The girl sat primly, having already changed into a pink wedding dress. The large, fluffy skirt piled up around her, making it seem as if she were immersed in a field of flowers.
The intricate and gorgeous wedding dress enveloped her body, yet it seemed as if it were custom-made just for her.
It clung to her body, making her already fair skin seem to glow.
Su Zhaozhao’s long, curly hair was pinned up, with two tendrils left to frame her cheeks. The veil had pearl tassels that dangled down. She looked like a pink strawberry cake, or one of those pretty porcelain dolls in a glass display case.
Xie Huaizheng had seen many girls who liked buying dolls before, and at the time, he hadn’t understood it at all.
’What’s the use of these things?’
But now, seeing Su Zhaozhao dressed up like a doll, a thought suddenly struck Xie Huaizheng: he would buy tons and tons of clothes to keep at home so Su Zhaozhao could wear a new, beautiful outfit every day.
’Then again, Su Zhaozhao already has plenty of beautiful clothes.’
’Her duffel bag hadn’t looked very big when she arrived, but she had worn quite a few different outfits these past few days.’
’And her clothes were very tasteful—simple and lovely. He had no idea where she bought them.’
But then, thinking of their wild night, Xie Huaizheng’s gaze fell with some concern on her collarbones.
The skin there was fair and completely unmarked.
He was a little surprised. ’Did they heal that quickly?’
The next moment, Su Zhaozhao turned to him and smiled. "You’re all changed?"
This was the first time Su Zhaozhao had seen Xie Huaizheng in a suit—though really, it was just a jacket worn over his shirt.
But with his physique, he was a natural clothes-horse.
He had broad shoulders and a narrow waist, and the suit perfectly accentuated his figure.
Beneath it lay firm muscles, brimming with vitality.
Su Zhaozhao’s eyes lit up.
"So handsome, Camp Commander Xie. You’re really the most handsome man in the world."
It was true. She had seen so many celebrities walk the red carpet in suits, but none of them looked as good as Xie Huaizheng.
His features were deep-set and refined, his eyes sharp, his jawline distinct.
And with his height, if he were in her era, he could have easily become a huge star.
Being stared at with such starry eyes by Su Zhaozhao, on top of her unabashed compliments, made the tips of his ears turn red uncontrollably, despite how thick-skinned he usually was.
"You look beautiful too, Zhaozhao."
This was the most beautiful he had ever seen her.
Soon, Su Zhaozhao’s makeup was done, and they went to the studio to take photos.
Following the photographer’s directions, the two of them took several shots.
Su Zhaozhao felt it wasn’t enough and asked the photographer if they could go outside for some on-location shots.
At this time, it was popular to shoot entirely indoors, but the indoor backdrops weren’t real, after all. She preferred the authenticity of an outdoor shoot.
"Of course," the photographer agreed.
Su Zhaozhao pulled Xie Huaizheng out the door.
Xie Huaizheng watched the girl, one hand holding up her skirt and the other holding his. Her figure from behind was delicate and beautiful.
This wedding dress featured a sheer tulle section from the neck to the collarbones, dotted with large pearls.
From behind, he could see her slender back, so thin it looked as fragile as a sheet of paper.
’She’s too thin.’
’He could easily pull her into his arms... and so could any other man.’
’Su Zhaozhao is already so slim, why would she still want to lose weight?’
The photo studio was on a main road, and the surrounding area had a very retro feel.
Su Zhaozhao glanced around, thinking about the photography techniques she had learned before.
She led Xie Huaizheng to a nearby flower shop, where they took a couple of pictures and bought a bouquet.
Then, the two went upstairs and took a photo leaning against the balcony railing.
They also took one on the stairs.
They even took a photo on the bustling street, with people coming and going.
And Su Zhaozhao didn’t just find the locations; she even directed Xie Huaizheng on what expressions to make.
Finally, they also took a shot of their backs.
After the shoot, the photographer couldn’t help but praise Su Zhaozhao. "Miss, are you an actress? How are you so professional?"
He’d been in the business for many years and photographed countless ordinary people. Most of them were stiff when having their picture taken; many couldn’t even manage a smile for the camera.
But Su Zhaozhao was different. She could laugh freely in front of the camera and even tell him which angles were best for the shot.
She was practically better than him, the professional photographer.
’Thank goodness this girl doesn’t seem to be a photographer, or my job would be on the line.’
’But if Su Zhaozhao isn’t a photographer, and she’s this professional with the camera, then that can only mean one thing... she’s an actress?’
’A girl this beautiful, even more so than the actresses in the movies he’d seen... maybe she really is one?’
’But then again, he didn’t think he’d ever seen her in a movie.’
Su Zhaozhao squeezed Xie Huaizheng’s hand and shook her head. "No, I’ve just done a bit of research on photography."
Xie Huaizheng glanced sideways at Su Zhaozhao. "Zhaozhao, is there anything you can’t do?"
"Of course. The woman who’s worthy of you has to be exceptional."
Hearing this, Xie Huaizheng let out a low chuckle. "It doesn’t matter. Even if you couldn’t do anything at all, you’d still be worthy of me. As long as I love you, you’re the most exceptional person there is."
"Since when did you learn to say such sweet things?" Su Zhaozhao’s eyes crinkled in a smile as she reached out and poked him gently on the chest.
Still, hearing Xie Huaizheng say these things made Su Zhaozhao very happy.
They went back inside the photo studio. The owner took one look at Su Zhaozhao and Xie Huaizheng’s photos and couldn’t help but ask, "Your pictures turned out wonderfully. How about this? We’ll give you five photos for free, if you let us pick five to display in our window?"
Their studio had a glass display case out front where they showcased their photography work, using them as samples.
If the photos were good, they would naturally attract more customers.
That was why they displayed all kinds of photos—from a baby’s one-month celebration, to family portraits, to ID photos and wedding pictures.
But this was the first time they had seen photos with so much expressiveness.
Su Zhaozhao knew they had taken quite a few photos today, and photography was still quite expensive in this era.
An average family could probably only afford to take three to five wedding photos as a memento.
But they had probably taken more than a dozen just now.
And that wasn’t all. She was sure her photos with Xie Huaizheng were beautiful. If passersby could see their happy moment, wouldn’t that be a way of sharing their joy?
"Of course, we can," Su Zhaozhao said.
After speaking, she remembered Xie Huaizheng’s status and couldn’t help but turn to ask him, "Is that okay?"
"I don’t think that’s a good idea, Zhaozhao." Xie Huaizheng reached out and gently pinched her cheek, sighing softly. "Sorry."
