The bed and the floor were in complete disarray.

It was no longer possible to sleep there.

Stephan carried Alana into the bathroom, gave her a quick wash, then carried her

to the guest room next door to sleep on the clean, fresh bed.

They both had a good night’s sleep.

*********

When Alana woke up, her whole body

ached terribly.

She saw the man still lying in bed, his limbs wrapped around her.

She pouted, struggled to extend one slender leg, and with her pale, delicate foot, gave his calf a firm kick.

“I’m hungry.”

After a whole night of activity, it would be strange if she weren’t hungry.

Stephan had actually already woken up, but the warmth and softness in his arms made him reluctant to let her go.

He might as well just keep holding her and lying there. After all, it was still the weekend, and there was no need to rush off to work.

Stephan opened his eyes and kissed her tenderly on the brow and eyes. “Just lie there. I’ll go make you a nutritious breakfast.”

Alana grumbled, her voice lazy and tinged with weariness.

Letting go of the girl in his arms, Stephan got up and went to the bathroom. After brushing his teeth and rinsing his mouth, he left the room.

He went to the kitchen, opened the fridge, and looked to see what food was left, intending to cook her a bowl of rich noodle soup.

But to his surprise, the fridge was completely empty, there wasn’t even enough to make a bowl of noodles.

With no other choice, he had to go out to buy some.

But not long after Stephan left, someone arrived at his house.

Cynthia, who rarely had a free weekend, came by Stephan’s place to see how he’d been doing lately.

She also wanted to pay a surprise visit to see if he’d been bringing women home behind her back.

After all, he had promised her that he would bring her a daughter-in-law by the end of the year and let her hold a grandchild the following year.

But seeing is believing, and hearing is deceiving.

How could she know if it was true unless she came to see for herself?

Cynthia had a key to the house, so she walked right in without any trouble.

Once inside, she called out a few times,

“Son?”

“That good-for-nothing...it’s almost ten o’clock. He can’t still be lying in bed, can he?” Cynthia muttered to herself, then immediately headed upstairs toward the bedroom.

Cynthia walked up to the bedroom door, her hand on the doorknob, ready to push it open...

If she went in, she was sure to find a room that hadn’t been tidied up yet, along with the lingering scent of hot, passionate sex.

Just as she was about to push the door open.

A deep voice came from behind her.

“Mom, what are you doing here?”

Cynthia paused, turned around, and saw that Stephan had returned.

He was wearing a black shirt, his hair slightly disheveled.

In his hands, he carried fresh vegetables he’d just bought from the supermarket.

When Cynthia saw her son, her hand on the doorknob instantly withdrew.

“I just came by to see how you’ve been doing lately.”

Stephan frowned slightly. “You came to see me without even giving me a heads-up first?”

Cynthia shrugged it off. “Oh, come on, is it really necessary to give advance notice? I’m visiting my own son. If I want to see him, I’ll just come over, do I need to pick a specific time?”

Stephan remained expressionless. “I was just worried you’d have made the trip for nothing.”

“It’s the weekend. If you’re not at home, where else could you be? Even if it were a wasted trip, it wouldn’t matter. I just came to check in. If I see you, fine; if not, I’ll just leave.”

“Mom, from now on, if you want to see me, give me a call first. No matter where I am, I’ll come see you right away. There’s no need for you to go out of your way to come here yourself.”

“It’s no trouble! I’m more than happy to do it...I just wanted to come see you in person!”

Stephan gave a forced smile. “Now that you’ve seen your son...and he’s as lively as ever, can you go home with peace of mind?”

Cynthia frowned, her tone displeased. “I’ve only just arrived, and you’re already shooing me away?”

“No. It’s just that my place is too humble; I don’t have much to offer you.”

“I don’t need you to entertain me. I just came by to take a quick look.”

“Just taking a look? So much so that you want to go into my bedroom?”

Cynthia retorted irritably, “What’s the matter? Is your bedroom off-limits?”

Stephan blinked.

It wasn’t tidied up yet, so naturally, it wasn’t fit for visitors.

He had his pride, too. The floor inside was littered with used tissues, several lingerie sets and sex toys he was yet to use on Alana, in his haste last night, the bag of explicit items he had bought had been thrown onto the floor, there were also several torn pieces of clothing...

Even the sheets were all damp.

“I’m going to take a look at your room.”

As soon as Cynthia finished speaking, she reached out to try to open the bedroom door.

Stephan immediately stepped forward to block her hand. “Mom, don’t go in. The room’s a mess...I haven’t cleaned it up yet.”

“It’s fine. I’ll go in and help you clean it up.”

He stood at the doorway of his bedroom, not budging an inch. “If my dad finds out your noble hands are helping me clean my room, he’ll skin me alive.”

Cynthia smiled calmly. “He won’t find out. Besides, he doesn’t even know I’m here. Move out of the way!”

Stephan refused to move.

The more he tried to keep Cynthia from entering, the more curious she became.

What on earth was in his bedroom?

Was it something he didn’t want his own mother to see?

Surely... he wasn’t hiding a woman in there, was he?

The more she thought about it, the more excited she got!

The more she thought about it, the more she had to see!

“Fine, so you won’t let me, huh! I’m going to open your bedroom door today and find out for myself!” Cynthia immediately reached out, trying to push him aside.

Stephan stood as solid as a mountain, not budging an inch.

“Mom, don’t do this. Your son needs a little privacy too.”

Cynthia snorted with a laugh. “What kind of ‘personal privacy’ is so secretive that even your own mother can’t look? Besides, what storms hasn’t your mom weathered? Be reasonable. Move aside! I’ll just take a quick peek and be on my way!”

“Mom, you’re asking for too much.”

Cynthia glared at him. “Tell me the truth, are you hiding a woman in this bedroom?”

“No.”

He was hiding a woman, but not in this bedroom.

This bedroom was a total mess...his mother might faint!

Cynthia didn’t believe him. She shoved Stephan aside with all her might, reached out, and was about to open the door...

Just as she was about to push the door open, Cynthia’s phone suddenly rang.

Stephan spoke up at just the right moment, “Mom, your phone is ringing. It might be someone with an urgent matter.”

Cynthia shot him a glare, but with no other choice, she withdrew her hand and pulled out her phone to check.

It was a call from the hospital, it might actually be an emergency.

Cynthia answered the call.

After answering, her expression instantly turned serious. “Oh, okay...All right, all right. I’ll head to the hospital right away.”

When she looked up again, Stephan’s towering figure was blocking the doorway to his bedroom once more.

Cynthia gritted her teeth in frustration, but she didn’t have time to waste arguing with him.

“You little brat, there’s an emergency at the hospital. I need to get there right away. This time, you’re lucky. I’ll let you off the hook.” With that, she hurried downstairs and left.

Stephan watched Cynthia leave, raising an eyebrow slightly.

It was indeed a narrow escape.

He was still holding the grocery bag from the supermarket and was just about to head downstairs.

But just then, he caught a glimpse of the door to the next room suddenly opening a crack, and a dark head poked out.

A pair of dark, clear eyes met his gaze unexpectedly.

Stephan stared into those eyes, a faint, enigmatic smile playing on his lips.
