helped take in the people’s requests to deal with matters such as monsters and dangerous tasks, there was also a merchant’s guild to handle localized businesses and traveling merchants. There were probably other guilds as well, but Aidan only ever interacted with just the one.

Surprisingly enough, Nina wasn’t part of the merchant’s guild, even though Aidan believed she had everything she could need to be a terrifying merchant. But it was also the same reason why Aidan never bothered signing up for the adventurer’s guild to rack up merits. These guilds had a more in-depth way of scanning others, and they were famous for spotting made-up identity cards.

In other words, they were the sorts of establishments that criminals couldn’t easily sign up for. That only made sense in Aidan’s mind, though now he wondered just how much titles had truly affected one’s life in this world. He had quite a few crazy titles himself, so he really didn’t want to deal with the guilds asking many personal questions he wasn’t ready to answer.

“That means you’re leaving then?” Haley asked, turning to Aidan. “You’re going too, right?”

“Yep,” Aidan answered.

“Oh…” Haley lowered her eyes to the table. “I guess that makes sense. That’s too bad. I really wanted to continue practicing magic with you.”

“Who says you’re not coming?” Nina asked. That immediately perked Haley up.

“Wait, I’m going with you?”

“Naturally, as well as Van,” Nina said. “I need more assistants to come with me. It’s strange to only bring Aidan with me as my sole confidant.”

“But what about Yin?” Van asked.

“I’ll be staying here,” Yin said, surprising the brother and sister. “Nina had tasked me to take care of matters here, and I honestly prefer that.”

“Why’s that?” Haley asked, curious.

“Not many people are used to seeing high elves, even other elves. The people here have gotten used to having me around, and they see me fondly due to our actions here. It would only make living and working here more peaceful. Ah, but if requested, I will gladly come.”

“That’s no need,” Nina smiled. “If anything, I want you to stay to keep an eye on things while I’m away. And also, you are allowed to use whatever authority I give you while I’m gone. I suspect there would be a few… bad characters showing up and making a mess of things.”

“I will do my utmost to keep our home safe,” Yin said proudly, smiling back.

Aidan could only think about how different Yin’s situation was compared to how he first met her. They literally stole her away after buying her off as a slave using a poor couple’s identity, and now she was the trusted aide of the governor having the same authoritative power over the city.

“I guess that makes sense,” Haley nodded. “Plus, I wouldn’t like it either if someone tries to mess with you. But are you sure you can handle things here by yourself?”

“I believe the party known as Wise Guys will be around to help me. Ander in particular wishes to help in return for Aidan teaching him how to fly. Though I regret not being able to help you in learning how to use magic during this time.”

“I’ll make sure to keep up the studies and show it off to you when we get back,” Haley grinned. “And I’m glad you won’t get lonely. Nicky’s so sweet to be around with.”

“I have noticed, and having her around would be helpful in many ways to keep others at bay.”

The two women discussed fondly, leaving Aidan with Nina and Van to figure out the details for their travel. It was clear that they needed to prepare quite a bit for the long journey to Palestorm, being that the city was beyond the forest and circling around the Ruinga mountains.

This would normally be a trip that would take a few days, but Aidan had some plans with his magic that could make the trip finish faster. On that note…

“Oh, right, guys, I got a little project in the works. Mind if we take a few days before we go?”

That got their attention, especially Nina as she looked at him curiously.

“What’s this project you have?”

“I’m working on a new spell that I’ve been thinking of for a while now. But for that, we’re gonna need to go back to the dungeon.”

“Isn’t that too dangerous?” Haley asked. “Your stats are still in their period of weakness, right?”

“I’m not gonna fight the monsters at all,” Aidan promised. “I’m only going to use that feature that sends us straight to the fifth floor.”

“You mean that teleport thing?” Van asked, prompting Aidan to nod eagerly.

“Yep.”

That night, it took a bit of convincing for Nina to let them stay for a few extra days, but considering his own track record, she trusted Aidan to do his thing, figuring it wouldn’t be a total waste of her time.

So the next day, Aidan, Nina, Van, and Haley went over to the dungeon while Yin stayed behind to handle some of the city’s affairs. Aidan did say that Nina didn’t have to come with them considering that he was only experimenting with something, but she was keen on seeing what the project would be.

Aidan personally didn’t want to reveal what the project was about, as he only had vague theories in his head. What he truly wanted to do was to replicate the teleporting method the dungeon used to send them back to the entrance.

In other words, he wanted to learn how to teleport himself.

There were loads of issues stemming from that idea already, filling up his mind as well as the possibilities that refused to go away. The first time he teleported, that seed of an idea was planted in his brain, and now it fully sprouted to become its own plant, ready to unleash itself into the world.

It didn’t take long to reach the dungeon, with Aidan having full access to flight, not just for himself, but for his entire party. One use of Area Field and he could now craft the air for everyone involved.

The first time was definitely a thrill as the others struggled a little to keep themselves afloat without spinning their arms. Van was the worst at this, almost fumbling and ending up spinning himself over. He didn’t have direct control of the air like Aidan did, and it looked like he didn’t have as high of a Dexterity as the other girls.

Nina handled it like a pro, albeit her soul did show a hint of surprise and excitement. Haley was just ecstatic, now fully convinced to learn wind magic just so that she could feel this moment every time. With everyone along for the flight, it only took them a few minutes to head to the dungeon.

When they reached it, they entered inside through the archway cave and, surprisingly, a notification dropped on him.

Welcome to the Crystalfang Dungeon. You have already cleared up to the fifth floor. Would you like to teleport there immediately?

It was the first time the system asked him something like this outside of his Class and ability options. He also felt the sense of something helping him outside of his senses, as though the will of the dungeon recognized his presence and sent itself to help.

With assurances from his party, he accepted the prompt, the dungeon already recognizing that he was with his party as magic soon coated their surroundings.

A circle appeared underneath them all, with various markings appearing one by one before it started to glow bright. It was there that Aidan opened up his senses to truly feel the vibrations being emitted from the process.

His vision blurred before changing entirely from the usual brown rocky exterior of the cave into the bluish smooth walls he recognized before. They entered into the same room where they defeated the Merunian Guardian Hell Hound.

For a fraction of a second, he feared that they were going to fight the next spawn boss again, but seeing the entire empty place around him, he let out a sigh of relief.

“For a moment I thought we were going to fight that thing again,” Van said, also letting out a relieved sigh. Turns out he wasn’t the only one thinking of it happening.

“Aidan, did you figure anything out?” Haley asked, considering that it was the entire reason they were doing this to begin with.

Aidan did indeed figure something out. Turns out he had absolutely no clue what he was looking at.

Everything went off, various vibrations generating at their own frequencies occurring everywhere, and it wasn’t just the sound of it, but in every aspect of his senses.

It was almost like he expected to see a 2D puzzle piece, only to find out that it transcended beyond the 3D space and became its own entire dimension. But he at least understood the framework of it, the bare skeleton of what it could be.

If he could figure out the details, then maybe…

“Mmh, let’s try that again.”

Aidan hoped that there wasn’t some sort of cooldown in place, and to his relief, the system prompt asked again whether he wished to teleport back to the entrance of the dungeon.

He accepted, and their entire world shifted again back to the usual cruddy cave of the first floor. But once again, it evaded his grasp of understanding.

They kept repeating this process, eventually spending over an hour doing this. Eventually the novelty of teleportation wore off, and the others quickly became either bored or actually started to get sick of the teleportation.

Aidan, of course, let them know that he needed to keep doing this for a while as, unfortunately, it was a lot harder to grasp than he had expected. Seeing the potential waste of time, Nina grabbed the bored Haley away to do her work while Van went off to train with Ander, leaving Aidan alone.

He was glad that they at least knew what he planned on doing for the next few days, even if the process was boring as hell. But for Aidan, it kept opening up a vast amount of information that only he was privy to due to his Sense Vibrations.

He kept repeating the process, teleporting from the entrance to the fifth floor without rest. Thanks to his high level, even with his stats completely shot, he could still keep up long enough for his mind to process the mind-bending workings of teleportation.

If he had to say anything, it was that the system, or the dungeon actually, used the concept of space magic to activate it. But he also knew that there was something else involved as well. He wasn’t sure exactly, but his senses told him that it could also be something related to time.

Perhaps the concept of mass, much like his Craft spell? As he kept experimenting, turning hours into days, he was starting to fill up the framework he had in mind when he truly examined the teleporting process for the first time.

Eventually, more details were filled in, and he was finally starting to grasp the process. Four whole days passed without rest, surprising him a little every time he saw the open sky outside of the entrance turning dark and suddenly bright again when his mind went away during his studying.

He was never quite the one to study often, proving that much when all he could do was do delivery jobs in his old world. If he was actually decent at studying, he could’ve gotten himself a well-paying job, but even he knew that it was pointless. He was just never interested in topics and subjects that didn’t appeal to him.

This one, however, completely grabbed his attention. It was just like reading up on how to play a game that completely hooked him for hours at a time. He would find ways to make his builds more pronounced, and would try various experiments to see if it would work.

Unfortunately he didn’t have a guide that told him exactly how things worked, but he did have a lead, all thanks to Sense Vibrations.

And after spending that long studying the process, Aidan had the confidence to pull it off. But just to be safe, he had some countermeasures in place.

“I was worried since you haven’t gone back home in a while,” Haley said, showing up along with Nina and Van by her side. “But you look as fine as ever.”

“More than that,” Aidan said, grinning back. He had eventually returned home and, before saying anything, he took a bath as he completely stank after four days of constant teleporting. “I think I figured it out.”

They were currently in the middle of the forest, out in the open plain amidst the grass. It was their usual training grounds, though the Wise Guys were back in the city with Yin taking charge as usual. While this itself wouldn’t be strange, the three did notice that there was a sword impaled on the ground a few meters away.

“Does that have something to do with why you have that sword there?” Van asked. Aidan nodded in return.

“That’s right. But the reason why I called you guys here is so that in case something happens, you guys can help me get back to the city to recover.”

“Aidan, are you sure you should do this while your stats are still weakened?” Nina asked. “If you’re going to experiment with something that even you yourself believe could end up harming you, wouldn’t it be best to be fully prepared?”

“I spent enough time preparing and studying, and I have to do this while the idea is still fresh in my mind,” Aidan said. “But if I understand it properly, I should be able to do it. Just stay there and watch me work my magic.”

Aidan quickly ignored whatever protests they would add in and closed his eyes. Thankfully they didn’t do it for long, seeing how adamant Aidan was in doing this. Now that silence took over, Aidan flexed his mind and expanded his senses wide, connecting to the relay point where his sword was impaled.

He slowly built the framework he had imagined in his mind, stretching from where he was to where the closest relay point was. He feared that doing this might somehow hamper the teleportation process, but his gut was telling him that it would be fine as long as he made it work out in the end.

He also felt, beyond his senses, that what he was doing was still workable, as long as he had the mana for the process. With that in mind, fully confident, he let out his mana through the framework of his mind.

He used the spell Phase to make his body almost intangible, but in a different way than what the spell normally did. He then crafted not the air or the ground, but the space around him. He forced the space around his vicinity to accept the current Phase he was putting himself in, using both Magic Boost to empower the Craft and Magic Focus to keep both spells working together seamlessly.

But he didn’t stop there. He willed his mana to connect to harmony, a power that was beyond his ordinary spells and skills. Much like how he first cast Rend, he channeled that strange concept into himself and willed it to appear in the physical realm. Soon enough, something happened that made his body quiver in anticipation.

He felt what he could only imagine to be a hole appearing below him. A hole that was invisible to the eye, and rather than going down, the hole went somehow upwards, taking him whole. His heart panicked for a second, but he recognized it as the movement his body was going through as the space around him contracted and bent inwards. In this process, he kept focusing on the relay point ahead of him, bending the magic that was currently taking him to move him straight to that point.

A quick shift in sensation, gravity letting up for just a brief moment before he found himself stumbling to the ground. He opened his eyes.

And found the sword standing right next to him.

He looked back, seeing that he was quite far away from the others where they were just a few feet next to him a few seconds ago. Their gaping faces proved that his experiment definitely worked.

“I did it…” Aidan let out a heavy breath. Then hysterical laughter took over. “I fucking did it! I fucking beamed!”
