Joan had witnessed Stephan’s domineering and powerful attitude as he protected Alana yesterday, and she had already been deeply captivated and won over by such a man.

Just thinking about it made her feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
She looked at Miranda and couldn’t help but say, “Mom, I really like Alana’s boyfriend. He’s tall, handsome, stylish, and charming, he’s exactly my type. Why don’t you talk to Alana and convince her to let me have her boyfriend?”
Miranda looked at her daughter in disbelief. “You’ve fallen for Alana’s boyfriend? He snapped at your mom yesterday, he made me so furious I almost had a heart attack. Not only did you not stand up for me, but now you’ve fallen for him?”
Joan said earnestly, “Mom, don’t you think he looked really cool yesterday?”
“Plus, he was able to easily bring in the top medical team over, that means he’s really rich!”
“Didn’t you always want your daughter to find a rich boyfriend? Isn’t the guy right in front of you the perfect match?”
Miranda blinked.
Well... she had a point.
Joan said with a straight face, “Mom, Alana is just a little sourpuss, an ugly duckling. How could she possibly be worthy of such a handsome and wealthy man?”
“You’re always saying I’m the most beautiful princess in the world, and I deserve the richest, most handsome man in the world. Now that this man has appeared, shouldn’t he belong to me, the princess?”
“Besides, I think he appeared in this world just to meet a princess like me. I’m the princess, so he must be the prince. Fairy tales always say that princes are meant to be with princesses!”
Miranda nodded. “My dear, you’re right. Alana is nothing but a little slut, she’s not worthy of a good life. You’re my precious daughter, born to be a princess. All the good men and wealthy men in the world should be revolving around you!”
“I’m going to make Alana break up with her boyfriend right away. And while I’m at it, I’ll have her set you up with him!”
Joan couldn’t help but laugh, wrapping her arm affectionately around Miranda.
“Mom, you’re so good to me! Once I’ve made it big, I’ll never forget you. Then I’ll take you and Dad to live the high life together!”
Miranda was instantly overjoyed, as if she were already dreaming of a life as a wealthy socialite.
“All right, I’ll be waiting for that day to come!”

Alana finally managed to persuade Stephan to go to bed after much coaxing.
However, he hadn’t had time to eat breakfast yet, so she planned to call her aunt to come relieve her, then go buy him some breakfast.
Unexpectedly, as soon as she stepped out of the ward and closed the door, she saw her aunt and her eldest daughter already waiting outside her grandmother’s room.
Alana walked over to greet them. “Good morning, Auntie.”
She paused for a moment, then looked at the girl standing next to her aunt, a slightly plump girl wearing a pink princess dress and a ponytail.
“Cousin.”
Joan crossed her arms, gave a haughty snort, and shot Alana a sidelong glance. Because she had always looked down on Alana.
Seeing that Stephan wasn’t by Alana’s side, Miranda immediately launched into a lecture in the typical stern, parental tone.
Placing her hands on her hips, she said, “Alana, what was that all about just now? You weren’t paying proper attention to your grandmother, instead, you were flirting with your boyfriend. What if something happened to her?”
Alana explained, “I only went into the ward with my boyfriend for a few minutes. It didn’t take long.”
Miranda’s tone was sharp and accusatory. “A few minutes isn’t a delay? If your cousin and I hadn’t rushed over in time, who knows what might have happened. Seriously, you’re an adult, you have no sense of propriety!”
Alana said, “Auntie, if you thought I wasn’t taking good care of her, you should have stayed to look after her last night.”
Miranda laughed bitterly. “What’s the matter? I just said one thing to you, and now you’re taking offense?”
“How can I dare? It’s just that I was afraid you’d think I didn’t know my place.
If you knew your place, you would’ve been the one taking care of her.”
Miranda glared at her. “You!”
She never would have thought that after venturing out into the world, this little brat would become so sharp-tongued.
How much better that meek, submissive little girl was, she’d do whatever she was told without daring to say a single word in protest.
If you asked her to help with chores, she’d do it; if you asked her to cook or do laundry, she’d get right to it.
Now, Miranda doubted she’d even respond if she called out to Alana now.
Miranda snorted, “Just as I thought, she’s come out of college and turned all high and mighty!”
Alana blinked.
Excuse me, but where exactly did you see that she’s become so high and mighty?
She didn’t even want to respond, it was a waste of her breath.
“Since you and my cousin are here, could you please keep an eye on Grandma for a bit? I haven’t had breakfast yet, so I’m going out to grab something.” With that, Alana started to leave.
“Wait!” Joan called out to her.
Alana turned to look at Joan. “Is there something else?”
Joan tugged at Miranda’s arm. “Mom, don’t forget the main business!”
Upon hearing this, Miranda cleared her throat and asked Alana in a serious tone, “Lana, Auntie is going to ask you a few questions. Answer honestly.”
Alana asked, “What kind of questions?”
“Well, about your boyfriend, is he from this country? How many people are in his family? Are his parents still alive? How many brothers and sisters does he have? And most importantly, how much family wealth do they have?”
Alana frowned. “Why are you asking all this?”
“I’m just looking out for you. Who knows if the guy you’re dating is reliable or not?But if your boyfriend was able to bring in a top-tier medical team to operate on grandmother and arrange such excellent post-operative care for her, he must be well-off, right?”
Alana was speechless.
Seeing the greed in Miranda’s eyes, she didn’t even want to answer.
She took a deep breath. “Auntie, just say what you mean. Don’t beat around the bush.”
Hearing this, Miranda stopped beating around the bush and said bluntly, “Lana, you can’t even hold onto a man this wealthy. Why don’t you just let your cousin have him?”
Alana’s jaw dropped. She couldn’t believe her ears. “What did you say?”
She wondered if she was hearing things.
Miranda said, shamelessly, “Oh, I just mean you should give your boyfriend to your cousin!”
Alana felt as if she’d heard a tall tale. “Auntie, you want me to give my boyfriend to my cousin? Are you crazy, or am I?”
Miranda said, “Oh my, I’m serious. I don’t think that guy is right for you. Break up with him right away. Auntie will find you someone better!”
Alana laughed in exasperation; she’d never heard anything so outlandish.
“And then what? You’ll find me a better one, and I’m supposed to just hand my boyfriend over to my cousin? Why don’t you give that ‘better’ guy to your daughter? Can’t you find one?”
It was obvious she had her eye on her boyfriend and was trying to get her to break up with him so she could swoop in.
Was she stupid?
Agree to this ridiculous demand?
“Oh, come on, I’ve told you before, you can’t keep a rich man. Look at you, no father, no mother, nothing. If his family finds out, do you think they’ll accept you? If you let him go to your cousin, and she ends up with him and marries into his family, you might even get a little of that good fortune in the future!”
Joan lifted her head haughtily. “Exactly. As long as you’re willing to break up with your boyfriend and help bring us together, once I marry him, I won’t forget your kindness.”
Alana scoffed.
How has the world gone so mad that it’s become unrecognizable to her?
“I’ll give you two words.”
Miranda asked curiously, “What two words?”
“Dream on.”
Both mother and daughter were momentarily stunned.
Miranda was furious, “Lana, you’re so ungrateful!”
Joan retorted angrily, “Lana, what makes you think you can outdo me? I believe that any man I set my sights on will eventually fall at the feet of my princess dress!”
