Chapter 39: Chapter 39- The Villain Su Jin
Su Jin’s chubby cheeks turned red when he saw those two being so intimate without caring about their surroundings.
‘It must be nice to have someone you love.’
Su Jin couldn’t help but think enviously in his heart. After a moment, he peeked at the couple nearby once again and saw that they had stopped kissing, but they were still cuddling together and whispering who knows what to each other.
However, it was at that moment Su Jin realized Xai Lin’s appearance was that of a boy. Thinking back to the scene of them kissing, his face, which had recovered, turned red once again.
‘Ah, this... I suppose from what my brother said previously, he must be wearing a disguise and he’s actually a girl. So, this relationship wouldn’t count as two male Dao Companions.’
Thinking this, the blush on Su Jin’s face slowly faded away. However, he couldn’t help but recall Hong Mei’s words from before, which caused him to lower his head and picked at his fingers.
After a few moments of inner turmoil, Su Jin let out a defeated sigh and accepted his situation.
‘Well, there is still an older brother above me, so who cares if I don’t continue the family bloodline? But with that being said, the cultivation world is so big so there must be a safe method for two male Dao Companions to have a child together.’
Su Jin comforted himself like this, before he was thrown out of his thoughts by a voice.
“Hey, brat, if you swear a Dao Oath to not reveal a single detail of what you saw with us, then we’ll let you leave.”
Su Jin turned to look at Xai Lin who had spoken and then scrambled to stand up.
“Wait—Wait a minute, I...”
Su Jin’s words suddenly trailed off at the end as he stared at the two in front of him. That Spirit Beast called An Mo was still burying his head in that girl called Xai Lin’s abdomen, while having his head rubbed. They looked so intimate and comfortable with each other, one could not help but feel that interrupting them would be extremely blasphemous.
This made Su Jin hesitant to state his request.
Seeing him like this, Xai Lin furrowed her brows, however, thinking of something, her brows relaxed and her tone softened by several degrees as she asked.
“What’s wrong? Do you have something to say? If you do, then just say it. A grown man shouldn’t be so hesitant you know?”
Su Jin’s chubby cheeks flushed red when he heard Xai Lin’s tone softening, but he couldn’t help but unintentionally muttered out a retort.
“I’m only thirteen this year, where do I look like a grown man?”
With his head still lowered, Su Jin looked at his body. Right, his height was still 1.5 meters, a bit short for his age but not by much. His hands were still those beanpoles with ten stubby carrots attached to them. Not to mention having bicep muscles, even his chest showed no signs of changing despite his daily weight training. And he didn’t even need a mirror to see his face, his cheeks no doubt look like two steam buns.
Perhaps the only thing that could show his maturity was the faint outline of abs he had gained recently, and those green shoots he saw in the bath the other day.
It wasn’t that he particularly cared about such things, but he wanted to be pampered like a little young master by his family for as long as possible. What would it look like if a grown man was acting spoiled? That’s why he planned on retaining this appearance even after reaching the Core Formation Realm.
For cultivators who reached the Foundation Establishment Realm, their appearance remained fixed until they breakthrough to the Core Formation Realm, whereupon they can use the abundant Spiritual Qi gathered during their breakthrough to accelerate their physical body’s growth.
Xai Lin’s senses were keen, so he clearly heard Su Jin’s soft muttering. But she didn’t get angry, instead she showed a complicated expression.
‘These two brothers are a bit pitiful, especially this Su Jin.’
Xai Lin thought in her heart as she recalled Sikong’s arc in Heavenly Illusions.
If those plot points weren’t exaggerated by the author, Su Jin was supposed to obtained a slightly damaged storage ring in the Crescent Moon Realm that held the soul of a white dragon.
It was well known in the cultivation world that white dragons were creatures of purity and were one of the few Divine Beasts who showed goodwill to humans in the past. So, Su Jin had no guard against that white dragon when it said it would help him become as powerful and admired as his older brother.
However, what he didn’t know was that white dragon was actually tortured and killed by a powerful human cultivator, so it’s hatred for humans was monstrous. Rather than helping Su Jin, it secretly began siphoning a portion of Spiritual Qi he cultivated every day to strengthen itself, while at the same time manipulated the still immature Su Jin, who had become dishearten after his cultivation speed dropped.
It subtly sowed discord between him and his brother Sikong, who at that point had obtained the Chaos Tower and retain his title as the Holy Son of the Earthly Spear Immortal Sect despite Hong Mei’s appearance.
The further the gap grew between Sikong’s rapidly increasing cultivation base and his own, the more the white dragon’s seemingly good intentioned and encouraging words stabbed into his heart. Thus, after only a few years, Su Jin, who was once a high-spirited young master that admired his older brother, became silent and gloomy, while secretly harboring jealousy towards his beloved older brother.
Adding to the fact that he had become a trash cultivator who was stuck in the Foundation Establishment Realm in the mouths of outsiders, several factors compounded together, with the end result being Su Jin abandoning his identity as a member of the Su Clan and escaping the Su Continent.
It was at that point when Su Jin was no longer under the protection of the Su Clan, that the white dragon made a move and took over his body. But it did not completely destroy his soul, so Su Jin had to watch as the white dragon used his body to murder and plunder everywhere it went, even mortal towns and cities were not spared.
By the time the Su Clan had found him again, the baleful aura around his body was so thick one could hear the sounds of screaming if they got too close to him.
As for what the ultimate outcome was, of course it was the main protagonist having to hardened his heart to kill his own younger brother, only to then realize while he was dying that his body had actually been possessed all along.
However, it was too late and Su Jin’s fragile soul, which finally took over his body after several decades, only managed to utter a single ‘older brother’ before scattering into nothingness.
