Alana took a deep breath. “It’s true. Truer than gold. So please, don’t get your hopes up.”
Cole pressed his lips together tightly, his jaw set as he said, “I also hope you don’t get your hopes up too high about marrying Stephan. Everyone wants to marry into a wealthy family, but it’s not that easy to get in.”
Alana closed her eyes briefly, unwilling to respond.
Stepping out of the elevator, Alana and Cole were escorted into the reception room to have a cup of tea and relax.
They then proceeded to the conference room for a meeting that lasted over two hours, nearly three.
Alana took out the notebook she had prepared and began taking meeting notes.
The meeting was long and tedious, filled with a lot of pointless chatter.
She found herself dozing off...after all, she’d been kept up late the night before and had gotten up early, so she hadn’t had enough sleep.
Still, she pulled herself together and jotted down all the key points.
After the meeting, she took another tour of the branch office.
She made her way through nearly every department, from R&D to Product Development and even popped into the production line.
Finally, they had dinner together to wrap up the day’s schedule.
Back at the hotel, Alana immediately sent a message to Stephan:
[It’s over. Just got back to the hotel. I’ve been on my feet all day...I’m so exhausted.]
She didn’t usually vent to others, not because she didn’t like to, but because there was no one she could confide in.
But since she’d been with Stephan, she’d unconsciously started sharing all her little mood swings with him.
She knew this was a sign that she was growing increasingly dependent on and trusting of Stephan.
Stephan replied quickly: [Sweetheart, you’ve worked so hard. Come over to my place right away. I’ll give you a nice massage.]
Alana felt a warm glow in her heart as she smiled and asked, “You know how to give massages?”
Stephan: [Yeah, a stick massage.]
Alana froze. A stick massage?
Was there such a thing?
Why hadn’t she heard of it before?
But she didn’t usually go to massage parlors, so she didn’t know how many types of massages there were.
She didn’t hesitate to ask, “What is a stick massage? Is it comfortable?”
Stephan couldn’t help but laugh when he saw Alana’s question.
If you asked him, this little white rabbit was truly innocent, like a blank sheet of paper.
[Hmm, it’s very relaxing. Come over right now, and I’ll explain to you exactly what a ‘stick massage’ is.]
So, while Carla was asleep, Alana actually snuck out to meet Stephan. She simply wanted a massage from a man to soothe her weary body.
But if she’d known what he meant by “stick massage,” she definitely wouldn’t have agreed to meet him so quickly.
As soon as she reached the door of Room 2009, she knocked.
The man opened the door and eagerly pulled her inside.
Alana felt herself grow light as he effortlessly lifted her by the waist and strode toward the bed in a few long strides.
He laid Alana down on the bed and immediately pressed himself down on top of her. Alana quickly pressed her hands against his chest to stop him from getting too intimate.
“Wait, weren’t you supposed to give me a massage?”
“What are you trying to do?”
Stephan smiled. “Sweetheart, this is exactly what I’m doing...giving you a massage.”
“Huh?”
Alana looked puzzled. “How are you supposed to give me a massage while you’re pinning me down?”
“Well, that’s exactly how a stick massage is done.”
As he spoke, the man’s muscular frame pressed down on her and shifted forward slightly.
Alana’s eyes widened instantly.
Even if she were the slowest to catch on, she realized what he meant.
Ashamed, she clenched her fists and punched him hard.
“Stephan, are you messing with me?!”
She’d come running over all excited, only to fall right into the trap the big bad wolf had set for her.
How could she have been so stupid?
Stephan smiled gently. He’d successfully teased her; the way her cheeks puffed out in anger was truly adorable.
He took her fist in his hand and leaned down to kiss it. “I’m not messing with you. I’ll really give you a massage.”
Alana’s cheeks flushed a deep red, making her look incredibly alluring.
“Stephan, I don’t want that kind of massage!”
That rascal...he was taking advantage of the fact that she wasn’t an intellectual and just teasing her!
Stephan curved his lips. “Fine, I won’t give you the stick massage for now.”
Before she could react, the man deftly flipped her over.
Her skirt was lifted.
A chill ran down her legs.
Her slender legs were gripped by his large hands.
Alana sensed danger.
“Ahhhhh, no, please don’t! Didn’t you say you wouldn’t give the stick massage yet? Stephan, you lied to me!”
No sooner had the words left her mouth than she felt the man’s hands kneading her calves with just the right amount of pressure, not too hard, not too soft. It felt incredibly comfortable.
Stephan placed Alana’s legs on his own thighs and began massaging her calves carefully.
“Is this area a bit sore?”
Since she’d said she’d been walking all day, her calves must be quite sore.
Alana nodded immediately. “Yes, yes, yes...exactly where you’re massaging right now. Stephan, you actually know how to give a massage?”
And it feels so good, so relaxing.
Stephan explained, “I didn’t know how to do it before, but when I heard you’d been walking all day and were exhausted, I specifically looked up some videos and learned it just for you.”
Alana’s heart fluttered uncontrollably.
He actually... just because she said she was tired from walking all day, he went out of his way to find a video, learn how to give a massage, and then gave her a massage just for her?
He didn’t know how to do it before, but he was willing to learn for her.
He wasn’t like some men who only make empty promises and paint rosy pictures.
Instead, he’d take practical action and treat her well.
She was even willing to believe that when he said he would marry her, he really meant it, and wasn’t just deceiving her to be with her.
She couldn’t help but ask, “Stephan, why are you so kind to me?”
She even felt she didn’t deserve his kindness.
Stephan looked at the girl lying face-down on the bed.
She was lying with her back to him, so he couldn’t see the expression on her face.
But he guessed she was doubting herself again.
The corners of his mouth turned up slightly, and his deep, magnetic voice was gentle. “Because I love you. Because you’re worth it.”
Alana’s nose suddenly stung, and she felt like crying.
How did he know exactly what she needed?
It was always like this, he knew exactly how to soothe her emotions.
When she was at her most insecure, he reaffirmed her time and time again.
What was redemption?
Stephan was her salvation!
He was like a raging fire burning with unbridled passion, warming her cold, long buried heart.
She couldn’t help but climb out of bed, turn around, kneel before him, wrap her arms around his neck, and press her lips firmly against his.
Stephan was taken completely by surprise by her sudden kiss.
But he quickly turned the tables, gripping the back of her head and deepening the kiss. Their lips and teeth intertwined, their breaths mingling.
When the kiss ended, Stephan cupped Alana’s flushed cheeks, watching her pant softly in his arms.
“Why did you suddenly decide to kiss me?”
Alana slowly reached out, her slender fingers gently tracing the man’s sensual, full lips.
Suppressing her shyness, she pressed her lips against his with just the right amount of pressure. “I... like your mouth. I wanted to kiss you.”
Stephan curved his lips and leaned down again to capture her lips.
He nuzzled against her from time to time, his voice low and husky as he asked, “Is it just my lips you like? Don’t you like any other parts of me?”
