Chapter 38- Don’t Forget That Promise

Chapter 38: Chapter 38- Don’t Forget That Promise

On a small barren island near the coast of the Su Continent, violent spatial ripples appeared in the air above it. Within those ripples, An Mo, Xai Lin and Su Jin appeared. They fell from the sky and landed in the sand in a disheveled state.

“Ugh... Xai... Xai Lin.”

A muffled groan escaped An Mo’s lips as he clutched his chest and curled up on the ground.

Upon hearing his voice, Xai Lin endured the intense dizziness she was feeling and crawled on all four towards An Mo.

“An Mo, what’s wrong? Are you okay? What happened?”

Xai Lin knelt next to An Mo and began to panic a little when she saw An Mo’s state. He had been forced out of his Divine Monkey King form and back into his human form. And his face, which was contorted into a pained expression, was also deathly pale to a frightening degree.

“*Hiccup*... It—It hurts so much... Xai-xai...”

An Mo’s voice held the hint of a sob as he shifted slightly and bury his face in Xai Lin’s abdomen.

Su Jin, who had recovered from the fall, sat nearby looking at An Mo with a worried expression. This person was his savior, he hoped nothing would happen to him.

Xai Lin furrowed her brows and soothingly brushed An Mo’s hair with one hand, while using the other to send her Spiritual Qi into his back to check his conditioned. Almost immediately, her face changed and she couldn’t help but scold loudly.

“Damn it, why did you push yourself to this extent?! Your Spiritual Qi is completely dried up, and even your Sea of Consciousness is showing signs of instability. If you had used your ability by a fraction more, then your meridians would have been torn to shreds, and your Sea of Consciousness would have cracked apart!”

Xai Lin was so scared by what she saw her vision almost went black.

No wonder this brat was in so much pain, this was nothing but self-mutilation!

“I— I just thought it was better to leave the continent.”

“Leave the continent!?” x2

Both Su Jin and Xai Lin exclaimed at the same time before they looked at their surroundings. Only then did they realize they were on an island, with only clear blue waters all around them. If they squinted, they could barely make out a massive landmass eastward, which was likely the Su Continent.

Su Jin was especially shocked, however, after only a moment joy overcame him. Thinking that he had escaped so far from that old lady, he was so excited his chubby cheeks flushed red.

“I—I don’t know how to thank you! You saved—”

Just as Su Jin wanted to express his thanks to An Mo, Xai Lin coldly glared at him, causing the words to get stuck in his throat.

After closing his mouth, Su Jin lowered his head and tried to minimized his presence.

Seeing this brat had shut up, Xai Lin snorted coldly while wondering if these two brothers both had something wrong with their heads. Or else why was this brat so excited to be kidnapped?

Pushing this matter to the back of her mind, Xai Lin looked down at An Mo, who still had his head buried in her abdomen, with heartache.

“You’re so stupid! Don’t you know I have the Chaos Tower? If worse comes to worse, then we could have escaped using it. There was no need for you to risk your life like this!”

After saying this, Xai Lin hurriedly took out a white Top-grade medicinal pill that had faint golden dao lines on it, before shoving it into An Mo’s mouth.

Su Jin, who was secretly peeking at the situation over here, almost jumped up in shock when he saw that pill. Even though he had never personally seen that pill before, he was a Young Master of an Immortal Clan that controlled an entire continent, so his education was extremely thorough. How could he not recognize such an extraordinary pill?

Based on what he read, that should be a Top-grade pill with a 95 percent efficacy! Meaning, it was refined by a Rank 7 Alchemist at the very least. However, one should know that an alchemist’s skills were somewhat tied to one’s cultivation base, and for someone to become a Rank 7 Alchemist, they should have the cultivation base at the Body Integration Realm!

However, things weren’t so simple. Just imagine how talented one had to be to reach the Body Integration Stage and then add becoming a Rank 7 Alchemist on top of that. Su Jin could bet that whoever concocted that pill was from a terrifyingly powerful Immortal Sect for them to be able to cultivate to such a level.

Thinking of how his own Sect was after these two, Su Jin became agitated. It seems the person who stole their treasures was from an Immortal Sect or Clan that was powerful enough to control more than one continent, or more frightening, it encompassed an entire realm! Also, the fact that this person had the qualifications to have even one of such pills meant their status within that Immortal Sect or Clan was exceptional.

‘No, I need to tell my grandfather not to pursue this matter any further. After all, why provoke such an existence for a few treasures?’

Thinking of this, Su Jin recalled the communication jade slip in his storage ring and planned to find a chance to contact his grandfather.

Meanwhile Su Jin was in his thoughts, An Mo’s conditioned seemed to recover somewhat. His pale face had regained some color, and his expression had relaxed.

Turning his head, he looked up at Xai Lin and said with a pitiful expression.

“Xai-xai, I just wanted to protect you. I know you haven’t fully refined the Chaos Tower, so the price for using it would be far worse than I am now.”

Xai Lin pursed her lips, but she did not refute An Mo’s words. Instead, she glared at him and asked.

“Fine, I understand that, but why did you teleport so far away? Just teleporting a few thousand kilometers like before would have been just as fine.”

Now it was An Mo’s turned to pursed his lips. Shaking his head he softly said.

“She was determined to capture you, and I didn’t want to take any chances. So... I thought it was best to just leave the continent directly.”

Upon hearing this, Xai Lin let out a sigh before rubbing An Mo’s cheek with her palm.

“Next time tell me when you’re going to do something like this. Seeing how in pain you were just now almost scared me to death.”

An Mo paused when he heard that, and he recalled how he felt when Xai Lin was injured. He couldn’t help but feel a bit guilty towards Xai Lin. So, he nodded and said obediently.

“Hm, I won’t be so reckless in the future and worry you. I promise.”

Xai Lin smiled at that, and said.

“Don’t forget that promise.”

Afterward, she leaned forward and gently kissed An Mo.
