Help! My One-Night Stand Is Examining Me?!
Chapter 278 Showing off your loveAlana suddenly became the center of everyone’s attention, and her delicate, fair complexion flushed even more deeply.
She spoke shyly, “Carla, don’t say that so loudly.”
Carla grinned, “Oh, it’s fine! Everyone’s here anyway...showing off your love isn’t such a big deal!”
Alana was very embarrassed, and her face grew even redder.
Carla asked curiously, “By the way, does your boyfriend spoil you?”
Alana nodded, her face flushed. “Yeah, he really spoils me.”
“How does he spoil you?”
Alana thought for a moment. “He buys me pretty dresses and nice jewelry. He cooks for me and does my laundry. He even handed over his bank card for me to manage. If I run into trouble, he helps me solve it. Basically, when I’m with him, he thinks of everything for me and takes care of everything, I don’t have to worry about a thing.”
Carla was both shocked and envious. “Wow, your boyfriend is absolutely amazing! He’s literally the perfect boyfriend of my dreams!”
Carla never imagined a man like that existed in real life...he feels like a one-in-a-million find!
Cole clenched his fist, feeling equally shocked and bewildered inside.
He hadn’t expected a man like Stephan Hudson, so aloof and powerful to go to such lengths for a woman.
If it were him, could he take better care of Alana than Stephan?
Cole felt he probably could now. He had learnt so much about taking care of a woman, things he didn’t even try to learn before.
He could buy her clothes and jewelry.
He didn’t know how to cook, but he could learn to cook for Alana.
As for doing laundry, he could handle that too.
If Stephan can do it, what can’t he do?
Besides, he had an advantage over Stephan: he had met Alana earlier than Stephan, had once helped her, and had given her warmth at some point.
That was something Stephan could never match, no matter what.
He clearly had the upper hand over Stephan, and he had more time and more chances to express his feelings to Alana and keep her firmly in his grasp.
But... he was the one who failed to see the treasure he had before.
As a result, he lost her, and without even realizing it, he pushed her into Stephan’s rms...
Even if it weren’t Stephan, it could have been some other man...
Grace couldn’t help but sigh, “Alana, these days, there aren’t many men who are so considerate and know how to take care of their women. You should cherish him.”
Alana nodded and smiled. “I know, I’ll cherish him.”
Cole’s heart sank once more.
Danielle said bitterly, “Oh please! Alana’s just lying. How could there be a man like that in this world! She must be making it up to trick us!”
Because she herself had never met one.
Carla snorted lightly. “Just because you haven’t met one doesn’t mean they don’t exist in this world, they’re just rare. It just so happens that our Lana is kind-hearted and beautiful, so she’s met a man who’s just as wonderful.”
Danielle pouted, feeling resentful inside. Why did all the good men have to go to Alana?
It was so unfair!
Carla shot Danielle a glance before continuing, “Plus, Alana’s boyfriend is really handsome...way better-looking than any TV heartthrob, and he’s got such a masculine charm!”
“He’s handsome, has a great body, and is so considerate...he’s practically perfect!”
Danielle felt even more uneasy as she listened. “Carla, you say Alana’s boyfriend is handsome, could he possibly be more handsome than our Manager Cole?”
Carla nodded immediately. “Absolutely! I’ve seen a photo of her boyfriend, he’s even more handsome than any man I’ve ever met before.”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than Carla sensed something was off, and she glanced sheepishly at Cole.
Oh no...praising another man as more handsome in front of the boss. Would she get the short end of the stick at work from now on?
That damn Danielle!
She must have deliberately set this trap just to make her fall into it!
Sure enough, upon hearing their conversation, Cole’s gaze grew even colder.
Seeing Carla at a loss, Danielle couldn’t help but smirk triumphantly. “In my book, no matter how handsome a man is, he can’t hold a candle to our Manager Cole!”
“Manager Cole is the most gorgeous man in the world!”
“And I also believe that Manager Cole is more considerate and caring. Being his girlfriend must make you the happiest woman in the world!”
Carla swallowed.
Cole, who had just been praised as the most handsome man in the world, wasn’t particularly pleased; his expression remained icy.
Come to think of it, he had been in a position of advantage...but he had lost all that because he never put her first.
On top of that, he couldn’t match Stephan in looks, martial prowess, or social standing.
So, what chance did he have of competing with Stephan for Alana?
Upon careful comparison, he realized he had already been utterly defeated.
Yet the thought of the woman he loved now belonging to another man was something his heart simply couldn’t accept, leaving him in constant torment day after day.
Danielle shot Alana a glance. “Lana, you’re always going on and on about how much your boyfriend spoils you and how wonderful he is, but who exactly is he?”
“It’s been so long, and you’ve never brought him out to meet us. It’s only fair you tell us his name, don’t you think? If you keep hiding him, we’ll start to think you’re just pulling our leg.”
Alana paused for a moment. “His last name is Hudson.”
“Hudson.”
Danielle was taken aback. Though some people bear that surname but there was one family that only comes to mind at the mention of the Hudson.
The “Hudson family” was the city’s most prominent and wealthy clan.
Carla was equally surprised. “Lana, your boyfriend isn’t by any chance a member of the prestigious Hudson, family, the country’s most prominent and wealthy clan, is he?”
Alana hadn’t answered yet.
Danielle couldn’t help but laugh. “How stupid can you be, Carla? How can Alana possibly date someone from a wealthy family like the Hudson’s? Does an ordinary person like her even have the clout to mingle with people from such a wealthy family?”
Alana blinked, rapidly.
Carla retorted, “What’s wrong with being an ordinary person? Does being ordinary mean you can’t meet a rich man?Haven’t you read any of those ‘domineering CEO’ novels? Where the domineering CEO has a one-night stand with Cinderella, and then falls in love with her, at first sight?”
Alana glanced at Carla in surprise.
No way?
Carla had actually guessed correctly, she and Stephan had met through a one-night stand.
Come to think of it, the way she met, got to know, and fell in love with Stephan really was just like the descriptions in those novels...so dreamlike and unreal.
Danielle snorted dismissively. “Come on, that’s a novel...fodder for ordinary people’s daydreams, not reality! Can you stop daydreaming, please?”
Carla retorted, “Some novels forms from real life experiences! Who knows? Maybe it really is possible?”
After saying that, she glanced at Alana. “Right, Lana?”
Alana smiled, her lips pressed together.
Danielle continued. “But it certainly won’t land on a loser like you!”
“I never said it would happen to me. How about it happens to Alana?”
Danielle scoffed. “That’s even less likely, if it doesn’t happen to me, it certainly won’t happen to her!
Carla was stunned. “Oh my god, it’s bad enough that you’re ugly, but you’re also living in a fantasy world! The world doesn’t revolve around you!”
Cole suddenly spoke up, “Even if you actually manage to date a rich person, it doesn’t mean you’ll end up getting married in the end. A sparrow is still just a sparrow; don’t expect it to turn into a phoenix one day.”
After saying that, he deliberately glanced at Alana.
He knew that right now, he was essentially cutting off his nose to spite his face.
But he had already lost his mind a little; if he wasn’t going to have it easy, Stephan certainly wouldn’t be able to fly off into the sunset with Alana so easily either.
Alana pressed her lips together, saying nothing, but suddenly felt a heavy weight in her heart.
Danielle and Carla fell silent as well.
Although they didn’t understand why Cole had interjected, they knew he was speaking the truth.
Not a single word was spoken among the group until they arrived at the branch office. Upon arrival, the branch manager came down personally to greet them.
As they stepped into the elevator, Cole suddenly leaned close to Alana and asked in a voice only she could hear.
“Is he really that good to you?”
Alana instinctively looked at him and asked softly, “Do you think I’d joke about something like that?”
Cole curled his lips. “I’d actually prefer it if you weren’t being serious, if you’d just said it to deliberately brag to me.”
That way, he’d still have a chance to take advantage of the situation.
