Alana couldn’t be bothered to keep talking to them. “You two can keep dreaming. I’m off to have breakfast.”

She turned and walked away.

Miranda and Joan were furious at Alana’s arrogant attitude.

They were used to Alana doing whatever they told her to do. Now that she wasn’t obeying them, they felt she was an ungrateful wretch with ulterior motives!

Joan stomped her feet in anger. “And to think I used to give her the clothes I didn’t want anymore to wear. Is this how she treats her own cousin?”

Miranda retorted angrily, “That wench! She even freeloaded on plenty of meals at our house!”

They made no mention of the fact that Alana had been treated like a slave by their family for years.

And she’d even pocketed the money Alana’s mother had given her.

Joan seemed to think of something, her eyes lighting up. “Mom, Alana’s gone to eat breakfast now, but her boyfriend’s still there!”

“Her boyfriend should still be resting in the ward. Mom, tell me...if I went in there right now to seduce him, do you think he’d be swept off his feet by my stunning beauty?”

Upon hearing this, Miranda naturally encouraged her, “My dear daughter, if a ugly duckling like Alana could seduce that man, then you, being so beautiful, will surely drive him wild with desire!”

Joan smiled. “Mom, just you wait. I’m going in right now to snag that man and make him your golden son-in-law!”

Miranda nodded. “Alright, I’ll keep watch outside for you. If Alana comes back, I won’t let her in!”

“I love you, Mom. My future happiness depends on you!”

“Go on, go on!”

Joan immediately flicked her hair and walked toward Stephan’s hospital room with a graceful sway. “Hehe, you handsome, rich hunk...this princess is here to grace you with her presence.”

Joan opened the door and slipped quietly inside.

As soon as she entered, she saw the man lying on the bed.

A handsome, chiseled face with sharp, striking features.

Arched eyebrows and starry eyes, jet-black hair and red lips. His beauty was intensely striking yet exuded a powerful masculine charm.

Joan couldn’t help but marvel: How could there be such a strikingly handsome man in this world?

To be honest, the moment she laid eyes on him yesterday, she was instantly captivated.

It wasn’t just his looks; his commanding yet aloof aura had completely captivated her. The moment she saw him, she felt he was the partner she had been searching for her entire life.

Joan slowly walked up to Stephan, her gaze lingering on him with adoration.

Looking at his broad shoulders and narrow waist, it wasn’t hard to imagine what a breathtakingly masculine physique lay beneath his clothes.

She couldn’t resist reaching out, wanting to touch him, to lift the hem of his shirt...

But before she could make contact, a strong, muscular hand suddenly seized her wrist. The force of the grip was so intense that she couldn’t help but cry out in pain,

“Ah!”

Stephan had opened his eyes; his dark, pitch-black pupils held not a shred of warmth. He stared at the unfamiliar woman before him. He was always sharp; even in his sleep, he maintained a sense of vigilance.

He had sensed her the moment she pushed the door open.

But since she moved so cautiously, he assumed it was Alana returning, afraid to wake him, and thus moving quietly.

He, too, had not moved rashly at first.

But as she drew closer, he caught a scent vastly different from Alana’s.

It was a sickening, foul odor that evoked a physical revulsion. Only then did he realize that this woman was not Alana.

“Who are you?”

“Who gave you permission to come in here?”

Joan said with a look of hurt on her face, “I...I’m Alana’s cousin, Joan. It was Alana who asked me to come in and keep you company.”

“Let go of me! You’re hurting me!”

When Stephan heard Joan say that Alana had asked her to come in and keep

him company, his brow furrowed slightly.

He was resting...would Alana really ask a

woman to come in and disturb his rest?

It was full of holes...did she really think he was stupid?

But Stephan still let go of her hand, simply not wanting any physical contact with her.

“Get out. I don’t need company here.”

Joan had finally managed to get in; she hadn’t even managed to seduce Stephan yet, there was no way she was going to leave so easily.

She plopped herself down on the bed where Stephan was lying and said in a sweet, coquettish voice, “Don’t be like that. You must be bored all by yourself. I came in to keep you company and cheer you up!”

Having been disturbed, Stephan no longer felt like resting.

He sat up from the bed and shot Joan a blank look.

“Oh, what do you want to talk about?”

Joan batted her eyelashes. “How did you end up getting together with my cousin?”

Stephan gave a faint smile and asked in return, “What does that have to do with you?”

Joan speculated, “Handsome guy, you’re so good-looking...it must have been my cousin who pestered you relentlessly, seducing you, which is why you ended up with her, right?”

Stephan gave her a half-smile. “Is that how you see your cousin?”

Joan blinked again, feigning innocence. “I’m just guessing!”

A faint smile tugged at Stephan’s lips. “Quite the opposite. It was me who fell for Alana at first sight and pursued her relentlessly until she agreed to be with me. It’s as simple as that.”

“What?!”

Joan was stunned. She had assumed Alana had been the one to shamelessly seduce this man, which was why they’d ended up together.

She never would have imagined that it was actually this man who made the first move on Alana?

What gives?

Hmph!

Alana couldn’t hold a candle to her in any way. If Alana was capable of making this man pursue her, then so was she!

Joan asked pointedly, “Handsome guy, what do you think of me?”

“What do you mean, ‘what do you think of me’?”

Joan flicked her hair, unintentionally exuding her charm.

“I mean... In your opinion, who’s better...me or my cousin?”

Stephan sized up Joan: rough skin, a bulky figure, and she was actually wearing a pink princess dress.

It was a bit of an eyesore.

Most importantly, she was emitting a foul, nauseating odor.

Unlike his girlfriend, who was not only clean and fair-skinned, but also cute, soft, and fragrant...a delight to touch and smell.

“You’re no match for her.”

Joan took this to mean that Alana was nowhere near as beautiful as she was. She gave a coy smile. “So, when you see me, do you feel the urge to pursue me?”

Stephan gave a forced smile, “Sorry, I feel the urge to kick you right across the room.”

No, no, no....she must have heard wrong!

She’d heard “take the initiative to pursue” as “take the initiative to kick you across the room.”

She said shamelessly, “Handsome guy, do you believe in love? The moment I laid eyes on you, I knew you were the man I wanted most in this lifetime, and the love I longed to experience with you.”

“If I agreed to be your girlfriend, would you break up with my cousin for me and be with me instead?”

Upon hearing this, Stephan’s thin lips twitched slightly. He couldn’t even be bothered to call her out.

“Who gave you the nerve to think I’d break up with my girlfriend for you?”

Joan retorted, “Just because I’m prettier than my cousin, have a better figure than my cousin, and I’m superior to my cousin in every way...wouldn’t it be perfectly normal for you to give her up for me?”

Stephan laughed. The world had truly turned upside down.

He had no idea what this woman had been feeding herself since childhood to be this delusional.

“Miss, have worms eaten your brain? Is there nothing left but a pile of mush?”

“You say you’re prettier than Alana and have a better figure. If you don’t have a mirror at home, surely you have a bladder? Go take a leak and take a look at yourself, see what you’re really made of.”

“As for you claiming you’re superior to Alana in every way...sorry, I don’t see it. The only thing I do see is that you’re more ‘ordinary yet confident’ than she is.”

“Since I’m worried you might have a screw loose, let me explain exactly what ‘ordinary yet confident’ means. Got it?”

Joan’s eyes widened in shock. “You...you...how dare you say that about me?”

“My mom said I’m the most beautiful princess in the world, how can you be so blind?! Also, it’s true I’ve gained a little weight lately because my mom has been feeding me, I was going through something, okay?! But as long as I’m willing to lose it, I’m still the most beautiful woman!”
