Harry Returning from Hogwarts Legacy
Chapter 906 - 365: I Tested You a Hundred Years AgoChapter 906: Chapter 365: I Tested You a Hundred Years Ago
"I think she’s talking about Fred and George," Ron whispered, nudging Harry with his leg.
"Probably," Harry nodded in agreement.
Besides those two, Professor McGonagall wouldn’t likely point out anyone else.
"Pay attention," Hermione turned back and glared at the two of them fiercely.
Professor McGonagall sighed softly, her sharp-nosed nostrils flaring a bit.
"—Anyway, you should all give it your utmost effort. You must consider your futures."
"Professor," Hermione said, raising her hand in the air, "when will we find out our results?"
"An owl will bring them to you in July," Professor McGonagall replied.
"Brilliant," Dean Thomas murmured, "means we don’t have to worry until after the holidays."
"And then your parents receive your report card and beat you up brutally?" Seamus asked from the side.
Dean immediately fell silent.
By the end of the class, everyone was in low spirits because of Seamus’ words.
Just think about it, holidays are supposed to be fun, but suddenly receiving a bad report card would make the rest of the holiday... not so joyous.
Maybe parents would ponder what magic spell would be best to torment their kid? One that’s not likely to cause illness, nor leave any obvious scars, right?
Their first exam was the Magic Spell Theory, scheduled for Monday morning.
Harry lay in the dormitory, not bothering with his books, calling each of his girlfriends for lack of anything better to do.
Cassandra had already cooled off; learning that Lupin had got in first, she had given Harry a tough time and stayed mad at him for over a month before letting it go.
"I think," Ron said to Harry as he entered the dormitory, "you need to get a grip, Harry, you need to study a bit, the exam’s tomorrow."
"Yeah, the exam, what does that have to do with me?" Harry shrugged, "I got twelve ’O’s on my O.W.L.s, Ron, I don’t need to take this one either—"
That’s when Ron remembered that his good buddy had already completed this exam.
"I shouldn’t even be talking to you," Ron turned his head, "I’m not talking to you anymore, I’ve got to study—oh heavens, I’m miserable enough to punch myself, why do people have to take the O.W.L.s?"
"Because you want a job," Harry shrugged again.
Ron left the dormitory, carrying the notebook he’d filled over the years.
At dinner time, Harry finally emerged from the dormitory, and the common room was silent, with students from other years courteously making way for those fifth-year students revising for their O.W.L.s.
At that moment, Ron was reading his Charmed notebook from the past two years, blocking his ears with his fingers, his lips moving silently; Seamus Finnigan was lying flat on the floor, reciting the definitions of basic spells, while Dean checked along with "Standard Spells, Grade 5" to assist him; Parvati and Lavender were practicing basic motion spells, having their pencil cases race around the edge of the table.
"I think you’ll all do great," Harry softly encouraged Ron, "Go on and take the exam without worry, Ron, I’m sure you’ll at least get ten ’O’s on your O.W.L.s."
Ron looked up, rolling his eyes, pointing at the door, "Do you mind?"
Harry left the common room anyway, planning to chat with students from other years.
Annie wasn’t in the Great Hall now either; she was in the common room revising—Annie had been cursed during her fourth year, so she wasn’t taking the O.W.L.s, meaning she still needed to take this course.
That dinner was very quiet.
Everyone wasn’t saying much; they’d been studying hard all day, so they ate with great gusto.
Yet Hermione repeatedly put down her knife and fork, burying her head under the table to take a book out of her bag and check some facts or numbers.
"You should eat properly, Hermione," Ron said anxiously, "Come on, Hermione, finish your meal properly, or you might not sleep tonight."
"I’m fine, Ron," Hermione said listlessly, "I’m just a bit anxious... pre-exam jitters, I don’t know what to do right now—"
"Eat," Ron said decisively, placing food in front of Hermione without question, "Now, eat all of this, listen to me, okay?"
Having no choice, Hermione went along with Ron’s arrangement.
At that moment her hand slackened, and her fork clattered onto the plate.
"Oh, no." She stared at the entrance hall anxiously and said softly, "Is it them? The examiners?"
They glanced towards the entrance of the Great Hall to see Dumbledore standing with a small group of very old-looking wizards.
Harry knew these people, though they hadn’t appeared so old back then—the leading figure was Professor Marchbank, her face full of wrinkles, and Harry had no doubt those wrinkles could even squash a Flubber Worm... no, a Tree-Protecting Lofa.
They were chatting as they walked in.
"The journey was smooth, very smooth, we’ve got here quite ahead of time!" Professor Marchbank said loudly, "We haven’t seen each other in quite some time, Dumbledore—I still remember when I personally tested your Transfiguration and Magic Spell during your N.E.W.T.s exam, you were indeed a talented wizard—oh, and congratulations on finally ridding us of that Senior Investigator."
Professor Dumbledore hadn’t had a chance to respond when Professor Marchbank replied again, "By the way, is there someone I know at this school? Harry Potter—right, I remember well, in June 1892, I personally tested his Transfiguration and Magic Spell—of course, in the O.W.L.s exam, he’s truly an impressive wizard, even more outstanding than you were back then."
